Chapter 201 Old Cause

A thick fog was spreading.

At this moment, a figure emerged from the thick fog.

It was a woman, incredibly tall, at least 1.75 meters. She walked with an elegant and deliberate manner, each step like a carefully calculated dance move.

Her long raven-blue hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall, and the ends of her hair swayed gently with her steps, as if they had life.

Nan Song's gaze was involuntarily attracted. There was a strange luster flickering between the hair, which did not seem like reflected light, but rather a faint light coming from within.

The woman's clothing was extremely exotic, with intricate patterns embroidered in gold thread on her black robe, which was faintly visible in the dim light.

The patterns seem to change shape as the viewing angle changes, sometimes like vines winding around, sometimes like flames rising.

She wore a black and gold hair accessory with a strange shape, like a totem of some ancient civilization, shining with mysterious light in the mist.

But what caught her attention most was the strange cart next to her.

The cart was very tall, almost reaching the woman's waist, and was pulled by a creature that Nansong had never seen before.

The creature had a body as strong as an ox, but a neck and head as graceful as a horse. Its eyes were large and bright, and they shone like emeralds in the mist.

Its fur was a strange silver-gray color, rising and falling slightly with its breathing, as if stars were flowing in it.

The cart was filled with all kinds of bottles and jars in various shapes and materials.

Some are as crystal clear as crystal, some are as rough and rustic as clay, and some sparkle with metallic luster.

Each container contains liquid or powder of a different color, which is still bright and eye-catching even in the dim light.

What is even more surprising is that there are flowers growing on the surface of these bottles and jars - bright red rose hips, white gardenias, purple orchid grass, and some exotic flowers that Nansong has never seen before. They are not inserted in vases, but grow directly out of the bottles, with roots entwined around the surface of the containers, and the flowers blooming gorgeously.

Nansong was no stranger to carts, because her mother also had one such cart and used it to take her around the country when she was little, measuring the world with her footsteps.

But now in her eyes, this inexplicably appearing woman was pushing the cart and traveling alone in the apocalyptic fog, forming a sharp contrast with the surrounding collapsed environment.

Her presence is like a barrier, isolating herself from decay and decline.

Nan Song was so fascinated by the scene that he forgot to breathe for a moment.

"Who is she? Where is she from? Where is she going?"

These questions swirled in Nansong's mind. She subconsciously took a step forward, wanting to see more clearly, but accidentally kicked a loose brick.

The sound was not loud, but it was particularly clear in the silent street.

The woman also suddenly stopped.

Nansong's heartbeat suddenly accelerated, and blood roared in his eardrums.

She instinctively wanted to hide, but found that her legs were rooted and unable to move.

The woman slowly turned her head.

Time froze at this moment.

Nan Song saw a face that could not be accurately described in words - both young and old, both familiar and strange.

The woman's skin was as smooth as porcelain, yet revealed a texture that had gone through vicissitudes of life.

The eyes were the most striking part, the irises a strange white-purple color, while the pupils shone with golden light, like a vortex containing an entire galaxy.

When those eyes locked onto Nansong, she felt an electric current running up her spine to the back of her head.

It wasn't fear, but a more complex feeling—as if countless fragments of memory suddenly flooded into her consciousness, only to vanish in an instant, leaving behind only a faint melancholy and an inexplicable sense of familiarity.

The woman's lips moved slightly, as if she wanted to say something.

But at this moment, the whole world suddenly shook violently.

The ground undulated like waves, buildings began to twist and deform, and glass windows bent and drooped like melted candy.

The mist swirled and formed eddies, through which fragments of other worlds could be vaguely seen - endless deserts, dense rainforests, towering spires, all flashed by.

Nan Song only felt a strong dizziness and his vision began to blur.

In the last moment before she lost consciousness, she saw the woman reach out her hand, her fingertips gleaming with a faint golden light. At the same time, a whisper echoed directly in her mind:

"It is not yet time, lost ones..."

Then, darkness swallowed everything.

When Nansong regained consciousness, he found himself kneeling on the cold ground of that strange city again, with his hands deeply buried in his hair.

The streets returned to calm and the fog had mostly dissipated, as if everything that had just happened was just an illusion.

But when she stood up trembling, she found a flower she had never seen before at her feet - the petals were a dreamy white and purple, and the center of the flower shone with a faint golden light, just like the color of the woman's eyes.

Nan Song picked up the flower carefully. The petals felt cool and tough, like the finest silk.

When she brought the flower close to her nose, she smelled a strange fragrance, which was like the freshness of the forest after the rain, the scent of ink in ancient books, and a faint metallic smell.

"This is not a dream..."

Nansong muttered to himself, holding the flower tightly in his palm.

She looked around, trying to find other traces of the mysterious woman, but she only saw ordinary streets and pedestrians hurrying by. They looked normal, as if they were unaware of the changes that had just occurred.

Nan Song suddenly realized that he might have just experienced an encounter that ordinary people could not perceive.
