After six years in the apocalypse, Xi Xi tragically died at the hands of her aunt's family. Unexpectedly, she was reborn on the day the apocalypse began. Just as she was preparing to leverage h...
“It doesn’t matter who it is.” Cheng Xu looked at the fruits and vegetables, a hint of urgency flashing in his eyes: “The total number of cultural heritage items is definitely more than six! If we just work a little harder, we can definitely do it too!”
The Cheng family has already acquired four Sumerian cultural relics, and is only two short of completing the six-piece set to unlock the Plant Growth Enhancement.
The main warship was essentially a large-scale manufacturing plant, and before long, Xi Xi and her group reached the end. Apart from the locked doors in the warehouse, the rest of the place was rather uninteresting.
Liu Yunyan wanted to try to cut the chains on the warehouse door directly, but Sallyman stopped her.
It turns out that there was a strict hierarchy within the Clinton administration, and forcing entry without a key would trigger the alarm system.
Although Xi Xi has just taken ownership of these submarines, it is clear that he has not yet fully figured out the connections between all the devices. If he were to trigger any self-destruct device, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Sallyman surmised that the key was most likely hidden in one of the other four submarines, perhaps in a high-rise residential area. In her recollection, only those few white men had free access to the warehouse.
So, the group followed the teleportation array set up by Liu Yunyan and moved to several other submarines to search one by one.
In fact, Xi Xi thought that she might be able to use the "universal key" generated by her magic pen to unlock it, but she didn't want to expose herself too much at this critical juncture, so she followed the others and stepped into the next submarine.
The four smaller boats were indeed much smaller than the main vessel. Although their exteriors didn't reveal anything, the interior of one of the submarines was clearly quite different from the other three.
"Sister, this level of protection... is even higher than the secondary cargo hold of the main ship." Cheng Xu's voice carried a hint of disbelief.
Xi Xi stared intently at the closed door. "The people living inside must be of different statuses." Fortunately, the submarine's security system was designed to recognize individuals by their facial features, and it immediately gave Xi Xi a green light.
With a soft "click," the dark silver hatch slid open silently inward.
A warm breeze carrying the fresh scent of pine from the forest wafted in, and the sight inside the cabin made everyone hold their breath.
Underfoot was a thick, soft wool carpet that made no sound when you stepped on it.
The walls on both sides of the passageway are made of a kind of dark, precious wood, with fine texture, a warm luster, and a faint woody aroma.
Bright light sources are hidden in the recesses of the ceiling, illuminating the entire space evenly without any sense of shadow or crampedness. Xi Xi recognized that this was thanks to the vehicle lighting components.
Several small hatches are located on both sides of the passage, each of them exquisitely designed with handles that gleam with a pure gold luster.
The gap between the rich and the poor is too big... Xi Xi couldn't help but think.
In contrast, the other three small submarines were like dormitories for low-income laborers, and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to call them abandoned capsule hotels.
As a low-ranking member, Shaliman was not qualified and had never been here before. She leaned out and pushed open the nearest door, only to find that it was a reading room.
One wall is a huge, built-in bookshelf, filled with beautifully bound hardcover books with gilded spines. In the center sits a large, comfortable leather sofa and a beautifully curved solid wood desk with a smooth, mirror-like surface.
There was even a small electronic fireplace in the corner, with virtual flames leaping and radiating a warm glow.
Behind the next door is the bartending room. A floor-to-ceiling temperature-controlled wine cabinet occupies an entire wall, neatly displaying a variety of alcoholic beverages.
Xi Xi's gaze did not linger on the wine bottle for long. She moved silently and swiftly through the luxurious passageway, meticulously examining every corner.
Armory? None. Core data? Aside from a few innocuous books for entertainment and a few obscene picture books, there is none.
Nothing to show for it. This place is just a playground...
"This way!" Liu Enxi's voice came from the end of the passage, carrying a hint of tension that was barely perceptible.
The group quickly followed, and the passage suddenly opened up at the end.
A massive, almost luxurious cabin unfolded before us. Most astonishing was the miniature, temperature-controlled swimming pool in the center!
The clear blue water ripples with dreamy light under the soft illumination, and the bottom of the pool is covered with pure white sand and colorful mosaic patterns.
Several large white lounge chairs surrounded the pool, and on the small table next to them were even half-empty wine glasses garnished with mint leaves and several open books, as if the owner had just left.
"It seems that Team W didn't fare so badly under Clinton," Xi Xi analyzed.
Meanwhile, Sallyman looked puzzled. In her mind, Team W didn't seem like a team that lived such a luxurious life, no matter how you looked at it.
Many people at the bottom of society, like her, are grateful to have food to eat.
"Isn't this obvious?" Liu Yunyan pushed open the bedroom area next to the pool, where an enormous round bed occupied the center, covered with snow-white down comforters: "This is embezzlement! They're fleecing the people!"
An atmosphere of extreme extravagance permeated the air silently, and every inch of space seemed to scream out two words: privilege.
Liu Enxi's face was extremely gloomy, and her chest heaved violently with anger.
Just now, in one of the most dilapidated submarine-style guesthouses, even the towels on the shelves were moldy, not to mention the bunk beds with their metal frames, which were so cramped that it would be difficult to even turn over in bed...
The first three submarines were essentially identical in structure. Each submarine was crammed with at least a hundred or so people. The communal restrooms were in a terrible state, with only four seats, far from meeting the needs of so many people.
Not to mention any recreational facilities, even the passageway is only wide enough for one person to pass sideways.
Liu Yunyan also found many empty boxes of cheap medicine for treating diarrhea and skin infections under the beds in those large communal rooms, as well as a few scattered notes written in different languages, such as 'go home' or 'mom'... most of them were in languages from various parts of Asia.
The contrast is so stark it's almost suffocating.
The air seemed to freeze, leaving only the gentle gurgling of the circulating water in the luxurious swimming pool.
Cheng Xu squatted by the pool, his fingertips carefully tracing the smooth, cold surface of the white lounge chair.
His brows furrowed, his sharp eyes scanning his surroundings, scraping inch by inch over the luxurious wooden panels of the cabin walls, the hidden light strips on the ceiling, and the thick carpet under his feet.
Finally, his gaze settled on the huge round bed in the adjacent bedroom area.
The carpet there looked as if it had been pressed down by a heavy object; the dents were subtle, but they stood out starkly against the intact surrounding carpet.
“Sister,” Cheng Xu’s voice was low and short, “look to your right, under the carpet.”
