Why Do You Think I'll Always Like You?

I used half my life to gain this great enlightenment. If I were to look back even once, I would deserve to die," Chen Lu said to himself after waking up.

He and Mo Yuqing had known each o...

Chapter 6: Sneaky into the village, no shooting allowed.

"This is only the second day since we met, and you've been waiting for me like an idiot for so long. And you still say you're not stupid." Chen Lu held up two fingers and waved them in front of the girl. "If we'd known each other any longer, wouldn't I be selling you out and you'd still be counting the money for me?"

“...You won’t sell me.” The girl gently shook her head. “You’ve been very good to me, and you were the only one who helped me back then.”

Chen Lu chuckled to himself, "You're not allowed to thank me anymore."

Liang Zhirou immediately closed her mouth after hearing this, her little head turning for a moment before she cautiously asked, "Then, then I'll treat you to dinner?"

Chen Lu was about to refuse when he noticed that the girl was looking down deeply, her fingers repeatedly fidgeting with the hem of her clothes.

He cursed himself inwardly, then quickly smiled and said:

"Looks like my stomach has a mind of its own. Let's go, I'm going to give you a good beating."

If I don't accept the girl's gratitude, it will probably only make her feel more inferior.

Liang Zhirou seemed to feel much better immediately, nodding repeatedly.

"Then wait for me to go back to my dorm," the girl said softly.

"Let's just eat in the cafeteria, the rain hasn't stopped yet."

"Alright..."

So he really is going back to get the money.

They actually believed me when I said I was going to rip them off. How can anyone be so easily fooled?

As soon as the two entered the cafeteria, they immediately felt much warmer.

Because there were many people, Chen Lu gently held onto Liang Zhirou's sleeve and they slowly squeezed forward together.

While Chen Lu wasn't looking back, Liang Zhirou kept glancing at him and then at her sleeve, which was being pinched.

This gentleness, just right and without crossing any boundaries, filled her with a sense of security.

She inexplicably wished she could walk like this a little longer.

But the good times didn't last long. When they reached a less crowded area, Chen Lu let go of her hand and turned around.

"Shall we find a place to sit for a while? I'm not that hungry right now."

Liang Zhirou blinked blankly, "Then I'll go buy what I want to eat first."

Now it was Chen Lu's turn to be confused. "There are more directly operated stores on the second floor, let's eat together."

"After I finish buying my own things, I'll treat you to that."

After the girl finished speaking, she turned and left, gently poking him twice before leaving, as if to say, "Stay here and don't wander off."

While getting her food, Liang Zhirou would occasionally turn around and look at him.

Chen Lu simply found a table and sat down, pretending to be thinking, resting his chin on his hand while secretly glancing at his phone under the table.

Chen Lu: Boss, I'm at the new cafeteria. Please bring me my meal card quickly. Please reply when you receive it.

Jiang Chao: Received, over.

Chen Lu: Sneaky into the village, no shooting. Remember not to speak after you see me.

Jiang Chao: ?

Before Chen Lu could explain in detail, Liang Zhirou had already bought her lunch.

Chen Lu's eyes nearly popped out as he looked at the dishes on her iron plate.

A bowl of plain porridge, a steamed bun, and a serving of shredded potatoes.

That's it.

That's all.

This scene made Chen Lu begin to doubt whether he was really living in the 21st century.

Liang Zhirou quietly sat down opposite Chen Lu, looking obedient and well-behaved.

"That's all? Are you full?" Chen Lu was genuinely surprised. "No wonder you're so thin."

"I'm full," Liang Zhirou said earnestly, then, realizing something, quickly added:

You can eat whatever you want.

The girl spoke with great insistence, as if she was afraid that her actions would discourage Chen Lu from spending money.

If I don't say I'm not hungry, are you going to wait for me to buy food before you buy what you want to eat?

This was the first time in Chen Lu's life that he had seen a girl who could be so adorably stubborn in this regard.

Chen Lu reached out and took the meal card from the girl's hand. "Give me your card, I'll go buy it myself. Don't worry, since you said you wanted to thank me, I'm definitely going to treat you to a good meal."

Although the girl bought the cheapest meal herself, she just pursed her lips when handing over her campus card, seemingly feeling a little pained, but she didn't hesitate.

She felt it was the right thing to do to express her gratitude.

Chen Lu then moved to a place where Liang Zhirou couldn't see him and completed the "connection" with Jiang Chao, who had arrived.

"What's wrong with you? Why don't you just go back to your dorm if you don't have your campus card?" Jiang Chao asked curiously.

After saying that, he seemed to remember something, and looked at Chen Lu with a maternal smile, "Are you having dinner with the girl who returned your clothes?"

"Ah, yes, yes, yes."

Not wanting to hear Jiang Chao mention Mo Yuqing again, Chen Lu didn't respond and turned to look out the window.

"Auntie, one serving of these shrimp, and the sweet and sour pork ribs, please."

"Hey, your hands are shaking like that, that's a bit much!"

Contrary to Chen Lu's expectations, when he carried back the dishes that looked like they cost a lot of money, Liang Zhirou's expression remained unchanged.

On the contrary, they seemed to have breathed a sigh of relief.

This further improved Chen Lu's impression of the girl.

Although he didn't know who had entered whose world, Chen Lu always felt that Liang Zhirou had brought a unique touch to his life.

He never expected that Liang Zhirou would actually be waiting for him there all along.

The warmth he felt hadn't subsided, stirring ripples in his heart.

After a while, Chen Lu realized something was wrong. The silly girl in front of him was actually keeping her head down and eating her food obediently, without touching the ribs and shrimp.

"Why haven't you touched it? I definitely can't finish it all by myself," Chen Lu asked curiously.
