After six years in the apocalypse, Xi Xi tragically died at the hands of her aunt's family. Unexpectedly, she was reborn on the day the apocalypse began. Just as she was preparing to leverage h...
Chu Zhiqin greeted Xi Xi and then slowly walked down the path, hoping to find a quiet place to relieve herself. Just as she reached the foot of a boulder, she heard a soft whisper.
She was startled, stopped in her tracks, and listened intently. She found the voice to be both slightly familiar and completely unfamiliar.
Chu Zhiqin paused slightly, then moved quietly, her steps light. Fortunately, Xi Xi had lent her her night clothes, which made Chu Zhiqin's presence almost negligible.
Through the gaps in the rocks, Chu Zhiqin was surprised to find that the people talking were Wang Dashan and Cuihua! The two were standing together furtively, talking in hushed tones.
Wang Dashan pulled a half-eaten steamed bun from his dirty pocket. The bun looked particularly shriveled; it was not only small but also didn't look fresh.
"Stop dawdling and hurry up and eat, there's only this much left..."
"Do you think we should pack up and leave? This deserted island is just too desolate?"
"What nonsense are you talking about? There have been storms outside for days. Don't you know how our tires went flat? What are we going to do then..."
"...She's still in the cave. We need to find a way to bring her back."
"Cough cough, this steamed bun is really hard to swallow..."
Just as Wang Dashan and Cuihua were exchanging words, Wang Dashan glanced casually at the dense bushes beside him. Suddenly, he frowned, his eyes widened, and he shouted, "Who's there?"
"Who's there? Show yourself!!"
Cuihua's expression also changed. She swallowed the steamed bun in her mouth and then put her mask back on.
Wang Dashan walked cautiously towards the bushes, his face contorted with fear. He pulled out a long wooden stick from behind him, his arm muscles tense. When he was a few steps away from the bushes, he suddenly raised the stick and swung it fiercely with a gust of wind.
Wang Dashan heard a muffled "bang," and it seemed the wooden stick had missed its target.
With a loud "meow," a black and white cat darted out of the bushes and disappeared in a flash.
“…This cat?” Cuihua, who had been harboring murderous intent, froze on the spot and muttered to herself.
"That mother and daughter." Wang Dashan breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing this. He recalled seeing the cow cat in the camp earlier, with its plump hind legs, and his throat bobbed involuntarily. "Don't mess with that cat, those two don't look like they're easy to mess with."
Cuihua glared at him. Even without him saying it, she understood that anyone who could afford a pet cat at this critical juncture was no ordinary player.
"Tch, I've never eaten cat meat in my life." Cuihua muttered as she sat down again, a dark cloud suddenly settling over her eyes.
Since cats can't talk anyway, Wang Dashan and Cuihua quickly forgot about the incident.
When the couple returned, they didn't see the frightened calico cat, but instead smelled a faint fragrance in the air.
Beside it, an iron pot sat on the campfire, filled with shellfish and shrimp, bubbling and churning in the boiling water, emitting an enticing aroma.
The campfire roared, its light illuminating the surroundings and dispelling the chill of the night.
"This is..." Wang Dashan swallowed hard, looked at Xi Xi who was skillfully stirring with a spoon, and asked softly, "Little sister, where did you get these shrimp? Oh my... there's even abalone??"
"We've been fishing near this island for ages, but the fish and shrimp just won't bite because of the whirlpools around the reefs... Hey girls, how do you do it? Teach us, please! Hehe"
Xi Xi glanced at them, then broke a handful of dried noodles into bite-sized pieces. Once the seafood broth had thickened, she gently dropped them into the pot: "To make 'trap clams'."
Xi Xi naturally wouldn't tell Wang Dashan and his wife that these were leftover scraps attracted by the sonic weapon she used on a gourd flute in their RV yard when they were driving in the sea.
Yes, these are all frozen products, not fresh shrimp.
Chu Zhiqin had just found a secluded spot, released the RV, and retrieved this from it.
After eavesdropping, Chu Zhiqin hurriedly told Xi Xi what she had seen and heard—it turned out that Wang Dashan and Cuihua were both faking their accents and appearances!
The lower half of both faces appeared quite young, and they spoke standard Mandarin when conversing privately. This perfectly matches what Aura described!
Unfortunately, Xi Xi didn't have time to use the synesthetic chain ring to observe before Aura was discovered.
"Hey girl, that's not fair of you. We've been here for over a day now, and forget about fish, even the barnacles here are pitifully small! When we first arrived, we tried to find some, and we ended up wasting more food than we ate...tsk tsk tsk."
Xi Xi glanced at the bubbles at the bottom of the pot and laughed, "I'm not lying to you, it really is a trap."
A sonic trap is still a trap, it's just that we're not making one today.
Seeing that Xi Xi was vague and unwilling to reveal anything, Wang Dashan felt a little embarrassed. Cuihua tugged at him, and the two sat on the ground, seemingly lost in thought.
With the addition of noodles, the scene in the pot became even more lively. The wide noodles tumbled in the seafood broth, gradually absorbing the flavorful liquid and becoming plump and tempting.
Wang Dashan and Cuihua hadn't had a good meal in days, and smelling the aroma of abalone and noodles, their stomachs rumbled again.
They looked at each other, puzzled. They had just eaten alone, so why were they hungry again?
Finally, the noodles were cooked. Xi Xi carefully carried a pot of seafood noodle soup to a nearby stone.
