Why Do You Think I'll Always Like You?

I used half my life to gain this great enlightenment. If I were to look back even once, I would deserve to die," Chen Lu said to himself after waking up.

He and Mo Yuqing had known each o...

Chapter 418 Time Waits for No One

The next day, the house returned to its usual lively atmosphere.

Two elderly women who had raised children were helping to care for the giant panda. Chen Lu could only assist most of the time and could not help much except watch from the side.

"Mom, I'll feed Zhirou, you can rest for a bit." The child's father tried to get some attention.

"If you're really free, go to the kitchen and help make the soup. Don't just cause trouble here."

Chen Lu and Liang Zhirou exchanged a glance, their lips curving slightly upwards, both looking somewhat helpless.

I guess we'll have to wait until after the postpartum period to enjoy some time alone together.

That afternoon, Chen Lu had some free time and happened to be called by Jiang Chao. The two of them got together and went fishing again.

"Is it inappropriate for us to start fishing at such a young age?"

Upon arriving at the reservoir, Chen Lu couldn't help but complain to him. He used to mock Chen Guanglin every day when they were in school, never imagining that he would become one of them now.

Question the angler, understand the angler, become an angler...

Jiang Chao looked at the shimmering water, reached out and touched his newly bought fishing rod, and sneered dismissively.

"Wake up, New Year's Day is over. I'm 25 this year, not that young anymore." Jiang Chao rummaged in his pocket. Chen Lu thought he was going to light a cigarette. Then, in full view of everyone, he pulled out a lollipop, put it in his mouth, and continued, "When Jiang Nan goes to school, I'll really be a middle-aged uncle."

Chen Lu then realized what was happening, and his pupils trembled a few times.

"Damn... how did I get to be twenty-four already?"

When I was in my early twenties, I still felt like I was barely an adult, but I can't comfort myself with that anymore.

As time went by, they were no longer the carefree kids who would go to internet cafes every day to stay up all night and catch up on sleep before class.

Chen Lu stopped complaining and quietly sat down to the side, suddenly feeling that fishing might not be so bad.

Two married men with children got together again, but their mindset was very different from before.

When men are under a lot of pressure, they always need to find ways to distract themselves.

Go to an internet cafe... Some people there are noisier than my little kid at home.

Fishing is better; it's quiet.

You can eat the fish you catch.

"Why did you suddenly call me today?" Chen Lu asked.

Jiang Chao, with a lollipop stick dangling from his mouth, gave a cool, cold laugh. "That woman is ignorant. I'll leave her at home to reflect on her mistakes!"

"......"

No, what are you pretending for?

How did you manage to describe being kicked out of your home in such a refined and elegant way?

Chen Lu looked at him like he was an idiot, and asked cooperatively, "What mistake did Liu Yan make?"

“Liu Yan kept telling me early this morning that she had no clothes to wear. I was puzzled and said, ‘You clearly have so many clothes. You keep saying you have nothing to wear while looking at a closet full of clothes. Are you sick?’ Then she kicked me… So I made her stay home and reflect on her actions.”

Jiang Chao clicked his tongue. "Do you think all girls have this problem?! I just find it so strange, she never wears the same outfit twice..."

“I think so too. Chen Mo always says he has no clothes to wear, he’s been like that since he was little. It’s not that he couldn’t wear them before, it’s that he didn’t want to wear them anymore.”

Chen Lu chuckled and agreed. He couldn't very well say that his wife wasn't like that, and that she would occasionally consider his XP when buying new clothes, could he?

That would be too unethical; it shouldn't affect the relationship between a brother and his wife.

The two married men stayed until dusk, when twilight fell.

Jiang Chao was really annoyed. He had come out to relax, but not only had he not caught a single fish after sitting there all afternoon, this guy next to him kept asking him all sorts of questions about things to keep in mind when taking care of a child.

They asked about everything, big and small, even how long it took Jiang Nan to learn to crawl.

Looking at the darkening sky in the distance, he thought that Liu Yan should have reflected on her actions enough after an afternoon of introspection, and he should let her in when he knocked on the door.

"I'm not fishing anymore," he said, standing up.

"I haven't caught a single one. I'll be laughed at to death when I get home like this." Chen Lu didn't want to leave.

Jiang Chao spat to the side, remained silent for a moment, and then suddenly said, "How about... we buy another one?"

Chen Lu stared at the motionless float on the water for a long time without saying a word.

Upon arriving at the market, as soon as I reached the fish stall, a pungent fishy smell wafted towards me.

Chen Lu was worried that he would catch too many fish in the afternoon and have to take a shower when he got back, but he didn't catch a single one all afternoon.

Just as he was about to give a wry smile, Jiang Chao said, "Boss, I'll give you more money, can you let me fish in your pond for a while?"

Chen Lu quickly pushed the guy away.

Judging from the fishmonger's expression, he probably suspected that Jiang Chao had been released from a mental hospital.

When she got home, Liang Zhirou was sitting on the sofa, playing with a strand of hair to amuse her child, looking quite bored.

It was obvious that the two empress dowagers hadn't let her watch TV.

Upon seeing him enter, the girl gasped in surprise and quickly asked:

Did you catch it?

Chen Lu neither confirmed nor denied it, but silently put down his fishing rod, saying, "I've been fishing all afternoon."

Since I can't bear to lie to this simpleton, I'll just tell the truth.

"So big?"

Liang Zhirou's clear and beautiful eyes were filled with admiration.

Wang Xiaoxia, who was making dinner, came out of the kitchen and suddenly chuckled upon seeing this, "Better than your father."

When Chen Guanglin realized he couldn't catch any more fish, he bought one to take home. He was already in his thirties when she laughed and mocked him for years.

Chen Lu knew to buy a dog when he was in his twenties, which saved him more than ten years of detours.

Is this daughter-in-law a bit naive? She actually believes that?

Chen Lu thought Wang Xiaoxia was really praising him, and scratched his head guiltily.
