Chapter 189, /.

Madam Pei could no longer control herself and began to scream hysterically.

"No! Pei Fengzhi, how could you? How could you do this to my son! I absolutely will not allow you to do this to him!"

Before Madam Pei could make any move, Jiang Yinglin subdued her again, forcefully pulling her back several steps to keep her away from Pei Fengzhi and Ye Ningwan, preventing her from ever touching either of them.

"Madam, please calm down. Ninth Master had no intention of harming Young Master Pei."

But Madam Pei could no longer hear anything. Her ears were filled only with her own desperate voice, one cry after another, covering up any movement around her, leaving only constant cursing, warnings and pleas.

She was afraid—afraid that Pei Fengzhi would harm her son, and even more afraid that Pei Fengzhi would tamper with the assets under the eldest son's name during the time she was imprisoned in the Pei family's old mansion.

Pei Fengzhi has always been arrogant and would never be content to remain subordinate to others!

Finally, amidst the screams, Old Master Pei lost all his patience.

The high-pitched, shrill cry almost ripped his eardrums, vibrated the air, pierced his skull, and tore through his already fragile nerves.

"Enough!"

Old Master Pei, unable to contain himself any longer, let out a furious shout and gave an order to Butler Wang.

"Drag her away and lock her up!"

Butler Wang immediately called over bodyguards, who took the nearly insane Madam Pei from Jiang Yinglin's arms and carried her away on either side.

Finally, the tea room returned to its previous silence, with only the distant shouts and curses of Madam Pei, mixed with her sobs, coming from afar.

Butler Wang finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Old Master Pei's face was extremely gloomy.

He picked up the teacup and took a big gulp of tea. The tea was already cold, and the rich aroma had dissipated. It was like a cup of tea that had been steeped overnight being poured into his dry and astringent throat. Instead of providing any benefit, the pungent coldness made him feel even more uncomfortable.

Bang!

Old Master Pei slammed his teacup down on the tea table, looking dejected.

Click.

The teacup shattered instantly, breaking into several pieces.

This was not a good sign. Old Master Pei's face was extremely ugly as he stared darkly at the broken pieces of the teacup on the tea table.

None of the people in the tea room spoke.

Pei Fengzhi was too lazy to speak.

Ye Ningwan, on the other hand, looked down and fiddled with her nails, seemingly indifferent to the situation.

The most terrified of all was Madam Pei the Second.

She felt uneasy and wanted to suggest leaving, but she didn't dare to be the first to bring it up.

Finally, Pei Fengzhi seemed to have gotten tired of standing, so he hugged Ye Ningwan tightly and said something to Old Master Pei.

"It's getting late, I'll take Wanwan back first. Please take good care of yourself, Grandpa."

Old Master Pei looked up and glared at Pei Fengzhi, angry at his son's unfilial behavior, but there was not much he could do.

The old man knew very well that if he disagreed, Pei Fengzhi would most likely not give him any face and would simply take his wife and leave, leaving him the one who would lose face.

That unfilial son!

Although Old Master Pei was cursing in his heart, his actions were clearly biased.

"Alright, alright, if you have something to say, then go ahead and leave. Don't bother me! I need to talk to your second sister-in-law, so get out of here!"

Pei Fengzhi naturally led Ye Ningwan away.

Following closely behind was Butler Wang, who left with a group of servants, leaving only Old Master Pei and Madam Pei in the large tea room.

As for what exactly Old Master Pei and Second Madam Pei said, that was not something Ye Ningwan and Pei Fengzhi cared about.

When the two walked out of the Pei family's old house, the sky had already become slightly overcast.

Ye Ningwan looked up at the sky. The dense, lush clouds completely covered the azure sky, so thick that not a single color other than white could be seen. As a result, the sun was also blocked, and the whole sky was dark and gray.

It was only a little past three in the afternoon, but it looked like the sun was about to set.

The car stopped in front of Pei Fengzhi, and the driver hurriedly got out to open the car door for Pei Fengzhi and Ye Ningwan.

"Ninth Master, Madam, please get in the car."

Ye Ningwan glanced at the "driver" standing by the back door and discovered that it was actually Grizzly Bear.

She clicked her tongue in surprise.

"Why is it you?"

After saying that, Ye Ningwan turned her head with interest to look at Pei Fengzhi, who was holding her, and joked with him with a smile.

"Is Ninth Master really this generous now? Using his right-hand men as drivers is a huge waste of talent. Grizzly will be sad."

Before Pei Fengzhi could speak, Grizzly Bear waved his hand hastily and explained to Ye Ningwan.

“Madam, you’re too kind. My life belongs to Ninth Master. I’d do anything he asks, especially something as simple as driving. I’d be willing to go through fire and water for him…”

Before Grizzly could finish speaking, Pei Fengzhi interrupted him.

"Alright! I told you to drive, not to talk!"

After saying this, Pei Fengzhi pressed Ye Ningwan's head down and shoved her into the back of the car.

"You too, don't try to change the subject. You'll have to admit your mistakes and accept the punishment you deserve!"

Ye Ningwan was forcibly shoved into the back seat by Pei Fengzhi. Her left foot accidentally tripped over her right foot, and she fell forward, landing on the Italian calfskin back seat. She couldn't get up for a long time.
