Chapter 68 The Imperial Advisor's Test

Deep within the Longhu Temple.

Zhang Fulong, on his deathbed, was startled awake.

During this time, he was bedridden and barely survived on the wild vegetable dumplings that Qin Luo brought back.

Jin Yan was sitting cross-legged in the backyard. He opened his eyes when he heard the noise and saw Zhang Fulong passing by. "Master."

What happened to you?

"Go to the outhouse."

Zhang Fulong clutched his stomach.

Jin Yan watched Zhang Fulong walk away and murmured softly, "It's been so long since I've seen Master go to comprehend the Dao."

Zhang Fulong forced himself to walk to the main hall of the Taoist temple. He drank a bowl of ginger soup, which warmed him up immediately. Then he picked up the offering fruit and eggs on the offering table and began to wolf them down.

...

Market at the foot of the mountain.

Qin Luo looked at the old monk.

"Seniors, where do you come from?"

"Lingshan".

Hua Ying's beautiful eyes narrowed slightly.

Qin Luo had heard of Mount Ling and smiled, "Senior, how far is Mount Ling from here?"

"As long as you are sincere, Mount Ling is right at your feet."

The old monk smiled with his eyes narrowed.

Ziyue buried her head in eating mutton, Qin Luo continued drinking mutton soup, Hua Ying didn't like mutton soup, she took two sips of mutton soup, ate a piece of mutton, and then put down her chopsticks.

After finishing his mutton soup, the old monk looked at Hua Ying and asked, "Female benefactor, if you're not going to eat it, could you give some to this humble monk?"

Hua Ying ignored the old monk, pushed the bowl towards Qin Luo, and smiled faintly, "Qin Luo, here you go."

The old monk shook his head and sighed softly.

Qin Luo had just finished his bowl of mutton soup when he saw Hua Ying push the bowl of mutton soup towards him. He then looked at Zi Yue and asked with a smile, "Junior Sister, would you like some for Senior?"

"Senior brother, I'm not full yet."

Ziyue muttered to herself that if the old monk hadn't said she wasn't smart, she would definitely have given it to him.

It's his fault for talking bad about me.

Qin Luo pushed the mutton soup in front of Zi Yue.

Hua Ying stared at Qin Luo with her beautiful eyes.

The old monk looked at Ziyue and said, "You're not smart!"

Ziyue buried her head in her mutton.

The old monk rose and bowed with one palm to the middle-aged vendor, saying, "Thank you, benefactor. Buddha will bless you."

The middle-aged vendor nodded with a smile.

"Let's go without saying anything."

The old monk walked towards Luoxia Peak.

As soon as the young monk turned around, Ziyue picked up the white steamed buns from the plate and whispered, "These two buns are for you. Don't let the old monk see them."

The young monk was very polite. He put his hands together, bowed, and accepted the steamed bun with gratitude in his eyes.

Qin Luo smiled, and Hua Ying rested her chin on her slender hand, finding Zi Yue adorable as well.

The young monk followed the old monk up the mountain.

Qin Luo and Hua Ying accompanied Zi Yue to drink mutton soup.

"Senior brother, am I really not smart?"

"Great wisdom appears as foolishness."

"Senior brother, what do you mean?"

"He looks stupid, but he's actually very smart."

"hey-hey."

Zi Yue grinned after hearing this.

"Take the remaining steamed buns back with your junior brother."

"OK."

Hua Ying gazed at Qin Luo, whose face always wore a bright smile, making him increasingly pleasant to look at.

...

Longhu Temple.

A knock came from outside the Taoist temple.

Upon hearing this, Zhang Fulong walked out of the main hall and saw the old monk and the young monk outside the door.

Seeing their tattered monk robes, Zhang Fulong thought they were begging and quickly waved his hand, saying, "You're all poor folks, I can't help you."

"Master Zhang, this humble monk has come to inquire about the Dao."

The old monk raised one palm in a gesture of respect.

"Asked?"

Where would you like to go?

Zhang Fulong walked with his hands behind his back into the courtyard in front of the hall. He felt that the monk's attire did not resemble that of a real monk.

"This humble monk wishes to enter a Taoist temple!"

"Come in."

Zhang Fulong nodded.

The old monk told the young monk to stand outside the door, and he walked into the Longhu Temple alone, a smile on his face.

Zhang Fulong pointed to a spot not far away, "There's ginger soup over there. It's cold, you can have a bowl to warm yourself up."

The old monk chuckled and shook his head. "Thank you for your kindness, Master Zhang. I just had some mutton soup at the foot of the mountain and I'm feeling warm."

"Your life is even more comfortable than mine!" Zhang Fulong said with some envy. He was reluctant to spend money and only drank the free porridge.

The old monk slowly stepped forward, bowed slightly, and said earnestly, "Master Zhang, please!"

"What?"

Zhang Fulong was somewhat bewildered.

"Big monk, what do you want to do?"

"Master Zhang, this humble monk wishes to ask you the Daoist questions."

Zhang Fulong had a bad feeling. He clutched his stomach and said, "It's suddenly so moving. I must take my leave."

As he was about to leave, a golden light emanated from the old monk, enveloping the courtyard. Time seemed to stand still, and Zhang Fulong's body was immobilized in place.

The old monk waved his hand.

A golden ripple spread out.

The golden ripples distorted space, and the consequences of being hit by them would be severe.

In the blink of an eye, Zhang Fulong's eyes became deep. He raised his hands to form a hand seal, and a Bagua diagram appeared in front of him.

Boom!

Sunset Peak is swaying.

Qin Luo looked up at the Dragon and Tiger Temple.

Hua Ying raised an eyebrow, her eyes filled with curiosity. "They're sparring. Aren't you going back to watch?"

Qin Luo trusted his master. He looked at his junior sister and smiled, "Junior sister, take your time eating."

Hearing the commotion on the mountain, Ziyue wolfed down her food, eager to get back to watch the play.

......

Inside the Longhu Temple.

"Who invited you?"

"The Imperial Advisor."

The old monk did not hide anything.

Zhang Fulong shook his head slightly and said in a deep voice, "Even he doesn't dare to come to Longhu Temple, you're quite bold?"

"This humble monk did not wish to come either."

"But he gave so much."
