Qin Luo traveled to a world of cultivation where demons ran rampant. To protect himself, he came to the Dragon and Tiger Monastery to learn from a master, only to find out that his master was a swi...
A slender fishing boat sailed into the deep sea.
An elderly man wearing a straw hat sat on the boat tidying up the fishing nets, a middle-aged man with bare chests controlled the sails, and a dark-skinned boy was cutting fish bait at the stern.
The shirtless middle-aged man said loudly, "Dad, our voyage this time went very smoothly, faster than the other ships."
The old man wearing a straw hat said in a deep voice, "You can't be careless when you go out to sea; you must always be vigilant."
"Um."
The shirtless middle-aged man nodded.
The boy at the stern grinned, revealing his white teeth, and asked, "Grandpa, I've heard that there are fairy mountains at sea where immortals live, who can grant all the wishes of mortals."
"hehe."
The shirtless middle-aged man couldn't help but chuckle.
The old man wearing a straw hat chuckled and said, "Child, all of this is a lie. If you want something for nothing, you will pay a heavy price sooner or later, sometimes your life."
The shirtless middle-aged man laughed and said, "Your grandfather is right. Only through hard work can we achieve a comfortable life."
"I see!"
The boy nodded emphatically, still somewhat puzzled. "Grandpa, are there really any fairy mountains in the sea?"
The old man wearing a straw hat looked out at the boundless East China Sea and said solemnly, "The East China Sea not only has sacred mountains, but also ghost cities. Fishermen are often tricked into going there and being eaten."
"hiss!"
The boy gasped.
Qin Luo stood at the bow of the boat listening to their conversation.
The boy was at an age of innocent wonder, full of curiosity about the world. "Grandpa, what's that place on the other side of the sea?"
"have no idea."
"I really want to go see what's on the other side of the sea."
"Let's talk about it when you're older."
"Hahaha."
The old man wearing a straw hat did not tell the boy that, in fact, many cultivators were unable to cross the East Sea.
The fishing boats arrived at an area where the fish were active, and Qin Luo watched them fish; it was hard work.
The three of them, grandfather, grandfather, and grandson, didn't sit down to rest on the boat until noon. The middle-aged man, shirtless, took out a flatbread, divided it in half, and handed one half to the old man wearing a straw hat. "Father, please eat something to fill your stomach."
The shirtless middle-aged man divided the remaining dough in half and handed one half to the boy.
The boy took the pancake and ate it in big bites.
The old man wearing a straw hat divided the flatbread in his hand in half, handing half to the boy and saying with a kind smile, "Xiao Hao, Grandpa can't finish it, can you help Grandpa eat some?"
"Grandpa, you should give it to Dad."
The boy shook his head vigorously.
The old man wearing a straw hat handed the flatbread to the shirtless middle-aged man, who then handed it to the boy, saying with a serious expression, "Eat more so you'll have the strength to work later."
"knew."
The boy smiled and accepted the flatbread.
Qin Luo smiled; although they worked hard, they were happier than many other families.
Afternoon.
The sea was calm and still.
The old man wearing a straw hat frowned. "It's really strange, there's not a ripple at all."
"Father, isn't this a good thing?"
"Something unusual must be going on."
"Perhaps the Dragon King is protecting us."
"I hope so."
After patiently waiting for an hour, the shirtless middle-aged man began to pull in the net. When the net surfaced, it was covered with many large fish.
The boy exclaimed excitedly, "Dad, what a big fish!"
The fishing net was full of big fish. The middle-aged man, shirtless, was pulling the net with all his might, not feeling tired at all. Even the usually calm old man showed a joyful smile.
"It seems it really is a blessing from the Dragon King!"
The old man knelt on the boat and kowtowed towards the sea.
Looking at the joyful smiles on their faces, Qin Luo said, "Living has meaning, whether it's happiness or suffering."
The fishing boat's hold was filled with large fish, and the old man wearing a straw hat shouted, "Thank you for the Dragon King's gift!"
"Thank you for the Dragon King's gift!"
The shirtless middle-aged man pulled up the sail with all his might. A sea breeze surged in, and the fishing boat sped toward the sea. Qin Luo watched the fishing boat disappear into the distance.
Qin Luo turned and walked towards the depths of the East China Sea.
In the evening.
The afterglow of the setting sun spilled onto the sea.
The shimmering sea surface resembled golden fish scales.
Qin Luo walked a long distance in the sea. He saw a long island in the distance, but upon closer inspection, he discovered that it was a huge tree floating in the sea.
"A piece of driftwood bigger than an island!"
Qin Luo was somewhat surprised.
When he arrived near the floating island.
A bright, clear moon hangs over the sea.
The stars were reflected in the sea, and Qin Luo walked on the starlit sea, as if he were in a sea of stars, like a dream.
Qin Luo arrived at the floating island in the sea. On the island was a gloomy ancient city, and many evil spirits roamed outside the city. "This should be the ghost city that the old fisherman was talking about."
Ghosts and spirits can be seen everywhere.
As Qin Luo approached the ancient city, the surrounding evil spirits dispersed, and a cacophony of sounds filled the city—crying, laughing, wailing, and beautiful singing.
"Is this a ghost market?"
Qin Luo had heard Chu Peiran talk about the Ghost Market.
The ancient city is home to all sorts of bizarre creatures: an eight-legged octopus head, a demon with black horns, a seductive snake woman, and skeletons chatting in the streets.
Would you like a drink?
The octopus monster runs a restaurant. He holds a glass of wine in one of his tentacles and hands it to Qin Luo, who has just arrived in the city.
Qin Luo waved his hand, "I don't drink."
That's such a shame.
The octopus monster withdrew its hand.
The ram-headed man in a Taoist robe sat at the table, stroking his beard, and said, "Fellow Taoist, I see a very bad omen for you."
"you're right."
Qin Luo nodded with a smile.
