Family, let me tell you something: I transmigrated, but it feels like I didn't fully! Except for this 21st-century brain, I brought nothing else over!
Other people transmigrate and either...
"Is that the spaceship Catherine was on?"
Catherine's father looked at the spaceship in the distance with some curiosity.
"That should be it. The sentry spotted Lady Catherine using hand gestures to confirm her identity from above the spaceship!"
The scholar replied.
"Did they come to pick you up?"
As Joey watched from the cockpit, seeing the dense array of airships and warships approaching his spaceship, he couldn't help but feel a little nervous and asked Catherine for confirmation.
"Yes, they've come to pick me up!"
Jocelyn said with a smile, her eyes fixed on the airship in front of her, never looking away.
"Isn't this a bit too exaggerated? Kids from rich families are really different!"
Joey was also shocked by this grand spectacle. His own peak performance was not even half of what others were born with; the gap was truly enormous.
(I don't know if my father-in-law will accept a son-in-law who lives with his wife's family; I really don't want to try anymore!)
Under Joey's control, the spaceship moved forward and stopped when it was less than 100 meters away from the airships of Grayfurnace City. The airships also stopped in unison.
The hatch opened again, and everyone on the spaceship, including WaWa and XiaoHei, was lifted out of the spaceship.
“Catherine!”
Although they were still far apart, the city lord's voice calling for Catherine was still clearly audible. Perhaps this was the power of fatherly love. After not seeing her for so long, this unfortunate child, Catherine, was able to return safely tonight. This father must be overjoyed!
"Father!"
Catherine responded happily, waving her right hand incessantly.
The two drew closer and closer until the airship carrying Catherine's father finally came to rest at the edge of the spaceship.
He strode forward in one step, and Catherine rushed forward and bumped into his arms.
"Father!"
"Alright, alright, it's all over now. It's good that you're back!"
Catherine's father tried to comfort her, but her tears were already streaming down her face.
“Dairns and I got separated, Puff and Eileen were in danger while covering me, and... and many others died…”
As Catherine spoke, her voice choked with emotion, making it impossible for her to continue.
His father looked at Catherine, never expecting his daughter's personality to change so drastically. In the past, Catherine might not have shed a tear for anyone who protected her, much less care about an ordinary soldier who had survived.
"Daines is alright, at least for now!"
"Puff and Irene are both doing well!"
The city lord stroked Catherine's head and whispered in her ear.
"Really?"
Catherine lifted her head from her chest and looked intently at her father, her eyes still wet with tears.
"Lady Catherine!"
Before her father could answer, two voices came from behind her.
One figure was very tall and wore heavy armor; the other figure appeared very slender and carried a longbow on his back.
"Puff!"
"Eileen!"
Catherine wriggled out of her father's arms and ran toward the people behind her.
The city lord simply looked at Catherine's retreating figure with a doting expression and did not call out to her.
He turned to look at Joey, who had been standing next to Catherine, his eyes filled with wariness.
(What's wrong with my future father-in-law? Why do I feel like he's hostile towards me? It seems the saying that a daughter is her father's warm cotton-padded jacket is really true.)
Joey forced a smile, trying to make a good impression on her future father-in-law, but Catherine's father's gaze remained unchanged.
Joey could only smile awkwardly and look up at the white clouds in the sky.
"Lady Catherine!"
Catherine approached the two men, and they both knelt down on one knee to bow to her.
Catherine, who was in a hurry, stopped and looked at the two people in front of her with gratitude.
"Get up. You all really had a tough time back in Tiger Stone Mountain!"
The two kneeling men were surprised by Catherine's words. They exchanged a glance before looking up at her.
"It's all we should do, but we're guilty for causing Lady Catherine so much hardship and displacement!"
Their faces were full of self-blame; it seemed they hadn't been doing well lately.
"You've done your best, I understand!"
Catherine did not blame them at all.
"Oh my, our little Catherine has really grown up!"
An aged voice came from behind the two of them.
Catherine turned her head to look behind them, and saw an old man in a robe, holding a staff, slowly walking towards her.
"Melder!"
Catherine nodded to Puff and Eileen, then ran towards Archmage Meld.
"Meld, why were you so late last time? I was being bullied by the orcs!"
Catherine pouted, looking at Archmage Melder with a reproachful gaze.
"You think the last attack was a spur-of-the-moment thing by the tribe? They planned it all along, delaying me for several days. By the time I got there, it was indeed a bit late!"
"But I've already avenged you. My fireball spell is still quite powerful!"
Melder patiently explained to Catherine.
"I don't care, all I know is that you're late!"
As she spoke, Catherine rushed up to Meld, reached out and grabbed one of his graying beards, and yanked it hard.
Ouch!
