Tian Yu, an orphan, transmigrated to another world after a car accident. She woke up to find herself with a 5-year-old son and a husband who had long disappeared.
Just as she was about to sta...
In the urgency of the situation, Tian Yu didn't have time to think and quickly climbed onto the carriage. She saw an old man sitting inside and was stunned for a moment. Then she realized that this was the person Chen Chong had come to pick up. Although she didn't recognize him, Tian Yu still nodded and smiled politely before sitting down.
The old man glanced at Tian Yu and nodded in agreement before closing his eyes to rest. Tian Yu opened the window to look outside, and Gongye Ming stepped back to the window and said to Tian Yu and Chen Chong, "You must leave quickly, the soldiers will catch up soon. Leave this to me."
Chen Chong nodded, summoned the remaining guard and coachman, and together they mounted their horses and drove off on another road.
Unfortunately, Tian Yu hadn't run far when she heard the sound of horses' hooves outside. She lifted the curtain and asked Chen Chong, "Are the soldiers of the Wu Kingdom catching up?"
"Yes!" Chen Chong said, looking behind him as he rode his horse.
Tian Yu lowered the curtain, feeling very nervous. After doing so much, they still caught up with her. It seemed they were prepared. The sound of horses' hooves outside grew closer, and Tian Yu became increasingly anxious. However, the old man sitting upright kept his eyes closed and did not react. Chen Chong shouted loudly by the carriage, "Sir, please keep an eye on her and don't let her get off the carriage."
The old man remained motionless, his eyes still closed. By then, the carriage had stopped, and judging from the sounds, they were likely surrounded by soldiers. Tian Yu wanted to get up and get out of the carriage, but the old man with his eyes still closed said, "Sit down!" His voice was so certain and unquestionable that Tian Yu obediently sat back down.
From outside came the voice of Prince Wu, "Chen Chong, surrender! I will spare your life."
Chen Chong did not answer. Prince Wu continued, "I don't want to kill you, but if you insist on resisting, I can't protect you."
"Now that you know who I am, stop talking nonsense and get to work!" Chen Chong said.
"Good! You have guts! Take him down!"
Then came the sounds of fighting. Tian Yu couldn't sit still any longer and wanted to get out of the car several times, but the old man glanced at her each time and she obediently sat back down. Tian Yu didn't dare to look outside, feeling both scared and worried. Fortunately, Gongye Ming and the others arrived soon after, and the fighting outside intensified. Tian Yu heard Li Yong shouting, but she didn't hear Zhao Moyan's voice. Her mind was in turmoil, and she couldn't sit still. She was afraid that Chen Chong would be captured, and she was also afraid that Zhao Moyan would be hurt. She felt like she was sitting on pins and needles.
"Young Master! Be careful!" These were the words of Chen Chong's guard. Upon hearing this, Tian Yu could no longer sit still. She took out the jade pendant that Chen Chong had given her from her bosom and placed it in the old man's hand, saying, "Please give this to Chen Chong, sir."
She stood up, no longer looking at the old man, and jumped off the carriage. The scene outside was too much for Tian Yu to bear; there were sounds of fighting everywhere, and corpses lay on the ground. Tian Yu forced herself to fight back, searching for Chen Chong in the crowd. She saw him on the other side of the carriage, his arm seemingly injured, still desperately fighting. Tian Yu's gaze briefly met that of Prince Wu on horseback not far away. Prince Wu didn't seem surprised to see her; he even gave her a wicked smile. Without thinking, Tian Yu ran to Chen Chong, picked up her sword, and shielded him. Chen Chong grabbed her, shouting, "Tian Yu! Who told you to get off? Get back in the carriage! It's dangerous here!"
"No, you're injured," Tian Yu said, looking at the soldier in front of her who was holding a sword.
Li Yong was shocked to see Tian Yu and shook off his opponent, shouting, "Sister-in-law! What are you doing here?!"
"Why can't I be here? Stop fighting right now!" Tian Yu shouted.
"Watch out, everyone! Don't you dare hurt her!" Prince Wu pointed at Tian Yu and said to the soldiers.
Hearing this, the soldiers in front of Tian Yu stopped attacking. Li Yong came up to Tian Yu, pointed at Chen Chong, and said, "Sister-in-law! Move aside, he must stay today."
"I won't allow it! If you want to keep him, you'll have to kill me first," Tian Yu said angrily.
"Tian Yu, get out of the way! Go back to the car, I'm fine, I don't need your protection." Chen Chong said from behind, clutching his injured arm, blood still flowing out.
Seeing that he didn't back down and continued to point his sword at Li Yong, Tian Yu felt a little relieved when she looked around and didn't see Zhao Moyan.
"Sister-in-law, how can you do this to my brother?" Li Yong questioned.
"I don't care about anything else, I just want him to get out of here safely today," Tian Yu said loudly.
“He’s a prince from an enemy country, do you know that?” Li Yong said.
“I know! I know everything, but do you know that he saved me? He helped me when I was at my most difficult and helpless. Without him, I wouldn’t be who I am today! I don’t care who he is, I only know that he is my Brother Chen, my closest relative in this world besides Tangyuan. Even if you kill me today, I will make sure he leaves safely.” Tian Yu also said loudly.
Chen Chong, standing behind her, grasped Tian Yu's hand and urged her to leave. Tian Yu glanced back at him but continued to hold her sword, her eyes fixed firmly on Li Yong.
"Since that's the case, for my brother's sake, don't blame me for being impolite." Li Yong finished speaking and took a step back. The soldiers beside him immediately rushed forward. Tian Yu thought she was really going to kill someone, but thankfully Gongye Ming broke free from the entanglement and blocked the soldiers' attacks. Chen Chong also pulled Tian Yu behind him and continued fighting. At this moment, someone shot an arrow at Tian Yu. In her panic, Tian Yu didn't notice. Chen Chong pushed Tian Yu aside, and the arrow struck Chen Chong's left shoulder. Tian Yu snapped out of her shock and ran forward to support Chen Chong. The soldiers seized the opportunity to swarm and subdue Chen Chong, but dared not hurt Tian Yu. Tian Yu shielded Chen Chong with her body, gripped her sword tightly, and wildly swung it at the soldiers, shouting, "Get away! Get away! Don't come any closer! Don't touch him!"
"Stop!" A roar rang out. Tian Yu heard Zhao Moyan's voice and looked up in the direction of the sound. Hearing this, the soldiers stopped attacking and retreated a few steps, surrounding Tian Yu. Gongye Ming and his men also retreated to Tian Yu's side. Tian Yu watched Zhao Moyan ride towards her on horseback, and as he dismounted and walked towards her step by step, she felt guilty, yet she couldn't stand idly by and watch Chen Chong be captured. As Zhao Moyan passed Li Yong, Li Yong leaned down and whispered a few words. Tian Yu supported the injured Chen Chong, who smiled and said, "I'm fine! Don't worry about me."
