Chapter 76 Sacrifices

When the people trapped in the hall realized something was wrong and tried to escape, the surrounding walls were already covered with spider-like alien creatures.

Those spiders with human faces dragged huge, soft, smooth abdomens behind them, moving eight curved human legs, their enormous bodies moving silently along the wall.

Eight single eyes reflected a cold light, watching the terrified humans below. The silk threads they emitted were as thick as fingers, gradually extending from the wall to the feet of the crowd.

Someone drew their gun and fired in terror: "What's going on? How could there be aliens inside the base! Ah—"

The gun was fired by a burly man with a face full of scars. The bullet pierced the spider-like creature's body, and the creature cried out in pain. In an instant, spider silk pierced through his neck, suspending him in a hoist.

The finger-thick spider silk didn't kill him instantly. He screamed in terror as he was pulled into the air, clutching his neck as it arched back and tearing at the silk with all his might.

But this only made the gushing blood flow even more freely, and the pure white spider silk was quickly stained red by the flowing blood.

The others watched in horror as the man was pierced through the throat and hung up in the blink of an eye. Blood splattered onto their faces as he struggled, making the atmosphere even more tense.

Fear hung in the air.

The low screams were muffled by mouths, and hundreds of people huddled together in the middle of the hall.

Unseen by them, the blood dripping from mid-air disappeared into the regular yet eerie patterns on the ground.

The enormous magic circle composed of insect corpses gradually lit up.

Someone rushed frantically to Bai Biaozi, grabbed him by the collar, lifted him up, and demanded fiercely, "What the hell is going on! Open the door now! Don't force me to take action!"

The man with the white badge stared at him with cold eyes, his cheek muscles twitching involuntarily. Enraged, he punched the man in the face.

"What are you looking at...? What are you looking at...?"

The man's pupils suddenly dilated, and before he could even lower his fist, he met the gaze of the cold compound eye in Bai Biaobiao's neck, and for a moment his expression became somewhat wooden.

The cracked muscle fibers in his neck struggled futilely, but his head had already fallen to the ground at everyone's feet.

"Gurgle."

The sound of the head rolling was very faint, yet the entire space fell silent.

Julie stared at the head that rolled in front of her, a scream caught in her throat, but her whole body was already trembling uncontrollably.

She was just an ordinary resident of District 1, but she was quite lucky and had already received an acceptance letter from the Federal University.

Her major was logistics, but that was enough for her to achieve upward social mobility.

But all the good fortune of the past eighteen years seemed to have been exhausted today. Her eyes were fixed on the head that had been smashed off with a punch, and she prayed unconsciously.

Whoever it is, please come quickly and save her, save them!

Julie suddenly noticed that the man who had thrown the punch had stopped moving, but his body was still trembling slightly.

Her chaotic mind suddenly calmed down, perhaps because a sudden surge of sense of crisis amplified her five senses like never before.

She heard the sound of blood dripping.

...and the sound of dense climbing.

Julie slowly raised her hand to cover her mouth, and backed away little by little until her back touched the chest of the person behind her.

The man impatiently shoved her and yelled, "What are you doing! Women are such a hassle, don't push and shove!"

Afraid of disturbing something, Julie covered her lips, turned around, looked over with tear-filled eyes, and shook her head vigorously.

Be quiet!

But it was too late.

The man was still venting his anger.

The spider-like creatures had already looked over immediately, and what chilled Julie even more was the heavy thud of their bodies hitting the ground behind her.

She stood frozen in place, even her breathing became soft.

She remembered that spiders have poor eyesight and rely on hearing and smell to locate their prey.

The man finally realized something was wrong and fled frantically through the crowd, his face pale. No matter how he moved or hid, the spider-like creatures kept their eyes glued to him.

When he realized that running away would only make the monsters on the walls keep a closer eye on his location, several spider silk threads had already pierced through his neck.

Several more people were hanging in mid-air.

The more panicked and chaotic the situation, the sooner people will be hung from the ceiling. Only when everyone has barely calmed down or is terrified will the rate of death slow down.

By this time, the ceiling was filled with people, and the stench of blood permeated every inch of the space. Everyone standing below had been doused with blood, and every face was numb.

They were trapped in this pre-made cage, awaiting their impending death.

When the ground magic circle was completely soaked in blood, an uncontrollable tremor came from the corner.

"What the hell are these things?!"

They finally discovered the insect corpse magic circle that had completely emerged beneath their feet. The corpses were soaked in blood and emitted a faint red glow.

Julie stood at the edge of the magic circle and tentatively took a step forward, only to be spotted by the headless corpse.

Only when the feet are pulled back into the formation will the corpse, with countless insects surging inside its severed neck, quiet down.

Everyone realized that they were trapped in this strange summoning circle.

And what is about to appear will definitely not spare their lives.

Death was the only option; some people collapsed to the ground in despair.

"Bang--"

A loud bang came from behind. Julie was startled. She turned around blankly. Who would dare to make a move at this time?

More violent kicking sounds followed.

"Bang bang bang—"
