Chapter 173 Lightsaber and the Force

The Lord's power was undeniable. Chang Wei still remembered the time he was nearly strangled to death by his Force choke. Therefore, during the six months of guerrilla warfare, Chang Wei had formed a research team with scientists such as Steadman to analyze and study lightsabers and the Force.

The conclusion was that the lightsaber wasn't a laser, but rather a plasma emanating from Kyber crystals. It used condensed energy beam technology, with its interior primarily consisting of a Diatsu battery, an energy field conductor, an energy vortex ring, and two Kyber crystals.

The larger crystal is the main crystal, used to convert energy from the battery. The smaller one is the focusing crystal, which focuses and transmits this energy to the emitter. The color of a lightsaber is typically the same as the color of the focusing crystal. Finally, the arc is ejected from the nozzle through a magnetic field confinement channel, resulting in the energized lightsaber we see.

It's important to note that when a lightsaber releases energy, it exits through the positive energy outlet and then flows back through the negative energy outlet. Combined with a superconductor, this energy can be converted back into the battery, eliminating any consumption or waste. This way, the lightsaber only loses a tiny bit of energy when the blade cuts through an object. When the blade isn't in contact, it consumes no energy and generates no heat.

In subsequent tests, although the lightsaber would short-circuit when it came into contact with water, if it was waterproofed, it could also be used in any harsh environment, such as underwater, or for lighting in dimly lit places.

For a Jedi, a lightsaber is not just a weapon, but also a way to focus on and master the Force.

Lightsabers play a variety of roles in combat. Offensively, an activated lightsaber can slice through nearly anything, from soldier armor to blast doors. Only specialized materials or energy weapons, such as another lightsaber, a stave, a Z6 riot baton, or Mandalorian iron, can withstand a lightsaber's attack. Defensively, the user can use the blade to deflect incoming blaster energy, and in highly trained hands, even return it back to the enemy.

For those who follow the Jedi way, crafting a lightsaber is a ritual. The first step is to find the right kyber crystal. As the core component of a lightsaber, this crystal is composed of a mixture of organic and inorganic materials, has a unique reaction to the Force, and can withstand high temperatures and pressures. Although extremely rare, it can be found in Jedi holy places or trial planets.

In Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 5, Episode 6, Jedi apprentices must journey to the Illum Ice Caves to find their kyber crystals before they can learn how to forge their own lightsabers. There are thousands of crystals in the caves, and each crystal has its own "consciousness," so the apprentices must follow the guidance of the Force and find the crystal that matches them.

Those crystals that are unmatched become icy cold, while those that are matched begin to "sing" to their worthy recipients and transform into color. This is the origin of the myriad colors of Kyber crystals. Some say that the color of a Kyber crystal reflects the inner qualities of its worthy recipient, and there's some truth to this.

For example: the green lightsaber symbolizes the idea of holding the sword for peace rather than war.

The blue lightsaber represents the firm determination to fight for justice and freedom.

The yellow lightsaber represents a neutral and impartial attitude. And so on and so forth................

Because kyber crystals typically favor the Light Side of the Force and repel the Dark Side, wielders like Sith and Fallen Jedi often use the Dark Force to "bend" the crystals, turning the blade a bright red. The bent crystals can be purified through special methods, resulting in a white blade, as Ahsoka did.

After reading these reports, Chang Wei had an idea. If a lightsaber were made large enough, could it be used as a ship-slashing blade to slice through warships? Or perhaps even deflect the massive laser beams of heavy turbolasers and star destroyers?

After all, such feats are often seen in the Gundam anime series, especially the Quantum 00 Gundam, which even used burst mode to cut through the ELS satellite.

Perhaps...letting those Jedi Knights pilot fighter planes is a waste of their talents. Gundams wielding lightsabers should be their vehicles! If those Jedi Masters had piloted Gundams wielding lightsabers when Order 66 was issued, who would have been the winner?

Therefore, Chang Wei has since given Swan a special instruction, asking him to scale it up proportionally according to the lightsaber technology, and then make it a standard feature of the Gundam equipped with the GN Solar Furnace.

After talking about lightsabers, let’s talk about the Force.

Analysis by Steadman and his research team has confirmed that the Force is indeed another form of psionic or psychic energy. However, unlike direct absorption of orthodox psionic or psychic energy, the Force is first absorbed by microorganisms called midi-chlorians, where it is refined and transformed into a special power. These midi-chlorians are ubiquitous, permeating nearly every corner of the universe and all life, as if they were the law of cosmic life.

In other words, when midi-chlorians absorb psionic energy, they produce the light side of the Force. When midi-chlorians absorb psychic energy, they produce the dark side of the Force. Generally speaking, these two forces repel each other, like natural enemies. However, research has revealed that this isn't entirely true. By pairing the light and dark side forces in equal amounts, a near-perfect model of natural operation can be formed.
