After six years in the apocalypse, Xi Xi tragically died at the hands of her aunt's family. Unexpectedly, she was reborn on the day the apocalypse began. Just as she was preparing to leverage h...
A soft but urgent knocking sounded at the window, and Xi Xi, who had been feeling a little tired, immediately sat up straight.
She was browsing the dazzling array of goods and information in the trading hall with utter boredom when she heard the sound. She quickly turned around, reached out and pressed the button to slowly lower the car window.
Xi Xi spotted Sallyman standing outside the window at a glance. Sallyman had a serious expression, her brows were slightly furrowed, and she was carrying a rather worn-out backpack.
Xi Xi got out of the car upon hearing the sound, and then Shaliman pointed to the tattered backpack in her hand and said in a low voice, "I suddenly remembered this while I was sorting through today's treasure chests."
The backpack's material was worn and turned white, with some dust on it, making it look very old and vintage.
“I found this by the roadside today. I originally thought it was just like a supply pack in the desert, so I threw it into the car. But when I opened it just now, I found that something seemed off inside…” Sallyman said with a frown.
Xi Xi looked puzzled. She had never heard of the backpack in front of her, nor had she ever seen a "supply pack" like Shaliman's.
Sallyman seemed quite surprised that Xi Xi had never seen the supply pack, and then explained it to Xi Xi.
As far as we know, there are three supply methods that are even less advanced than vending machines: supply packs, supply airdrops, and supply bags.
They are scattered randomly around the road, and while the supplies inside are limited, at least one dish of food will be found.
Supply packs are the most common item, usually found on highways. According to Salman, there are many supply packs along the roadside leading to the transit point.
Xi Xi suddenly understood. No wonder she hadn't seen it; she had traveled by water for the latter half of the desert...
Xi Xi had the privilege of witnessing a supply airdrop, though she had managed to hook it up with a fishing rod in the oasis...
As she pondered this, she glanced at the worn-out backpack in Sallyman's hand. Sallyman unzipped the backpack and emptied out its contents.
A strong, nauseating odor instantly filled the air. It smelled like the stench of something that had been rotting for a long time, pungent and unbearable.
Sallyman instinctively covered her mouth and nose with her hand, trying to block out the stench, but it didn't seem to have much effect. "Look at this... I really don't understand it."
Sallyman, suppressing her nausea, picked out a yellow piece of paper from the pile of foul-smelling items and handed it to Xi Xi.
Xi Xi, who was originally a little sleepy, was suddenly wide awake. She reached out and took the yellowed paper. Upon closer inspection, the yellowed paper was exactly the fragment of the diary she was looking for!
Sam's Diary Day 6
"Today, a father and son from the departing group suddenly returned. They cried and pounded on the train doors, begging us to let them go back."
"The faction that stayed behind naturally didn't want to accept these crazy bulls who had gone back to their old ways. They had plundered everything, and now they actually had the nerve to come back!"
“The leading Black man hated the departing group so much that he cursed them and told them to get out.”
"However, the father and son seemed to have some mental problems; they would sometimes cry, sometimes scream, sometimes curse, and say things that were incomprehensible to others."
"To be honest, there was a moment when I softened."
"I couldn't help but think of my child, my dear Pierre..."
"I leaned closer to the car window, trying to hear what they were saying, and all I heard was the bearded father shouting, 'They've all disappeared, they've all disappeared, everyone has disappeared, we're finished.'"
"The little boy cried out for his mother and screamed, 'There's a monster, a monster just like me!'"
"Nobody could understand what they were saying."
"The group of people who stayed behind quickly drove the father and son away, and everything returned to peace."
"But we don't have much food left, and the charcoal is almost gone. I don't know how many more days this 'peace' can last..."
...
Although the handwriting on the worn and yellowed fragments of the diary was blurred, Xi Xi quickly discerned the profound meaning hidden within them.
The group from the Departing Faction, like the others, stumbled into this incredibly eerie space by accident. The father and son, whether fortunate or unfortunate, witnessed the mysterious disappearance of everyone and did not venture inside.
Xi Xi's expression changed slightly. Reading the fragments of the diary was, in a sense, equivalent to entering a new instance.
She glanced at Sallyman out of the corner of her eye and saw that Sallyman was still frowning and continuing to rummage through the moldy and rotten supplies that had been poured out of her bag.
"By the way, hurry up and finish reading. After you finish, you can accept the dungeon quest." Shaliman turned her head and said to Xi Xi very sincerely.
Xi Xi was once again rendered speechless by that unreserved and sincere gaze. In comparison, she realized that she had been overthinking things...
Unfortunately, she could never go back to her innocent and carefree days... Xi Xi didn't speak, but crumpled the paper with a self-deprecating smile.
Just then, a key covered in moss and rust appeared in front of the two of them amidst the rotting supplies.
The moss on the key spreads densely across the metal surface. It has a damp sheen and shimmers with a faint green hue in the dim light.
At this moment, Chu Zhiqin, who had taken a nap, also came out. She felt as if a heavy stone was pressing on her heart. With something on her mind, she naturally couldn't sleep soundly.
The three of them stood there for a moment, examining the key. This key was different from the one Xi Xi had obtained in the game before, both in appearance and size.
