I used half my life to gain this great enlightenment. If I were to look back even once, I would deserve to die," Chen Lu said to himself after waking up.
He and Mo Yuqing had known each o...
After Chen Lu finished speaking, he quietly moved his phone a little further away from his ear.
Sure enough, an extremely noisy sound came from inside.
"Holy crap!! You really agreed?" Jiang Chao shouted at the top of his lungs, seemingly forgetting to even chew the snacks in his mouth.
“Yes,” Chen Lu said softly, “but there are some things we still need to discuss. Let’s talk about it when I get back to my dorm.”
Jiang Chao said excitedly, "Okay, okay, I'll wait for you."
Chen Lu hung up the phone and continued to look at Liang Zhirou for a while.
The girl was still there, diligently sorting the packages, putting each one in its proper place.
She would occasionally lower her head to look intently at the information recorded on it, her hair drooping down with her movements, which she would then gently tuck behind her ears.
Chen Lu was a little surprised, as it seemed that after he told her he liked her long hair, she hadn't worn a ponytail much.
Liang Zhirou seemed to sense a figure that hadn't moved for a long time in the distance. Feeling strange, she looked up, but saw nothing.
Only a gentle breeze blew by, rustling the green leaves on those few trees.
......
As soon as Chen Lu returned to his dormitory, Jiang Chao swarmed around him like a ghost.
"Tell me quickly! What made you suddenly change your mind?" he asked curiously.
Chen Lu tilted his head, somewhat speechless. "Why do I keep feeling like I'm being unreasonable?"
"Get lost!" Jiang Chao laughed and cursed at him, then grabbed the car keys on the table and stroked them a few times reluctantly.
He then raised his eyelids, turned to look at Chen Lu, and said, "Let's go, come with me for a drive around for a bit."
Chen Lu didn't ask any more questions and went along with them.
The dark black Mercedes drove along the road in the setting sun, turning at familiar bends without any destination.
Xu Shangao's "Courage This Year" was playing in the car, and the two chatted idly.
“You’ve changed, my dear son,” Jiang Chao suddenly said.
"How has your father changed?"
Chen Lu would never allow himself to be taken advantage of like that.
It's all too common for guys to subtly change how they address each other without realizing it.
Failure a few times doesn't matter, but as long as you succeed once, no matter how old you are, you can laugh like a fool.
Jiang Chao tapped the steering wheel with his index finger with a smug look, as if his ideas could only be truly realized with Chen Lu's involvement. "Of course you've changed. You're not confused anymore."
You might have been debating yesterday whether to slack off for the rest of your life or to strive for something more.
Chen Lu smirked, "So you admit I'm your father?"
"Get lost! I'm talking to you seriously."
“Then I’m your dad too.” Chen Lu shrugged.
Jiang Chao suddenly had a strong urge to slam the steering wheel and take this guy down with him. He was just getting emotional, trying to be sentimental, and he was doing this.
That's boring!
They are not filial at all.
"So why? Is it convenient to tell me?" Jiang Chao asked, still very curious.
Chen Lu looked at the sun, which was faintly visible among the tall buildings in the distance, and smiled unconsciously. "Because there's a fool working to save money to buy me a camera."
"So isn't it normal for me to find a job for her too?"
Ultimately, it's all about doing your best to fulfill the other person's wishes; it's the same thing.
Jiang Chao frowned, as if he had just swallowed a big lemon. "You call this working?"
"Oh, right. Speaking of which, it reminds me of something. Let's team up, and I'll take the lead." Chen Lu's expression turned serious. "Don't worry, I won't take your money for free; I'll pay for it myself."
It was precisely because Chen Lu and Jiang Chao had such a good relationship that he had to make such a clear distinction.
Teaming up with Jiang Chao is fine; he trusts him completely. Jiang Chao is the kind of person who would charge ahead of you on the battlefield if he considered you a brother.
But it wouldn't work if Jiang Chao took the lead; if they really followed his path, the two of them would definitely starve to death.
These words almost made Jiang Chao drop his cigarette. He thought Chen Lu was about to say something important with such a serious expression on his face.
"I thought you were going to say something else, is that all?" He spat out a word of disdain. "I already said that even if you don't contribute a single penny, I'll still listen to you."
Chen Lu chuckled and looked out the window, "Looks like I'm pretty important, buddy."
After a while, he said again, "You really trust me? That's outrageous."
Jiang Chao opened the car window and slowly exhaled a smoke ring.
"June is almost here, and when the new batch of juniors comes in September, we'll have known each other for three years."
It may not have been a long time, but you are truly my best brother. That's the main reason I trust you, and the secondary reason is that you are genuinely capable.
I'm not an idiot. Do you think I'd keep begging you to come and be my nephew if you're incompetent at everything?
Of course, I value your abilities, but that's really a secondary factor.
Jiang Chao seemed to want to emphasize that what he valued most was the relationship between the two of them.
"When did we become close?" Chen Lu suddenly asked.
Jiang Chao seemed to recall something and couldn't help but chuckle silently, "I suddenly remembered that I really didn't like you back when school started."
My buddy thought that with my looks, I'd be a heartbreaker in college, with girlfriends lining up for me. But then, all excited, I walked into my dorm and saw you. Damn it, I still think you deserved to die.
"Before I got together with Liu Yan, I never got close to any of the girls in our class because of you."
"Later, the counselor asked us to run for class monitor ourselves, right? When I stood up, I saw that you didn't stand up, and I immediately felt at ease."
