Chapter 100
Toto hid behind the curtains.
I don't know why I hid it; it was just something I did instinctively. I touched my cheek; there shouldn't be any tears. I just sat there dejectedly, and my expression must have been terrible.
So I don't want to be seen.
He didn't really think it was a big deal; it wasn't unbelievable that Lin Mi didn't like him.
Class, privilege, rank.
A huge and exaggerated net, a hopeless yet solid tower.
Here, the birth of every Zerg is predetermined by fate: what kind of identity they have, what level they are suited for, and what kind of love they will receive based on their level.
Here, poverty is a deficiency, and so is being low-class.
Above the green medal is the silver medal, and above the silver medal is the gold medal. With each level above the silver medal, ordinary insects are left with only the virtue of humility.
The poor are valued for their discernment and self-awareness.
Having power and wealth suddenly makes even things like deceiving others' feelings seem natural and beautifiable.
When told to give up on marriage and simply live out one's short life, she didn't react immediately and even thought it was reasonable. Only when she truly came to her senses did she find it laughable and disappointing, sitting there feeling lost and dejected.
Why do people think that qualities like perseverance, self-discipline, courage, and honesty, along with a smooth, successful, and praiseworthy life, are the privileges of the privileged class?
I was about to fall into that state of mind.
I sensed the child running across the grassland, chasing wild bees and butterflies, disappearing into a faint, indistinct shadow.
Only he, now an adult, stands in the blank space of memories.
Toto felt sad, but more than that, he felt relieved.
He wanted to tell the commander, "I'm sorry, I may not be able to accept the feelings of a strange Zerg."
He felt that he would probably become like a professor in the future.
The professor dedicated his entire life to scientific research; he loved and cared for no one else.
And Toto still has the Commander. Of course, if the Commander is no longer here, there will probably be other things to hold onto. Life doesn't stand still. Toto can't hold onto anything. He willingly sends them off, even if his journey alone might feel a little lonely. But that's alright. Toto sincerely hopes that the Zerg he loves can live well without him.
Toto walked to the door and stood in front of it.
The Commander should be outside the door right now. Toto lowered his eyes, his hand gently on the doorknob, but he didn't open the door.
Fei, who was just a door away, paused slightly when he reached the apartment door, locking it several times before slowly pulling it back.
He turned around and lit a cigarette.
The smoke obscured their features, like a light, misty rain.
A moment later, he suddenly turned around.
The tightly closed door suddenly opened from the inside, and the male insect, wearing a gray pinstripe pajama, abruptly met Fei's gaze.
Warm air wafted out of the room, a familiar voice rang in my ears, and the cigarette between my fingers, with its lingering blue smoke like threads, slowly drew my gaze forward.
The light illuminated his face; the female soldier's features were refined and aloof, her curled eyelashes resembling a butterfly perched on her eyelids.
Toto suddenly realized that he missed him more than he had imagined, but he didn't show it. He quietly tightened his grip on the doorknob.
"Commander... Your Excellency..."
Fei was surprised for a moment, then smiled slightly and nodded, joking in a natural tone, "Since you've come uninvited, will I still have dinner?"
Toto gave a short laugh and opened the door: "Yes."
Fei breathed a sigh of relief and entered the house with a normal expression. When he looked down, he saw a pair of brand-new slippers, the same style as when he used to live here.
Fei was slightly taken aback.
When he left, he actually took everything with him; Fei didn't want to leave himself an excuse to bother Toregia.
He glanced at Toto, then put on his shoes with a slightly somber expression.
Toto didn't see it. Afraid that Fei would sense his bad mood, he changed the subject, saying, "Uncle Merck made a delicious dinner today. You've come at just the right time. By the way, would you like some wine?"
Fei followed behind Toto. He saw the cup that had been taken with him when he moved, which was placed in the corner. Another identical cup appeared. He saw the newspaper that had not been turned in the living room, with glasses next to it.
Fei stopped and watched silently for a while, while Toto seemed unaware of Yu Xi's unusual behavior, keeping his back to him the whole time.
Fei asked softly, "How are you, Toregia?"
Toto paused, then turned around a moment later, his face bearing the same calm smile as Fei's: "I'm fine."
Is it good?
Maybe so.
I can't explain it, I just don't want him to worry.
Thinking this, Toto was suddenly pulled into someone's arms. He was startled, but he did not struggle.
He instinctively hugged Fei. After becoming an adult, he rarely hugged Fei anymore. It seemed different from before. It was no longer out of respect or gratitude, but so unfamiliar that he couldn't adapt. However, he didn't want to push her away.
Their breaths mingled.
I don't know who looked into the other's eyes first.
Fei looked at him, seemingly wanting to say a lot, but he said nothing. He slowly lowered his head and gently kissed Toregia's lips.
