Why Provoke Her? Even the King of Hell Has to Hand Over a Pacifier

A modern Feng Shui master and fortune teller, Lin Wanyue, is transported by a car accident to a dynasty not recorded in history, becoming a three-year-old baby abandoned in a mass grave.

Chapter 7: My sister found eggs and wild berries.

"She's really gone!" Lin Zihan was in a panic. He was just a little kid of five years old and had never experienced losing his little sister before.

Lin Ziqiu cried even louder: "Waaah—"

Just as the two brothers were about to risk being beaten to death by their grandmother, they trembled as they went back to find someone to help them.

"Guoguo!" A sweet voice instantly stopped Lin Ziqiu's wailing.

Lin Wanyue, dressed in slightly loose, ill-fitting clothes, was holding a large banana leaf. The emerald green color made her skin appear even whiter and more delicate, and a sweet smile graced her thin face.

"Little sister, where have you been?" Lin Zihan, his eyes not blurred by tears, rushed to Lin Wanyue's side a few steps ahead.

"Brother, look!" Lin Wanyue happily handed the contents of the banana leaf to Lin Zihan, "I found it."

Inside the large banana leaf were more than a dozen eggs and several kinds of wild fruits that they had never seen before.

"Did my sister pick these up?" Lin Ziqiu walked over, wiped away his tears and snot, and reached out to grab a deep blueberry that was almost purple and stuff it into his mouth.

But his beloved older brother knocked it away.

"You can't eat it!" Lin Zihan said righteously, "Father said that you can't eat wild fruits that he hasn't tried before."

"Okay." Lin Wanyue knew Lin Weiming was right, but she still couldn't bear to see the food go to waste. "This is fine to eat!"

Seeing that the two were still wary, she simply demonstrated by picking up a blueberry and popping it into her mouth, saying, "It's sweet."

"!!!" Lin Zihan was instantly on high alert. He quickly pinched her cheek with one hand and tried to spit it out with the other. "Ahhhhh, spit it out, spit it out... Wanwan, be good, you can't eat this!"

"Yue!" Lin Wanyue was caught off guard and gagged as the finger was being picked at.

Is her third brother a bit dim-witted?

Lin Wanyue struggled to push his hand away, opened her mouth, and indicated that she had swallowed it.

Staring at Lin Wanyue's face and finding that she didn't seem to be in pain, Lin Zihan then took one for himself and his younger brother.

High-quality fruits cultivated artificially are, of course, a million times tastier than wild fruits.

Just one fruit was so delicious that it made Lin Zihan's eyes light up.

"Little sister, where did you get all these fruits? Let's pick some more to take back for Mom, Dad, and Grandma!" Lin Zihan swallowed hard, but didn't intend to take another one.

"No..." Lin Wanyue pursed her lips, her expression changing slightly. "Have you finished picking them all? Shall we go home, buddy?"

Lin Zihan and Lin Ziqiu were worried that their younger sister couldn't carry so many things, so after a game of rock-paper-scissors, Lin Ziqiu narrowly won and got the reward of carrying the fruit and leading his sister home.

Lin Zihan carefully held the dozen or so eggs, afraid of breaking even one.

"If this happens again next time, I'll have to be the one to hold my sister's hand." She was still bargaining with her younger brother as they walked down the street.

Lin Ziqiu held his younger sister's soft little hand, feeling incredibly proud. He was so pleased with himself that he almost had his tail wagging in the air, and he completely forgot about accommodating his third brother.

The sun hasn't come out since it rained.

In the afternoon, the grove took on a somewhat eerie and terrifying atmosphere.

Behind the trees not far away, Lin Wanyue vaguely saw a floating shadow looking at the three of them, its gaze fixed on her.

She had encountered plenty of evil spirits harming people in her past life.

However, because she had studied feng shui and fortune telling in her previous life, she naturally had some taboos and was worried about being retaliated against by evil spirits. So she went to a Taoist temple to learn how to exorcise ghosts, which was enough to deal with them.

I'm just worried that the two young boys are too young and might be affected by the ghosts' yin energy.

Hopefully, this ghost won't be so ungrateful as to come looking for trouble at their house!

...

As soon as he got home, Lin Ziqiu couldn't help but show off the eggs to his mother: "Mom, look! These are the eggs my little sister found. So many eggs! Enough for our family to eat for a long time."

Like other families in the village, the Lin family kept several hens free-range in their yard.

But the eggs laid by the hen are not eaten on ordinary days. They are a rare source of income for the family, and they are always taken to the market to exchange for needles, thread and salt.

Xuefu had been busy sewing and washing clothes all day and had no time to rest, so she busied herself chopping wood and cooking.

Seeing that Lin Zihan took out more than a dozen eggs from his basket, I was quite surprised.

"So many eggs? Where did you find these?" Xuefu's gentle face rarely showed a serious expression as she stared at Lin Ziqiu and asked, "You didn't steal eggs from someone else, did you?"

In spring, you can find wild ducks and wild bird eggs in the reed marshes.

But whether it's wild ducks or wild birds and pheasants, their eggs aren't that big, and they're unlikely to appear during this season.

The most likely explanation is that it's someone else's chicken that's been accumulating eggs.

Lin Zihan quickly shook his head: "Mother, we didn't steal anything. My sister found it in the haystack, and there were lots of sweet wild fruits too!"

Lin Wanyue's clothes didn't fit properly, and her pants started to slip down after only a few steps. Although her short legs were quite fast, they weren't as fast as Lin Zihan.

When she and Lin Ziqiu returned home, they saw Lin Zihan holding the eggs, pouting, with tears welling up in his eyes, almost crying in grievance.

"Waaaaah, Mother, I really didn't steal anything... These were really picked up by my little sister."

Xuefu gritted her teeth, her anger rising: "Don't drag your sister into this. Tell me honestly, whose house did you steal the eggs from?"
