Chapter 189, /.

Ye Ningwan was completely devastated.

Holy crap! If she remembered correctly, the other person was a person in a vegetative state who had just woken up, right?

What's going on with this energetic and lively spirit?

Ye Ningwan, who only wanted to touch his chest muscles, had no intention of offering herself up, but Pei Fengzhi on top of her looked ready to pounce!

Help!

Seeing that Pei Fengzhi wanted to hug her, Ye Ningwan reached out and pressed her hands against Pei Fengzhi's chest, her palms burning from the heat of his chest.

"Don't move!"

Pei Fengzhi's dark eyes were tinged with a touch of crimson as he suppressed the madness in his eyes, his voice hoarse and trembling.

"You touched a place you shouldn't have."

Ye Ningwan swallowed hard, her little face scrunched up.

"No... I'm sorry, I didn't know... I didn't mean to... Please forgive me!"

Even though the changes in his body couldn't lie, Pei Fengzhi's pale face still held a restrained and aloof expression, and he frowned slightly.

"Are you afraid of me? Aren't we husband and wife?"

Ye Ningwan didn't know how to explain it for a moment.

She had no choice but to slowly move out from under Pei Fengzhi, crawling to the foot of the bed with both hands and feet, hugging her legs with both hands, trying her best to create as much distance as possible from this man, before finally letting out a sigh of relief.

"I'm just a bride that the Pei family found to bring you good luck."

Pei Fengzhi fell silent again.

He propped himself up and slowly sat up, pulling the wedding robes that had been tossed aside and draping them over his shoulders. The bright red robes, instead of capturing the essence of spring, made his porcelain-white skin appear even whiter than snow. His long, jet-black hair cascaded down, partially obscuring his face, and paired with his exquisitely handsome, aloof features, he was simply irresistibly tempting.

Pei Fengzhi, on the other hand, seemed oblivious to all of this, his long, raven-feather-like eyelashes drooping as he pondered something to himself.

Ye Ningwan felt like she was about to stop breathing. How could there be such a stunningly handsome man in this world?

She swallowed hard, unable to resist reaching out that wicked claw again.

Just then, Pei Fengzhi suddenly looked up, and Ye Ningwan's hand froze in mid-air, unable to move forward or backward.

Ye Ningwan always felt that Pei Fengzhi's words were strange.

"The taste? Familiar?"

Pei Fengzhi said confidently to Ye Ningwan.

"We must have met somewhere before, you smell wonderful."

Ye Ningwan didn't believe it.

She has an IQ of 220 and an extraordinary memory. She can remember anyone or anything she has seen at a glance, and it is absolutely impossible for her to forget them.

She was certain that she had never met Pei Fengzhi.

Just as Ye Ningwan was about to retort, a sudden inspiration struck her, and she immediately swallowed back the words that were on the tip of her tongue.

She instantly adopted a look of confusion and doubt, leaned closer to Pei Fengzhi, stared at his face, and murmured.

"What a coincidence, I also feel like I've seen you before in a dream."

She gave a perfectly appropriate shy smile, her face slightly flushed, and continued to deceive Pei Fengzhi.

"This might be what they call fate!"

Pei Fengzhi seemed oblivious, staring intently at Ye Ningwan's face as he spoke with utmost seriousness.

"Although you said we've never met, I feel your taste is very familiar to me."

Pei Fengzhi looked up at her, a faint shadow falling into his dark eyes that was almost imperceptible.

"Is it really just fate?"

Ye Ningwan's eyes flickered, and then she suddenly continued speaking, following Pei Fengzhi's lead.

"Maybe not? Or maybe there's something symbolic about me that you can remember."

As she spoke, Ye Ningwan pulled out a photo from somewhere and held it almost right under Pei Fengzhi's nose.

The cunning fox, its eyes gleaming with anticipation, revealed its ultimate goal.

"Have you seen this jade pendant before? I've worn it since I was a child."

Pei Fengzhi stared at the jade pendant in the photo for a long time, and finally shook his head helplessly.

"I don't remember."

Ye Ningwan was a little anxious, and she spoke immediately.

"Perhaps the photo isn't very clear. My jade pendant is at the Ye family's house. I'll go get it and show it to you, and maybe then you'll remember it!"

Ye Ningwan regretted it at that moment. She had lost the best opportunity to get the jade pendant back because she had negotiated with Ye Zhenning about marrying into the Pei family in his place. She should have just asked Ye Zhenning for it back.

Seeing that Ye Ningwan seemed determined to return to the Ye family tonight to retrieve the jade pendant, Pei Fengzhi immediately stopped her.

He said to Ye Ningwan in a low voice, with a hint of helplessness.

"In fact, I lost most of my memories after I woke up... so..."

Pei Fengzhi's words struck Ye Ningwan like a thunderbolt.

She snapped back to her senses, lunged forward, and fiercely grabbed the bright red wedding dress draped over Pei Fengzhi's shoulders, her thick, beautiful face gradually contorting into a ferocious expression.

"What did you say!"

Pei Fengzhi stared intently at Ye Ningwan, who was almost right in front of him, his dark, deep pupils fixed on her. As he watched Ye Ningwan's delicate lips move in and out, a faint blush crept onto the tips of Pei Fengzhi's ears, but he suppressed it and disguised it well.

Seeing that Pei Fengzhi had been silent for a long time, Ye Ningwan suddenly became like a mechanical doll that had lost all its power, letting go of Pei Fengzhi's hand and slumping down with her shoulders slumped.

She plopped down on the ground, hugged herself tightly, and was so sad that she didn't want to say a word.

Looking at the pitiful, damp, and dark creature on the ground, resembling a mushroom, for some reason, the usually cold-hearted and aloof Master Pei felt a sudden pang of sympathy.

He crouched down and gently stroked Ye Ningwan's long, silky hair, his tone tinged with confusion.
