Why Do You Think I'll Always Like You?

I used half my life to gain this great enlightenment. If I were to look back even once, I would deserve to die," Chen Lu said to himself after waking up.

He and Mo Yuqing had known each o...

Chapter 16 I'm Right Behind You

The girl followed Chen Lu silently up the stairs, her ponytail swaying behind her, looking very capable.

"Handing out flyers must be tiring, right?" Chen Lu casually started a conversation.

"It's alright, I'm only a little tired today."

Liang Zhirou recalled how she used to run around trying to finish sending the message quickly, and said softly.

Chen Lu was stunned for a moment, clearly not understanding.

After finishing the move, Chen Lu pulled Liang Zhirou to sit on the playground and relax.

He's starting to enjoy spending quiet time with this goofy guy more and more.

The two watched the various people passing by and remained silent for a long time, only occasionally meeting each other's eyes.

Many people feel depressed when they see the sunset in the evening, and Chen Lu is one of them.

"You must be so tired every day. Is your mother's illness very serious?" Chen Lu asked slowly, looking at the fiery clouds on the horizon.

"Could you tell me about your family?"

Liang Zhirou had been answering Chen Lu's questions since the beginning, and this time was no different. She hugged her knees and slowly began to tell him about her family.

“My father passed away when I was young. A few years later, my mother was in a car accident and became paralyzed in both legs. Every year, she has to spend a lot of money on treatment to maintain feeling in her legs.”

That's why I want to work hard to earn money, support my mother, and save up for her surgery.

She paused after speaking.

Even though there's a high chance my mother won't be able to stand up after the surgery, I still don't want to give up...

This was the longest conversation Liang Zhirou had ever had with Chen Lu since they met. The girl spoke calmly, as if she were recounting something that had happened to someone else.

She's gotten used to it and accepted her fate.

Then the two fell silent again. Chen Lu's face became increasingly blurry in Liang Zhirou's eyes, as if seen through a layer of mist.

She never wanted to tell anyone about it. She was afraid of seeing pity in other people's eyes, worried that it would become gossip, and also afraid of reminding herself of her own incompetence and weakness.

But she was willing to confide in Chen Lu, knowing that Chen Lu wouldn't look at her that way.

She had been struggling for so long before meeting Chen Lu, so she couldn't help but pour out everything.

She found herself increasingly drawn to his tenderness, like a drowning person seeing driftwood.

"Liang Zhirou, do you believe in miracles?" Chen Lu suddenly asked.

Liang Zhirou was clearly taken aback. After a moment of stunned silence, her expression turned dejected again. "I don't believe it... at least it couldn't happen to me."

How could a girl tormented by such hardship possibly believe in something so illusory?

"It's possible," Chen Lu said seriously.

"For example, someone suddenly appears in your life who is willing to understand you and even share your joys and sorrows."

After saying that, Chen Lu slowly stood up again.

"Let's not talk about this anymore. I'll help you distract yourself."

A short while later, Chen Lu borrowed a guitar and sat down next to Liang Zhirou again, with about a body length between them.

"What do you want to hear?" Chen Lu asked, raising an eyebrow. "I know quite a lot."

Just then, Lin Miaomiao, who had just finished her work, came to the two of them.

"Thank you for your hard work, senior." Lin Miaomiao said with a mischievous smile, handing Chen Lu a bottle of water.

"climb."

Lin Miaomiao didn't argue back, and continued to smile. She knew that although Chen Lu said he was disgusted, he was actually trying his best to help.

Although it's not clear whether there's anything between the two of them right now, if Chen Lu suddenly tells her that he wants to pursue Liang Zhirou, she probably won't have much of an objection.

Suddenly, she looked at Chen Lu, who was holding a guitar, with a surprised expression.

"You can play the guitar? I want to hear you!"

"Of course, listen carefully." Chen Lu confidently strummed a few strings.

Lin Miaomiao frowned upon hearing this, looking at him with utter disdain.

The sound was completely out of tune...

It's obvious you can't play it.

Even so, Liang Zhirou listened very attentively.

This was the first time someone had ever played guitar for her.

"Senior, I thought you were going to show off your skills. You can't even play the guitar, what are you trying to prove?" Lin Miaomiao rolled her eyes at Chen Lu, speechless, and then left, feeling bored.

Anyone can pluck the strings randomly; she could play something like that herself.

Chen Lu watched Lin Miaomiao's retreating figure, then turned and smiled at Liang Zhirou before continuing to pluck the strings of his zither.

This time, Chen Lu's movements were skillful and professional, and it was obvious that it was a piece of music. Liang Zhirou was stunned and never expected that Chen Lu had been faking it all along.

"The troublesome person is finally gone. Listen carefully, I'll only play for you."

Upon hearing this, the girl's heart seemed to skip a beat, and she felt a strange sense of joy, but she quickly blushed because of her "selfish" thoughts.

In that instant, she was no longer the sole pillar of her family; it seemed she had become a girl who needed to be cared for, loved, and to enjoy youth and happiness.

"The sky really wants it to rain"

I really want to live next door to you.

...

Sing this song for you

There is no particular style

It merely represents

I want to bring you happiness.

Thawing the Glacier for You

I'd be a moth drawn to a flame for you.

Nothing is not worth it…

Liang Zhirou listened with rapt attention.

It was even more amazing than she expected; Chen Lu sang really well and played the guitar exceptionally well.

This can also be seen from the fact that people often stop and linger for a long time.

Soon, more and more people gathered around, and Liang Zhirou lowered her head even further.

Suddenly, Chen Lu placed the back of his hand on her forehead and gently lifted her head, making her look at him.
