Why Do You Think I'll Always Like You?

I used half my life to gain this great enlightenment. If I were to look back even once, I would deserve to die," Chen Lu said to himself after waking up.

He and Mo Yuqing had known each o...

Chapter 285 Frugal Household Management

For the next two days, Chen Lu accompanied Liang Zhirou as she looked at electric scooter models online.

In the end, I decided to buy it from a physical store.

This thing isn't exactly cheap, so Liang Zhirou felt it would be more reassuring to buy one in person.

As evening fell and the streetlights came on, the two tidied their clothes and went out, chatting about going up and down the stairs.

When he got to the first floor, he ran into Aunt He, who had given him Spring Festival couplets during the Lunar New Year, bringing her youngest son, who was in his twenties, home.

The old lady was kind-hearted; her only flaw was that she cared more about his life's important matters than Wang Xiaoxia did. Chen Lu also remembered their two children: their eldest daughter was a counselor at their school and was currently waiting for a job transfer; the youngest son was a programmer and a few years older than him.

"Auntie's back?" Chen Lu greeted her with a smile. He didn't know when it started, but he had become just like those adults.

"Yes!" Aunt He responded with a squinty eye, then looked up at Liang Zhirou, who was timidly lowering her head, and asked curiously, "What are you two doing?"

"Let's buy something." Chen Lu said, then quietly squeezed Liang Zhirou's hand, signaling her to say hello as well. Politeness aside for now, after all, change starts with small things.

Actually, she had already called out "Auntie" earlier, but her voice was so soft that no one except Chen Lu heard her.

Her courage did not allow her to say it again.

Liang Zhirou hasn't changed much in this respect; she's still too shy. Chen Mo, on the other hand, doesn't care whether you hear her or not; she'll just smile and call out until you respond or change the subject to her.

"You two have been living together every day since the New Year, when are you going to set a date?"

"Let's talk about it first, let's talk about it first. We're both too young right now."

"You young people these days are so unhurried. People our age back then already had kids. If you get married soon, your parents can still help take care of the kids while they're still young..."

Chen Lu twitched the corner of his mouth and gestured with his chin toward Liang Zhirou, whose cheeks were flushed from listening, "You guys go back, I'm leaving first."

"Okay, okay."

Before Chen Lu could even take a step, Liang Zhirou led him out of the building.

"Wow, he's so much younger than me. He's not even old enough to get a marriage certificate yet." The bespectacled boy walked slowly down the hallway and couldn't help but turn back and mutter to himself.

He and Chen Lu had a relationship where they would occasionally meet and exchange greetings, and their impressions of each other were fairly good.

However, he genuinely assumed that Chen Lu was about the same age as him based solely on his speech, since Chen Lu, apart from his appearance, didn't seem very childish.

Many college graduates who have just entered society, and even he himself when he first graduated, inevitably have a naive look in their eyes, making them seem easy to fool.

But Chen Lu did not.

"How dare you say that! How dare you say that!" Aunt He became increasingly angry as she listened, repeatedly slapping his back. "He's so young and he's already found such a beautiful girlfriend, while you've been going on blind dates for years! Either you don't like her or she doesn't like you. Do you even know anyone who isn't married?"

"It's not good to have a wife who's too beautiful; she might not care about the family," the boy said indignantly, his tone turning slightly sour as he recalled Liang Zhirou's appearance earlier.

I've never seen such a beautiful girl in my entire life.

Upon hearing this, Aunt He clutched her chest tightly, took several deep breaths, and then spoke in a voice that could be heard throughout the entire hallway:

"I'm not asking you to find someone just as beautiful, you don't have her abilities! I'd be so grateful if you could find a girlfriend who's just as sensible and family-oriented, okay?"

She grew angrier the more she thought about it, and went up to slap her son twice more. "His girlfriend was lining up at the supermarket to get free eggs the other day, and where is your girlfriend working now?"

The boy's heart pounded from her words. He couldn't take it anymore and quickly begged for mercy with a crestfallen face, "Mom, please stop talking. I'll shut up, I'll shut up, okay?"

She's not only so beautiful, but also so virtuous? How come Chen Lu gets all the good things in the world?

"Hmph! If you don't go on that blind date next month, I'm not your mother!"

Outside the stairwell.

Chen Lu yawned lazily and was about to leave when Liang Zhirou pulled him in front of her and reached out to straighten his collar.

"Your clothes pill so easily, take them off tomorrow and I'll glue them for you." Liang Zhirou said softly, "You seem so lazy, the lint roller is right there in the entryway, and you don't even know to use it yourself... I'll buy you clothes made of a different fabric next time."

He nodded silently, looked down at the girl in front of him who was focused and gentle, and couldn't help but gently kiss her forehead.

These words sound exactly like a wife's, and coupled with her irresistibly pretty face, no guy could resist this combination of punches.

Liang Zhirou noticed that Chen Lu had kissed her. Her hand paused for a moment, and then she lowered her head even further, hiding the corners of her slightly upturned mouth.

Her cheeks were flushed even more brightly than the fiery red sunset on the horizon.

She clearly also vaguely sensed why Chen Lu suddenly had the urge to kiss her.

The place they were going to was no more than two kilometers away, and neither of them intended to drive; they figured they could just walk there hand in hand.

Chen Lu led Liang Zhirou by the hand as they walked out of the community gate. They slowly walked into the streetlights as the night grew darker. A gentle evening breeze blew, making their faces slightly cold. In the distance, brilliant fiery clouds stretched across the horizon, seemingly without end.

It wasn't rush hour yet, and only a few people occasionally rode past them on their bikes. After the noisy silver bells rang, the atmosphere remained exceptionally quiet.

I always feel particularly calm.
