Chapter 269 A powerful enemy appears, the Necrons!

When Chang Wei saw the appearance of those buildings clearly, he instantly recognized their identities?

"It's the Necrons? I didn't expect there were Necrons' tombs here. Were they... woken up by my big movements?"

The Necrons are a powerful race with a strict hierarchy and a dynasty.

Simply put, they are a race of mechanically ascended beings, transformed into mechanical bodies, a species of extreme materialism. Their history is incredibly ancient, predating the Eldar and Greenskins. They possess unparalleled technology, allowing them to remain dormant in stasis tombs for tens of millions of years.

The Necrons, the forerunners of the Necrontyr, emerged billions of years before humanity. The intense cosmic rays emitted by their home star made them a short-lived and gloomy race. Their precarious lives threatened death at any moment, and the living were considered mere travelers, hurriedly passing through their ancestors' graves.

Therefore, they built huge tombs to warn and house themselves, and almost every necrophile dedicated his or her short life to scientific research, hoping to find a way to prolong his or her life.

Although they ultimately failed, they were not completely unsuccessful. The potential brought about by the fear of death allowed their technological level to advance by leaps and bounds.

Using this technology, the Necrontyr began to expand and explore, seeking a way to survive. They entered the stasis chambers of Torch starships, slowly but relentlessly colonizing distant stars until they controlled most of the galaxy.

As the territory continued to expand, many nobles established dynasties, civil wars broke out, and eventually led to the division of their race.

The Triarch of the Necrontyr realized that only a foreign enemy could unite the Necrontyr. The Old Ones, the most ancient and powerful intelligent beings in the galaxy at the time, and their near-immortal lifespans, instilled envy in the Necrontyr. Thus, the Triarch declared war on the Old Ones, ending the Civil War and heralding the beginning of the War in Heaven.

The War in Heaven was the largest and bloodiest war in the galaxy's history. Hundreds of generations of Necrontyr had fought through it, and the consequences were clear. The Necrontyr were no match for the technologically advanced Old Ones and their mastery of the Webway. In the face of defeat, the Necrontyr's unity was once again shattered.

In desperation, the Triarch Council found the Star Gods. The Star Gods were called "Katan" in the language of the Necrontyr. They were the first intelligent beings born from the stars at the beginning of the world.

The Star Gods used living metal to forge a body for the Necrontyr. Among them, the Star God named "The Deceiver" met with Saleh, the "Silent King", the head of the Triarchal Council, and promised to help him defeat the Ancients and give the Necrontyr eternal life.

Faced with such tempting conditions, the necrophiles naturally couldn't help but be happy.

Afterwards, the few cautious opinions were overwhelmed by the majority of eager desires, and the Triarchal Council quickly reached an alliance with the Star Gods, and the Necrontyr race was doomed from then on.

According to the life transfer method given by the C'tan, the Necrontyr would abandon their fragile flesh and transform into living metal forms resembling skeletons. When Saleh, the "Silent King", witnessed the C'tan feasting on the life energy stripped from his people, he finally realized his mistake.

Though unified and immortal, they had lost their souls forever. The Necrontyr were no more, now nothing more than a cursed mechanical race – the Necrons were born.

The alliance between the C'tan and the Necrons sealed the Old Ones' downfall.

Under the might of the super-beings, the C'tan, the universe was ravaged, the stars were annihilated, and the sun and moon lost their light. Meanwhile, the Necrons, having pierced the Webway, were able to assault the Old Ones across the galaxy. They laid siege to their strongest fortresses, overcoming their magic and technology, and forcing them to cultivate numerous races, including the Eldar and Orks, to aid them in their struggle. However, the Old Ones were ultimately destroyed by the evils of the Warp they had unwittingly unleashed.

In the final stage of the War in Heaven, Salekh the Silent King waited patiently for his opportunity. When the Old Ones perished and the C'tan were exhausted, he led the Necrons in rebellion and stabbed the C'tan in the back.

The Necrons focused the unimaginable energy of the material universe into technological weapons, then launched a surprise attack! Even the super-life forms of the C'tan could not withstand such power. However, due to their unique characteristics, the C'tan cannot be completely destroyed. Therefore, each fragment of their shattered form was imprisoned by the Necrons in a four-dimensional maze.

The defeat of the Old Ones and the C'tan had cost the Necrons a great price, leaving them powerless to fight the Eldar who had survived the War in Heaven. At the same time, the Silent King knew that the Necrons' era was over for now, so he decided to lie low and wait for the Eldar's decline.

So, it ordered that all the remaining colonial dynasties in the galaxy be transformed into giant tomb complexes consisting of stasis chambers, and ordered the Necrons to wake up after 60 million years of sleep to rebuild everything that was lost and restore the dynasties to their former glory.

For sixty million years, the Necrons have slept in their tombs, remaining silent even when the surface of the planet above them was colonized by other species.

As time passed, more and more Tomb Worlds malfunctioned or met their doom, while others were destroyed by the vengeful Eldar. This led to the destruction of countless Necrons!

Moreover, the resurrection period of each Tomb World is not consistent. Some witnessed the Great Crusade of the Empire, some awakened in the Age of Apostasy, but there are still billions of Necrons who remain dormant. Unless some special conditions or defense mechanisms are triggered, they will awaken early!

Obviously, the "Black Forest Strike" launched by the Light Chaser Fleet before was one of the conditions that triggered this awakening!

Looking at the crescent-shaped warships slowly rising from the underground tombs, Chang Wei knew that they were about to face a major battle.

Because, according to his understanding, the technological level of the Necrons should be similar to that of the Protoss in "StarCraft".

Both had experienced both glory and decline, and their overall strength was not much different. Even if they were still in a weak period, a lean camel was still bigger than a horse! Others had at least battled against ancient saints and star gods, their strength was evident. At the very least, they had mastered mature dimensional and warping technology, and were by no means easily defeated with current technology!

Chang Wei sat in the command chair, took a deep breath, and then ordered the entire army: "Activate the first-level alarm! The entire army enters a state of high alert and defense! Memory of Nessin, activate the invisible force field to cover our whereabouts, and the entire army maintains silence!"
