Infected at the start and exiled to the City of Strange Species.
Octopus extended its tentacles: What is this? Let's suck it!
Goat extended its hooves: What is this? Let's suck ...
Eric's extravagant behavior gave Saïd and Gu Li a slight shock. They nodded subconsciously when they heard those words. Eric stood half a step behind Gu Li.
They followed Eric instinctively until Gu Li gave them a strange look, and she looked helplessly at Eric, who had a smile on his face.
He said to the two men, "Are you following behind me to act as my bodyguards?"
Saide and his companion quickened their pace without changing their expressions and walked to her side. Saide coughed lightly and said, "I forgot to ask earlier, is it appropriate for us to go?"
Alfoseny was more direct: "Don't worry about us."
Eric met Ernst Levy's gaze in the principal's office, his expression seemingly subtle: "No, this matter concerns you as well. Come in."
Ernst had been waiting there for a while. He looked at Eric's young and handsome face, narrowed his eyes, and his expression seemed to be reminiscing.
"Please sit down."
Eric, very naturally friendly, poured everyone a cup of black tea. In the room filled with the aroma of black tea, he repeated his self-introduction: "Good afternoon, Headmaster. I am Rosselli Eric, Miss Gu Li's housekeeper."
Gu Li was now able to nod and agree to his words with great composure. In a sense, Eric was indeed the butler.
Cen Xingbang is probably the patriarch who controls the family's economic lifeline.
Principal Ernst seemed to choke on his tea, covering his mouth with a handkerchief and coughing for a while before calming down. He then looked at Eric, whose every move exuded elegance and restraint, with a subtle gaze.
He sighed after a long pause, his teacup clinking softly on the table. "So, Rossini, what do you want to talk to me about?"
Alfoseni glanced at the two men with some surprise. Their attitude was different from what he had imagined, even if they weren't so arrogant with their partners.
It shouldn't be like this, so overly gentle and yielding.
What surprised him even more was Eric's next words.
"On my way here, I also took the opportunity to clean up the Mysterious Church," Eric continued, adding that the organization was familiar to everyone present as the source of the potion. "But unfortunately, I only encountered some small fry; most of the strongholds were deserted."
Eric took a sip of tea: "They disappeared when Bellamy and Grantham both showed unusual behavior."
He looked up at Ernst: "I think we all know what this means?"
Ernst's expression gradually softened, and his pale green eyes fixed on the familiar face before him. His distant but profound memories from decades ago began to surface.
Ernst waited in silence for him to continue. A person may change their behavior, but what is deeply ingrained in their soul will not change.
Rossini Eric was never a passive person; when he knew the enemy's movements, he always had a plan in mind.
really.
“We can help defend against an invasion from Grantham. As you know, Grantham has been a major headache, both decades ago and now.”
Ernst narrowed his eyes: "What are the conditions?"
Eric downed his tea in one gulp, a slight smile appearing on the old headmaster's face. For a moment, he seemed to see Rossini Eric from fifty years ago, a man full of youthful vigor and never giving up.
Eric took off one glove, stood up, and, amidst the astonished looks of the others, took Gu Li's hand: "My condition is the restoration of the Eleventh Legion; she is our legion commander."
Gu Li looked up and met Eric's gaze as he showed off, barely managing not to expose him on the spot, though a few smiles couldn't be suppressed in her sky-blue eyes.
Said and Alfoseni stared at them in near horror. The Federation had rarely seen anyone build a new legion in all these years, and they knew that Gu Li had been recruited by Celine.
Perhaps establishing a legion isn't so far-fetched for her, but that's something that will happen in the future, and it's unlikely that either side would agree to it now.
Ernst was silent for a moment: "I will discuss it with them."
"This won't happen too quickly, so be prepared."
Having received the expected reply, Eric leaned back on the sofa and nodded: "Okay, I know their style, but I still hope you can do it as soon as possible, after all, time waits for no one."
Next, they started discussing the division of profits back and forth. The three of them, who had been just background figures throughout, gradually went from being tense to being bored.
Gu Li gestured to the two of them with her eyes: What should we eat tonight?
Saide blinked: "Sneak out to buy some groceries and have some barbecue?"
Gu Li: Great!
Alfoseny, who had been distracted by Eric's conversation, suddenly straightened up as if nothing had happened, blocking the two people behind him who were openly whispering and daydreaming.
Unexpectedly, Eric, who suddenly turned around and looked at him, just gave him a very friendly smile.
Alfoseni felt embarrassed by being caught doing something unnecessary, but fortunately, Gu Li saved him in time.
She gently tugged at his sleeve from behind and mouthed silently: "Let's go to my dorm for barbecue later?"
He nodded cautiously.
Eric watched their interaction, and a smile suddenly appeared in his eyes. Miss Gu Li was at the age where she needed playmates of the same age.
The three's barbecue plan ultimately did not materialize. After the conversation, Eric took them to his temporary residence—a villa with a garden in the city center.
Gu Li stood at the door in silence for a long time, reflecting on his previous behavior of saving money for everyone because he thought they would not have enough.
