Chapter 65 Building Our Home, Never Forgetting Our Original Aspiration

The two of them fell down together, and when they opened their eyes again, all they could see was darkness. Even though not only the ceiling above them but also the door to the room had been opened, the dim light seemed to be blocked by something.

After only a short while, she lost her sense of time. Gu Li's light-colored eyes searched around in the darkness, her brows furrowing slightly.

It should be said that this is something that can confuse people's perception.

The surrounding darkness was no longer a natural shadow formed by the absence of light; it had been given life by something, creating ripples around them.

The feeling of being constantly enveloped by something sent a chill down Ning Jia's spine. It was as if they were encased in something, ready to be swallowed whole at any moment.

She felt a pang of regret, but gripped the girl's hand even tighter, her voice hoarse and her eyes glazed over: "You...you stay close to me for a bit."

Gu Li glanced at the hand that was being held. The hand covering the back of her hand was still sweaty, and a soft clicking sound rang out in the darkness.

Ning Jia cocked the gun with one hand.

Gu Li's sky-blue eyes gradually turned murky black. She first followed Ning Jia forward, her eyes darting nimbly over the pale bodies that kept brushing past them.

She watched helplessly as Ning Jia nearly kissed the strange face that was coming towards her for the third time, so she simply stepped forward and took the initiative to lead her away.

The reasons are also quite valid.

Gu Li, taking advantage of the fact that Ning Jia's vision should be confused at the moment, said without changing his expression: "I think I can feel where my props are. Let me lead the way. Ning Jia, you keep watch behind me."

She knew He Shiyi's location as soon as she entered the third floor of the house. Rather than saying he was in a certain place, it would be more accurate to say that his presence was omnipresent throughout the entire space.

Gu Li looked at the pale, distorted human figures that almost filled the entire space around him and clicked his tongue. Was Duran's brother really that hated?

Is this like raising a venomous insect in the bedroom?

Gu Li didn't understand, but was greatly shocked.

Her wrists were still shackled, so she could only spread her wings discreetly in the darkness, the aura of the manipulator spreading out.

As expected, those things cowered and made way for them.

Gu Li nodded in satisfaction, though a chill ran down her spine.

The two headed straight for the area with the heaviest pollution. Ning Jia listened to her unwavering steps and wasn't sure if she was truly confident or just fearless.

Ning Jia's breathing became increasingly difficult. She smiled bitterly; this was a level-one contaminated area, and Gu Li probably had no idea what that meant.

Gu Li suddenly stopped, and the woman beside her seemed to breathe a sigh of relief. Her hands were shackled and held by Ning Jia, so she could only tentatively stretch out her wings and reach towards the hem of her clothes.

He swatted away the black tentacles that were wrapped around his clothes, and the tentacles fell to the ground with a thud before he could react.

Then Ning Jia approached again, bewildered and frightened: "Did you... hear anything?"

Gu Li glanced at the twisted, crawling branch on the ground, and at the distorted human face pressed against her face less than twenty centimeters away, and rolled her eyes.

It spread its wings again and swatted away He Shiyi, who was trying to run back with the spoils of war.

This time, the branch was flung against the opposite wall with a solid thud.

Ning Jia suddenly pointed the gun in her hand in that direction, reached out and pulled Gu Li behind her, her tone urgent: "There's wind! Something's coming! Get hidden."

Gu Li froze as it retracted its wings, gradually slowing down until it finally did so. The hole torn open on its back by the wings let out a chilling breeze.

She coughed lightly: "How come I didn't feel anything?"

Under Gu Li's intense gaze, He Shiyi, who was somehow locked in combat with this monster whose entire body was composed of human corpses, extended a tentacle covered in black slime from the darkness and gently coiled it around her long hair behind her.

As He Shiyi gradually withdrew, the darkness that filled the room gradually faded, revealing the huge, pale snake body coiled in the center of the room.

The moment Ning Jia saw the corpse snake clearly, her pupils dilated suddenly, and a familiar sense of deprivation instantly overwhelmed her reason.

A series of explosive shots suddenly rang out from outside the door. Ning Jia's chest heaved violently. The huge corpse snake in the center of the room moved accordingly, and a string of pale corpses that had merged with the alien species flew towards them with a shriek.

As the room gradually brightened, Gu Li seized the opportunity to rip the obsidian headband off her hair and grabbed Ning Jia, leaping to the side.

She tugged at Ning Jia's sleeve and whispered, "Sister Ning Jia, I found my things! Let's hurry and meet up with Xu Feihe!"

Gu Li casually blamed the mess at the scene on the corpse snake.

This was a missionary close to the level of a family member, and even Ning Jia, who had received professional training, dared not look at it for long.

She felt the oppressive feeling around her gradually lessen. Hearing this, she glanced at Gu Li, who seemed to have unintentionally led her away from the attack, and nodded after a second of silence: "Okay!"

Unfortunately, Xu Feihe outside seemed unable to hear their voices. Dense gunfire rained down like a storm, constantly striking the corpse snake.

This also deterred the two people hiding near the door from making any rash moves.

The corpse snake possessed a faint intelligence. Its several pairs of pale eyes glanced fearfully at the thin and delicious human, then resolutely twisted its body, carrying a form composed of countless corpses, and nimbly slithered away across the ground.

Ning Jia's throat tightened as she felt the thing slide past her not far in front of her, making a slippery sound as it rubbed against the ground.
