Chapter 70 Acting Captain, Sergeant Joey Brown

The two days passed quickly.

However, Xiao Hei has been staying in Vivian's room for the past two days, which makes Joey a little sad.

Knock knock knock!

The next day, after lunch, there was a knock on Joey's door.

Who is it?

Joey was just about to take a nap when the knocking interrupted her, which annoyed her.

He could tell from the knocking that it wasn't the bearded man outside, nor was it Vivian.

Of course, it couldn't possibly be that little black cat.

Joey slowly moved behind the door and gently opened it.

"Mr. Joey, are you alright?"

Sergeant Medes was standing outside the door, with Uriel standing next to him, holding two sets of armor in his hands.

But Uriel didn't look well.

"Just got back?"

Qiao Yiyi stood at the door, her right hand resting on the doorframe, and casually asked.

"I got back before noon and even made it in time for lunch at the base!"

Sergeant Medes said with a smile, it seemed that he had become quite familiar with Joey after they had avenged Goodman together.

"Have you met Commander Zoro?"

"Yes, I reported the situation to Captain Zoro first before coming to see you!"

"I've told him everything that happened in Gold Rush Town, and he's very satisfied with your performance!"

"That's good. Did he say anything else?"

Joey glanced at the armor Uriel was holding and already guessed what it was, but still wanted to confirm with Medes.

"The regimental commander has agreed to the two military service slots you mentioned. In view of your heroic performance in Gold Rush Town, you are now a sergeant and assigned to the 001 squad of the 3rd Company!"

"I have already handed over Goodman's remains to Captain Zoro, but he asked me to tell you about the Gold Rush incident: do not mention it to anyone else!"

Medes' voice was noticeably lower when he said the last sentence.

"No problem, I'm very tight-lipped, tighter than super glue!"

Joey patted his chest and made a solemn promise.

"Is today the day I officially join the Second Knights of Saipan?"

Joey's eyebrows twitched, creating a comical effect; he looked completely unserious.

"Job onboarding?"

I guess so!

Medes didn't quite understand the new words Joey was using, but to cover up his ignorance, he didn't ask any further questions.

But as soon as he finished speaking, Joey pulled his head close.

"What's wrong with Uriel? He looks like his father just died?"

Joey noticed something was off with Uriel from the beginning, but he didn't have a chance to ask.

"My biological father is still alive, but my biological brother is dead!"

Medes' expression also turned serious.

"His older brother? Isn't his older brother Uel? Didn't he just have a good time with us in Gold Rush Town?"

Joey still remembered Uel; he was a good soldier with strong execution skills.

"On our way back, we encountered a group of kobolds. Even though we chose the main road, we still ran into them!"

"They outnumbered us, there were seventy or eighty of them. We were outnumbered and had to fight and retreat. In the end, Uel was killed in battle!"

"Seventy or eighty of them, it's really tough on you two fists against four hands!"

Joey thought they were quite impressive for escaping after being attacked by seventy or eighty kobolds with only one person lost.

Suddenly, a pang of self-reproach welled up in Joey's heart. Could it be that the bearded man and she were about to join this "new company" that caused their deaths?

Make room for them!

There are so few good people like this who are willing to sacrifice themselves for others!

Joey felt a surge of emotion and suddenly turned to look at Uriel.

"Private Uriel, do you want revenge for your brother? Goodman's revenge has been taken, but yours can't be left unfulfilled!"

"We, the members of Squad 001, will not let anyone who harmed our brothers get away with it!"

Joey spoke softly, but every word struck Uriel's heart.

Uriel brought over Joey and the bearded man's armor, his eyes resolute as he replied, "I want revenge for my brother! I'm going to kill all those kobolds!"

Joey walked over to him, took the armor, and they started putting it on right there.

Because he wasn't quite familiar with how to wear the armor, Joey's movements were rather clumsy.

Fortunately, Medes and Uriel noticed Joey's predicament and took turns personally helping him put on his armor.

"By the way, there are a lot of these kobolds. The seven of us probably won't be enough. Can we borrow some more from Captain Zoro?"

Joey looked down at the suit of armor he was wearing, and to be honest, it fit him quite well.

But he still had his own concerns about the kobolds.

"Commander Zoro, that's no problem. I actually told him before we came, and he agreed that we could bring over the men from the Third Company!"

The entire Third Company?

This made Joey extremely happy. There were over a hundred people there, and it seemed that he was doing quite well, able to command so many people.

"Commander Zoro also explained that Goodman was originally the acting company captain. Because of his death, the position of acting company commander of the Third Company became vacant, so you were temporarily appointed to the post!"

Sergeant Medes' words shocked Joey. He had not only been given a government job and a government salary, but he was now considered a minor official.

It seems that my working life in another world has brought about a major turning point in my life!

"In that case, you go and gather the men for me, and I'll go say goodbye to Captain Zoro and thank him for his high regard for me!"
