Chapter 2 City of Alien Species

After falling for quite some time, and with the pursuers not yet arriving,

Gu Li's heart sank. After freefalling for so long, she still hadn't reached the bottom. Even if there was a river below, she would still fall to her death from this height.

After barely managing to open her eyes, she gazed at the river below, which was getting closer and closer, and tears streamed down her face.

"Aa ...

She closed her eyes peacefully yet desperately, and when she discovered that the wind was blowing her eyes so she couldn't close them, she felt even more sorrowful.

His body plummeted straight down through the air like a tattered rag, with occasional drops of scarlet liquid dripping from the wounds on his back.

For a moment, the cave on the cliff face, which seemed to be covered by an opaque curtain and was exceptionally dark, writhed irregularly, or looked like a huge black pupil turning left and right.

He directed his gaze downwards and locked onto a pure human being in freefall.

The crimson liquid, exuding a sweet yet maddening aura, splashed into the darkness and was then swallowed up and disappeared.

Gu Li felt as if her body was gradually becoming numb and losing sensation. The wound on her back, which was contracting due to the tension in her body, was like a faucet that had been turned on, constantly overflowing with warm liquid.

While she was in a daze, the dark cliff, which was dozens of kilometers away from the alien city and as silent as the death wasteland, began to stir.

On the cliff, Wang Li's calloused hands steadily held the sniper rifle, aiming at that exceptionally pale and slender body.

His orders were to completely eliminate them.

With an extremely steady hand holding the gun, Wang Li effortlessly aimed at the falling figure, his pupils gradually turning cold.

His index finger twitched slightly as he pulled the trigger, a sudden sense of foreboding rising within him, his muscles tensing to the limit.

This intuition allowed him to survive time and time again on the perilous battlefields against the alien species.

We can't hesitate any longer!

"Execute the command."

The bullet, accompanied by a gust of wind, was fired rapidly. In less than two seconds, the weak-gene pure human would be completely wiped out from this world.

The ground beneath their feet began to tremble slightly. At first, only one or two small pebbles bounced and fell off the cliff, but soon it turned into a series of continuous tremors coming from the depths of the earth.

Wang Li's expression changed drastically behind the mask. He immediately made a retreat gesture and straightened up, trembling all over.

But it was too late.

Almost the entire squad witnessed it.

From the bottom of the cliff, a horde of twisted alien creatures emerged in the blink of an eye, almost blotting out the sky. They unfurled wings that looked like countless twisted, black tentacles.

On the tip of each feather grew a crystal-clear yet murky egg, trembling up and down, dragging out a soft, wet, and enormous body.

In just a few breaths, it almost filled their entire field of vision.

The slender, light-colored body disappeared into it.

The entire squad lost its fighting ability almost instantly; their minds were distorted and alienated, and their bodies were stretched into strange shapes by their thoughts.

Standing on the edge of the cliff, Wang Li trembled all over, using almost all his strength to keep himself from going insane.

Suppressing the urge to jump off the cliff, he caressed, kissed, and even popped those eyeball-shaped follicles.

They retreated into their cold, damp, and peaceful dark nest.

As the thing flew toward the city of aliens, the tall warrior, who was armed to the bone, knelt on one knee, staring intently in the direction it disappeared.

An overwhelming sense of reluctance and loss welled up in my heart.

The hands hanging by their sides had their own will, bending upwards in an impossible posture, and several sounds of bones cracking echoed across the empty plain.

Wang Li looked dazed. Before he completely became His servant, he pressed the button on his waist with the gloves that seemed to be filled with viscous liquid.

The massive steel needles hidden inside his combat suit pierced his side, penetrating his still-unmutated organs. The intense pain, almost killing him, brought him back to his senses.

Immediately afterwards, a faint healing power belonging to the Child of Light seeped into his body, preventing him from being killed by the emergency measures.

Regaining his senses amidst the intense pain, Wang Li staggered to his feet and quickly glanced at his teammates, who could no longer maintain their human form.

A choked sob escaped from his throat, sounding inhuman.

Several loud gunshots rang out across the wasteland.

Just as Gu Li's body was about to fall into the river at a terrifying speed and be smashed into a pulp, it suddenly felt light.

She seemed to fall into a dark, muddy place in mid-air, her whole body sinking deeper and deeper, with only deep darkness in front of her.

Instinctively, I reached out and grabbed a soft sphere. My consciousness was suddenly struck by something invisible, and I was plunged into endless darkness.

This city, scarred by industrial black smoke, still retains the decorating style of the last century, and the little angels walking their birds naked on the rooftops have lost their original sanctity.

Those eyes, blackened by smoke, rotated inorganically, ceaselessly surveying this moss-covered, abandoned city day and night.

The houses were packed tightly together with many windows, and countless prying eyes thronged and crowded into the dark windows.

Indistinct whispers arose from all directions, all looking in one direction.

"The king... the king has appeared."

"What is that...?"

"It smells so good."

"It's the king eating..."

"It smells so good..."

"It smells so good, so good, so good..."

The whispers gradually became more urgent, and as the first door opened, the remaining unspeakable monsters swarmed out of the darkness one after another.

Some couldn't wait to squeeze through the cracks in the windows and doors, rushing towards that maddening smell.
