Chapter 189, /.

Ye Ningwan put on rubber gloves and quickly searched through all the documents in the study, checking each one before putting it back in its place.

In the darkness, by the light of the moon shining through the huge European-style enamel glass, Ye Ningwan carefully examined each item in her hands.

Perhaps because Li Mochuan had just arrived in Jiangcheng, the study was very simple and monotonous. The desk was piled with recent documents from the Li Group, including some insignificant contracts and even some tedious internal approval procedures.

Ye Ningwan felt a little discouraged. Could it be that she couldn't find anything today?

She was unwilling to return empty-handed.

There was a soft knocking at the door; it was from the bodyguard who had brought him there earlier.

"Little maid, are you done?"

The bodyguard's voice was very soft, with a hint of something ambiguous, but unfortunately Ye Ningwan was busy with her own work and didn't notice this subtle unease.

Just as Ye Ningwan was standing on tiptoe checking the documents on the top shelf of the cabinet, she suddenly heard a very faint creaking sound behind her.

The study door opened, revealing a dimly lit room. Light from the corridor streamed in, casting a long, crooked strip of light on the floor, within which stretched an excessively long, slanted shadow.

Ye Ningwan, however, kept her back to the door, as if she hadn't noticed anything, and continued to struggle with the cabinet.

The bodyguard stared at Ye Ningwan's slender back, his gaze lingering on her tiny waist accentuated by the maid's uniform for a long time before finally withdrawing his greedy and drooling gaze and slowly closing the study door.

As the door closed, the light and shadow on the ground were torn longer and thinner, finally slicing open completely, sealing the light out of the door and leaving only a silent gloom.

Click.

The door was locked.

It was a deliberately made sound, which made it exceptionally clear in the silent room; even the most oblivious person should have heard it.

With that crisp sound, Ye Ningwan finally turned around.

In the darkness, she looked at the bodyguard behind her by the moonlight, blinked her cat-like eyes, and asked as if she were oblivious.

"How did you get in? Weren't you supposed to be keeping watch outside for me?"

The bodyguard stared at Ye Ningwan, a strange smile playing on his lips. His gaze fell on Ye Ningwan's chest, then gradually moved upwards, finally settling on Ye Ningwan's thick, beautiful face.

He spoke slowly, but what he said had absolutely nothing to do with Ye Ningwan's question.

"I never imagined that the legendary Q was actually a woman!"

As the bodyguard spoke, he flipped his palm over, and a red heart Q was clipped between his fingers. The corner of the paper gently brushed against Ye Ningwan's cheek, slowly moving down her collarbone. Just as he was about to clip it... Ye Ningwan grabbed the bodyguard's wrist.

The innocent and naive expression on Ye Ningwan's face vanished instantly.

"You know who I am and you still dare to lay a hand on me? Don't you want your claws anymore?"

The bodyguard chuckled softly.

"I still prefer you the way you are now."

He leaned closer to Ye Ningwan and whispered in her ear.

"So... a collaboration? Take Li Mochuan's head, split the prize money, my Red Queen?"

Ye Ningwan's gaze fell on the other person's unremarkable face. In the moonlight, she could see a very faint, thin line on the side of the bodyguard's ear, a trace left after the disguise.

She gave a soft hum, then, remembering the message she'd seen when she casually checked her phone earlier, raised an eyebrow and asked.

"Are you K?"

The bodyguard wore a cryptic smile and responded after a few seconds.

“Yes, I am K. Our names are such a perfect match. I suddenly feel that when we’re killing each other, maybe we could…”

As he spoke, he suddenly slammed Ye Ningwan against the bookshelf, his tall frame pressing down on her. He took a deep breath on Ye Ningwan's neck and shoulders with abandon, and sighed with a hint of enjoyment.

"You smell so good. You have a strange attraction that makes all men fall for you. Baby, are you some kind of enchantress?"

Ye Ningwan let out a snort of laughter from her nose, her dark, deep cat-like eyes fixed on the bodyguard's eyes.

A snap of his fingers, accompanied by Ye Ningwan's seductive voice, rang in his ears.

"Yes, I am your master, and you have to listen to everything I say."

The bodyguard's dark gray pupils lost their light in that instant. As his pupils dimmed, they met Ye Ningwan's smiling gaze. Numb and stiff, he moved his upper body away from Ye Ningwan's side, bent one knee, and knelt down at Ye Ningwan's feet like a servant.

"Yes, my master."

Ye Ningwan, wearing a rubber glove, pinched the other person's chin.

"If you're not K, then who are you?"

This was not Ye Ningwan's guess, but a certainty.

Although she had never met K, they had chatted backstage and even crossed paths once during a mission a few years ago.

Although the two did not meet that time, they cooperated very well. Ye Ningwan felt that the other party was not the kind of shameless, lewd, and despicable person she knew.

She was absolutely certain that she hadn't misjudged him!

Sure enough, the thing kneeling at his feet spoke.

"Yes, Master, I am not K, I am the Magician."

Ye Ningwan raised an eyebrow, a hint of disgust flashing in her eyes. She released her grip on the other person's chin, feeling utterly disgusted.

The Magician is also a well-known figure on the dark web.
