...Seemingly to prove his firm stance, Old Master Pei glared and emphasized a point.
"Don't even think about it!"
Master Pei was both amused and exasperated, and pointed at Old Master Pei, cursing him.
"You old fool, why are you so stubborn!"
Old Master Pei asked back.
"If it were your third child, would you be willing?"
The third son mentioned by Old Master Pei is the future heir whom Fourth Master Pei has long intended. It has been made clear in public that he has been groomed for almost twenty years, and he is just waiting for Fourth Master Pei to pass away so that he can take over the responsibility.
Master Pei glared at Old Master Pei and retorted.
"That's not how you compare them, the situations are different! Your ninth son is in the eye of the storm right now. If you don't agree to them now, who knows what kind of people they'll bring in to pressure you!"
"What if they just kill your ninth son right here at the station? Have you forgotten about the car accident that happened to him four years ago? They still haven't figured out what happened! People are blinded by greed. Who knows what kind of heinous things your bastards might do for short-term gains? Aren't you worried?"
Old Master Pei had a sullen face, his cloudy eyes were bloodshot, and his fists were clenched so tightly that his knuckles made a cracking sound.
Thinking about this, Old Master Pei couldn't even look back and see how he had gotten through all these years.
He had to guard the company while also worrying about Pei Fengzhi, but he couldn't show that he cared too much about his son who had become a vegetable, lest those who had let their guard down against Pei Fengzhi would once again harbor murderous intentions.
He knew perfectly well how those people treated Pei Fengzhi, who was lying in the hospital bed, but for Pei Fengzhi's safety, he could only pretend not to know and watch them humiliate her.
Even when they could no longer tolerate it, they could only secretly have someone find an excuse to deal with the caregivers who bullied Pei Fengzhi.
In recent years, Old Master Pei's health has been poor, mostly due to excessive mental and physical strain.
Fortunately, all those years of waiting were not in vain, and Pei Fengzhi finally woke up, giving Old Master Pei some more hope.
But now an even more difficult choice lies before Old Master Pei.
Master Pei handed the other cup of chrysanthemum tea that Ye Ningwan had poured to Old Master Pei.
"Here, drink this to calm down. Look how angry you are. The older you get, the worse your temper becomes."
Old Master Pei glared at Fourth Master Pei, as if he was unhappy that Fourth Master Pei always brought up the fact that he was getting old.
Then they heard Master Pei say something.
"Actually, your ninth son doesn't necessarily have to inherit the Pei Group. He already has his own company, and now it's become a multinational corporation."
"Actually, if Lao Jiu had left the Pei family, he might be better off than he is now. Why do you insist on binding him to the Pei family? Perhaps in a few years, Lao Jiu will turn around and acquire your Pei Group!"
Grandpa Pei wouldn't listen at all.
He gulped down half a cup of chrysanthemum tea before finally managing to suppress his temper and speak frankly to Master Pei.
"The ninth brother is my life. I'm still alive for a few years, and I'm too busy paving the way for him to possibly expel him from the family register."
Then I heard Master Pei say...
"It's just a stopgap measure. We can just kick them out and then write them back later, right? You're the head of the Pei family, it's all up to you. Why are you being so stubborn?"
Old Master Pei rolled his eyes at Fourth Master Pei and snorted coldly.
"That sounds nice, but if Ninth Brother takes over the Pei family's responsibilities in the future, won't this matter become a stain on his reputation? Who knows how many people will gossip and curse him behind his back! If it were you, would you be willing to let that happen?"
Master Pei was getting a little annoyed by Old Master Pei's antics.
He was furious and yelled at Old Master Pei.
"This won't work, that won't work, what do you want?!"
Old Master Pei remained silent with a sullen face.
He was well aware that the best way to resolve this matter was for Master Pei to remove Pei Fengzhi from the family genealogy first, and then find a reason to bring him back.
But he just couldn't get over it; he was still angry.
The two old men sat on the sofa with gloomy expressions. They glanced at each other, then turned their faces away in unison, avoiding each other's gaze.
"snort!"
"snort!"
Even though the two old men were both angry with each other, they both understood that this matter had to be resolved today, otherwise the group of people waiting outside would definitely continue to make trouble.
...
When Ye Ningwan walked into the main building's lobby, she saw that the huge living room was full of people, more lively than ever before. Apart from the people from the third household, the people from the other households were all there.
It was already close to 3:30 a.m., but even though Miss Pei had traveled for several hours from a neighboring city, she showed no intention of leaving to rest.
Clearly, these people are determined to wait here for a result today.
Ye Ningwan couldn't help but feel a headache coming on.
Things have come to this point, and she really doesn't have any good solutions right now.
Pei Fengzhi cannot be expelled from the Pei family, and even more so, his name cannot be removed from the family genealogy by Old Master Pei. Otherwise, even if Old Master Pei tries to add his name back in the future, it will seem illegitimate.
Ye Ningwan didn't care whether Pei Fengzhi inherited the Pei family's assets, but this matter was caused by Xiao Xingxing. Children don't understand, so she should take responsibility for Xiao Xingxing.
