Chapter 100 Gathering Intelligence

Zhao Moyan didn't eat dinner. After Li Yong left in a hurry, Zhao Moyan stayed in the study and didn't come out. Tian Yu absentmindedly accompanied Tangyuan to dinner. Tangyuan was still worried about Zhao Moyan and asked, "Mom, didn't you say Dad was fine? Why didn't he come to eat?"

"Don't worry, Tangyuan. Your father may have something to take care of. Your mother will have someone bring him food in a little while, so you don't need to worry."

"All right!"

Tian Yu gave Tangyuan a bath and told him a story. After Tangyuan fell asleep, she left the room and closed the door. Qiu Ju and Lü Liu were waiting outside. Tian Yu asked, "Has the Marquis eaten?"

"Not yet, Madam," Qiuju replied.

"Okay, I understand. You can all go and rest now! You don't need to follow me anymore," Tian Yu said.

"Yes!" After watching the two leave, Tian Yu returned to her room and sat in front of the bronze mirror. Looking at herself in the mirror, Tian Yu was startled because she saw a dark figure in the mirror. She stood up in fright, wanting to scream, but the figure covered her mouth. Tian Yu stared wide-eyed at the person who had appeared, and in her terror, she saw the mask slowly calm down and say, "Gongye Ming!?"

Gongye Ming nodded and let go of his hand.

"How did you know I live here? I don't think I've ever said who I am?" Tian Yu asked.

"That's easy to find out."

"Is there something you need?"

"The time has been moved up, you should know that, right?"

"Yeah! I just found out too."

“We don’t know any specific clues yet. When do you plan to find out any information?”

"I understand, let me think about it some more."

"Think about it again! It might be too late if we wait any longer."

“I know, but I…” Tian Yu couldn’t think of a reason, but she didn’t know what to choose.

“I’ll be waiting for you at the back door. If you haven’t gotten any clues about the other party by dawn, the mission will be canceled,” Gongye Ming interrupted Tian Yu.

Gongye Ming's shadow vanished into the night in a flash. Tian Yu sat at the table for a while, picked up a comb to brush her hair, took off the jade pendant Chen Chong had given her and put it away, then quietly left the room. She asked Uncle Zhou about Zhao Moyan's situation, then went to the kitchen to cook a bowl of noodles and brought it to Zhao Moyan's study.

Tian Yu looked at the door in front of her, wanting to turn around and leave, but then thought she couldn't. She mustered up her courage and used one hand to knock on the door. After waiting for a long time, there was no response from inside. If the light hadn't been on, Tian Yu would have thought that Zhao Moyan wasn't inside, or that he was asleep. She turned around and wanted to leave.

"Come in!"

As soon as Zhao Moyan's voice rang out, Tian Yu immediately regretted coming here, her heart pounding with anxiety. But since she was already here, she could only lower her head and push open the door. She saw Zhao Moyan sitting at his desk, still writing. After entering, Tian Yu closed the door behind her, put the noodles on the desk, and said, "Uncle Zhou said you haven't had dinner yet, so I cooked you a bowl of noodles."

"Just leave it there!" Zhao Moyan said without even looking up.

"The noodles won't taste good when they get cold, so eat them while they're hot!" Tian Yu said, moving closer.

“Alright!” Zhao Moyan put down his pen and pushed aside the folded document.

Tian Yu placed the noodles in front of him. Zhao Moyan looked at Tian Yu, seemingly wanting to say something but not speaking. He then took the chopsticks Tian Yu handed him and began to eat. Tian Yu didn't know what to do, so she tentatively reached out to help tidy up the memorials on the table. Seeing that Zhao Moyan didn't object, she carefully put the memorials away one by one. Taking this opportunity, Tian Yu saw a piece of paper tucked among the memorials. She glanced at it briefly and saw that it was about Chen Chong. Without daring to look closely, she quickly put it away.

Seeing that Zhao Moyan had almost finished eating, Tian Yu dawdled as she cleared away the dishes. Zhao Moyan tilted his head and looked at Tian Yu, asking, "Is there anything else?"

Tian Yu said in a flustered manner, "No! It's just that Tangyuan was worried about you and thought you were sick."

Zhao Moyan took Tian Yu's hand and placed it on his forehead, asking, "And what about you?"

"Hmm, me!?" Tian Yu was a little confused, but seeing Zhao Moyan's expression, she immediately understood, withdrew her hand and said, "You are Tangyuan's father, of course I'm worried about you too."

"Tangyuan's father!?" Zhao Moyan muttered to himself.

"You don't look well today, did something happen?" Tian Yu asked.

"No! Is Tangyuan asleep?"

"Go to sleep, you should get some rest too!" Tian Yu said, glancing at the memorials on the table before picking up her bowl and leaving. But just as her hand touched the bowl, Zhao Moyan pulled her back and sat her on his lap. Tian Yu looked at Zhao Moyan in alarm.

Tian Yu wanted to say something, but seeing Zhao Moyan's injured expression, and those dark eyes that were usually cold but now seemed as clear as a bottomless lake, Tian Yu was speechless for a moment. She swallowed back her words of refusal and changed her question to, "What's wrong? What happened?"

"Have you thought it through? When do you plan to tell me your answer?" Zhao Moyan asked.

"Tomorrow!" Tian Yu thought for a moment and replied.

"Okay! I'll be waiting."

Tian Yu looked at Zhao Moyan, who had moved even closer, and struggled to stand up. She glanced again at the folded booklet with the note inside, her heart pounding with nervousness, unsure what to do, and she began to regret coming in. Zhao Moyan then stood up, trapping Tian Yu between himself and the table. Tian Yu leaned back, not wanting to get too close, but Zhao Moyan lifted her by the waist and placed her on the table. Tian Yu gasped, holding onto Zhao Moyan's arm, but didn't pull away, facing him directly. Zhao Moyan, bracing himself on the table, lowered his head and kissed Tian Yu's forehead. Seeing that she didn't resist but only blinked at him, he kissed her eyes again, observing her reaction. Tian Yu only lightly... She gently closed her eyes, and when Zhao Moyan left, she opened them again to look at him. Zhao Moyan lowered his head and gently kissed Tian Yu's lips again. He looked up at her, and she was still looking at him with her big eyes. But the hand gripping Zhao Moyan's arm tightened unconsciously. Tian Yu wanted to escape, but she held back, remembering her purpose for being there. She could only pretend to be calm and look at Zhao Moyan. Seeing that Tian Yu didn't refuse, Zhao Moyan kissed her again. Tian Yu closed her eyes and accepted his kiss. Her hands slowly moved up to wrap around his neck. Zhao Moyan sensed the change in Tian Yu and hugged her tightly, somewhat excited. The two kissed passionately, forgetting everything else.
