...The little guy, with his hair all messed up from sleeping, and his long, narrow phoenix eyes still half-closed in sleep, asked in a groggy, hoarse voice.
"Aunt Ruan Ruan, what's wrong?"
The little guy has a slightly husky voice, with a childlike softness that is also magnetically pleasant to listen to.
Tang Ruanruan patted Yu Yu's little head and whispered.
"Go back to sleep first. Auntie will go check on you. Don't come out unless Auntie tells you to!"
Tang Ruanruan kept Ye Ningwan's instructions in mind, especially at times like this, and dared not let the two children be exposed to others.
She cautiously walked to the door, turned on the monitor on the wall, and saw two burly, tall men and a middle-aged woman who looked noble and aloof.
Tang Ruanruan hesitated, not daring to open the door easily, and asked them through the surveillance camera.
"Who are you? Knocking on my door in the middle of the night, aren't you afraid I'll call the police?!"
The man at the door heard Tang Ruanruan's voice coming from the monitor, and finally stopped knocking and stepped aside.
The middle-aged woman then stepped forward and spoke to Tang Ruanruan.
"Is this Ms. Tang? We've come to tell you something very important, about your child!"
The mention of her two children made Tang Ruanruan's heart leap into her throat, and she nervously clutched her chest.
Tang Ruanruan couldn't help but think about it more.
These people mentioned children; are they referring to Little Star and Yu Yu?
Who are they? Could they be related to Little Star and Yu Yu's father, and are they here to kidnap them?
It's still related to the Pei family. They found out about the two children, just like Wanwan said. The Pei family doesn't allow their daughter-in-law to have illegitimate children outside, so they want to get rid of the two children while they are still young.
Tang Ruanruan felt as if a mushroom cloud had exploded in her head in an instant, shattering all her composure. Her mind went blank, and her hands and legs were trembling.
After saying that, the person outside the door waited for a long time but did not hear Tang Ruanruan's response. He called Tang Ruanruan several times, unsure of what to do.
"Ms. Tang? Ms. Tang, are you still listening?"
Tang Ruanruan took several deep breaths before she managed to ask the question.
"Just say what you want! What do you want? I'm calling the police!"
Tang Ruanruan called the police repeatedly before realizing that she was holding her phone in her hand. She quickly turned on her phone and dialed 110.
Just as she was about to press the call button, the middle-aged woman outside the door asked.
"Is your son a four or five-year-old boy? I saw him being taken into a car by Pei Jiuye of the Pei family at the yacht club tonight, and he hasn't been released from Pei Jiuye's house yet."
Tang Ruanruan's voice was distorted, her face changed several colors in a row, and her voice almost cracked.
"What did you say? How could Little Star be wandering around outside in the middle of the night? He should be sleeping at home!"
As Tang Ruanruan spoke, she subconsciously turned around and happened to meet Ye Jingyu, who was peeking out of the master bedroom door. She suddenly froze, unable to utter a single word.
"Could it be...?"
Tang Ruanruan recalled the events of the evening. It seemed that she had only seen Ye Jingyu the whole time, and whenever she asked about Little Star, Ye Jingyu always made excuses such as Little Star being asleep or Little Star not wanting to come out.
So... Little Star really did sneak out of the house without me noticing?
The little head that peeked out from the master bedroom door quickly retreated, followed by the sound of the door closing.
Snap!
Tang Ruanruan could easily tell that Ye Jingyu was acting guilty, so she quickly walked into the bedroom.
Sure enough, only Ye Jingyu was sitting on the messy bed on the 1.8-meter-wide bed, with no trace of Xiaoxing.
Tang Ruanruan suppressed her almost frantic inner turmoil, clenched her fists, and then sat down on the edge of the bed to ask Ye Jingyu in a low voice.
"Yuyu, can you tell Aunt Ruanruan where Little Star is?"
Ye Jingyu pondered for a moment, recalling the message Little Star had sent him before he went to sleep, and then he spoke confidently to Tang Ruanruan.
"Little Star is safe now. He said he's sleeping at a familiar uncle's house and will be able to go home first thing tomorrow morning!"
Tang Ruanruan frowned, reached out and touched Yu Yu's little head, and didn't say anything more.
"Yuyu, why don't you go to sleep first?"
Ye Jingyu seemed to realize that he had done something wrong, so he lowered his head guiltily and nodded obediently.
"Um."
Tang Ruanruan covered Ye Jingyu with a blanket after he lay down, and only left the room after confirming that Ye Jingyu was really asleep, somewhat worried.
Before leaving, she took out her key and locked the master bedroom.
She's going to go with the people outside to call the police, so for safety's sake, it's best to lock Yuyu in the room.
Tang Ruanruan locked the door before opening it, looking at the two tall, burly men guarding the entrance.
She looked at the woman in the middle who seemed very aloof, frowned and questioned her.
"I can agree to your request and go to the police station with you, but I want to know who you are? Why are you helping me? What benefits do you get from this?"
Tang Ruanruan gritted her teeth and said, word by word.
"If you don't tell me, I won't call the police as you want! Then your goal will be thwarted!"
The middle-aged woman at the head of the group glanced at Tang Ruanruan with a cool smile, but her expression did not soften because of the smile; on the contrary, it was quite harsh.
