A modern Feng Shui master and fortune teller, Lin Wanyue, is transported by a car accident to a dynasty not recorded in history, becoming a three-year-old baby abandoned in a mass grave.
The ...
The family had just finished shopping and were heading home when they unexpectedly ran into an acquaintance on the street.
"Ji Ren? What brings you here? Come over to my house for a meal. It's been so long since I've seen you." Lin Weiming was surprised to run into Zhou Ji Ren, the youngest son of the village head, on the road.
This guy was incredibly lucky with women. He was captured by a female ghost, and the stench almost made all the men in the village, young and old, lose their physiques.
"Going into town to buy things?"
"Hehe." Zhou Jiren's eyes lit up when he saw Lin Wanyue. He first greeted Lin Weiming and Liu Junlan, and said with an embarrassed smile, "Brother Lin, I actually came here to find you, but I didn't know where you lived. I asked around all the way, and I didn't expect to run into you here!"
"Come on, come on, perfect timing! Let's go to my place for a meal first, I'm starving." Lin Weiming patted his belly heartily and was about to pull Zhou Jiren home for dinner.
"No need for a meal, I'll just grab something quick outside." Zhou Jiren pulled a large steamed bun out of his pocket, intending to make do with it for lunch.
When he left home, his family had already told him that it was expensive in the city and that he had to spend money to buy anything, so he must not take advantage of Lin Weiming's family.
Zhou Jiren remembered these words well. While inquiring about Lin Weiming, he found that because of the hot weather, even asking for a cup of water would cost money.
Zhou Jiren became even more convinced that Lin Weiming and his family must not have had an easy time in the city!
Lin Weiming and Liu Junlan are both soft-hearted people, how could they bear to see this? Zhou Jiren, a fellow villager, came to visit them, but they couldn't even get a hot meal.
“Ji Ren, you really are a child. You just listen to your aunt. Your aunt has already prepared a meal at her house. If you refuse to come to our house for dinner, are you looking down on your aunt?” Liu Junlan brought up the title of elder, so Zhou Ji Ren could no longer refuse and went to the Lin family with them.
It was Zhou Jiren's first time visiting Lin's house in the city. After walking around inside and out, he began to praise, "Brother Lin, your house is so nice! It looks much better than our houses in the countryside. When you built your old brick house, the villagers thought you spent too much money. Now, with such thick wooden beams, how much did it cost to buy them? And the windows are even carved with patterns; the carpentry must have cost a lot!"
Having been praised so lavishly, Lin Weiming felt proud and began to hold his head higher. He was pleased to hear this and said with a smile, "I don't know much about these things. It's good enough to have a place to stay, just a place to shelter from the wind and rain."
"Brother Lin, you can't say that. If your house is just a place to live, then our house is like a pigsty or a dog shed!" Zhou Jiren looked on with envy.
He was right, with Lin Wanyue, this little fairy, in the Lin family, how could they possibly have a bad life?
…
The meal at home had already been prepared, but when Zhou Jiren arrived, Xuefu quickly took out a few copper coins and asked Lin Zheyun to go to the market to buy some vegetables to add to the meal.
Liu Junlan helped her out; both of them were efficient workers, and in no time they had prepared a large table of food.
"I'm so sorry to have troubled you, Aunt and Sister-in-law." Zhou Jiren scratched his head, feeling happy. He realized that although Lin Weiming and the others were doing well, they still valued him.
While eating at the dinner table, he praised all of the Lin family's children.
Lin Weiming was pleased to hear this, but he didn't forget the important matter at hand.
"By the way, you said you came to see me? Is something wrong in our village?" Lin Weiming asked.
It's not the off-season for farming these days, and every household is busy with watering the fields. Zhou Jiren's sudden trip to the city to find him at this time probably means he's encountered some trouble.
“Oh, it’s nothing really, it’s just…” Zhou Jiren swallowed the food in his mouth and said, “When we went to irrigate the fields a few days ago, we found that the talisman that Wanwan left behind seemed to have some problems, and we were worried that it might have some impact. That’s why my dad asked me to come and find Wanwan to go back and take a look.”
“You in the city probably don’t know, but there are a lot of bandits causing trouble around here. I heard there’s a village up ahead… a woman was pregnant, and her family brought some eggs to visit her, but they were killed on the way, and the whole basket of eggs was stolen. Just think, someone was killed for a basket of eggs… Sigh!”
The villagers were worried that the banditry would spread to Ning'an Village, so they thought of sending Lin Wanyue and the others back to check the formation.
Lin Weiming and his group had been busy with the Lin family's restaurant in the city these past few days and had never heard of these things before, so they sighed for a while.
Lin Wanyue had finished her meal, but was still sitting at the table drinking soup. She was startled when she heard Zhou Jiren's words.
However, she didn't think there would be any problems with her formation, but seeing Zhou Jiren's expectant eyes and his brows furrowed tightly, as if he was afraid she wouldn't agree, she nodded anyway.
Okay.
Seeing that Lin Wanyue had agreed, Liu Junlan thought for a moment and said, "Since that's the case, the Dragon Boat Festival is just a few days away, so our family can go back and rest for a few days. We should also go back and clean the house for the Dragon Boat Festival, so that the house won't always be covered in dust."
"Grandma, no need. I can go back by myself. I don't want to delay the family business." Lin Wanyue quickly waved her hand.
She knew that her family had been so busy lately because they wanted to earn back the money they had invested in the shop as soon as possible. They were working hard from dawn till dusk.
