Chapter 48 Jealousy

Chapter 48 Jealousy

◎“What kind of show do you want to see? I’ll put it on for you in bed.”◎

Lin Yujing turned around to see Chen Jingshu slowly standing behind her.

The man leaned down slightly, using his superior position to trap her in his arms, creating a contrasting atmosphere with Zhang Jiale beside him.

It looks like a young couple in love, taking their younger brother out to play.

"Why are you here? Weren't you supposed to be spending the Lantern Festival with your family?" Lin Yujing asked.

Chen Jingshu held the claw machine with one hand and reached into her palm with the other, squeezing out three game tokens and inserting them into the machine.

He adjusted the gripper's position and angle, then pressed the center button. A puzzle piece was easily gripped and then wobbled off into the inlet/outlet.

“Yes!” Chen Jingshu squatted down, took out the puzzle piece from the bottom exit, and put it into her empty doll cart. Her movements were free and graceful. “This isn’t to keep me company… for the Lantern Festival.”

Lin Yujing nudged him with her elbow, "Lele is still here."

Chen Jingshu crossed his arms, took a step back, and stood beside her. "Oh, there are children here. I'll be mindful of our adult boundaries."

Zhang Jiale was annoyed, and said in a sour tone, "Why are you everywhere?"

"I also want to ask, it's not good for kids to be trying to have a relationship instead of taking advantage of the holidays to catch up on their studies," Chen Jingshu retorted, not to be outdone.

Lin Yujing looked at the two childish kids and sighed helplessly. She simply took the basket of game coins and switched to another machine, leaving the battlefield to the two of them.

Seeing her impatient actions, Zhang Jiale ignored Chen Jingshu and caught up with her to ask, "Senior, you really don't like playing claw machines?"

"I wouldn't say I dislike it, I just don't like it that much," Lin Yujing said tactfully, still feeling embarrassed to reject Zhang Jiale's enthusiasm.

Finally, she fed her last three game coins to the claw machine, and unsurprisingly, she got nothing.

Chen Jingshu, with his hands in his pockets, took the basket from her hands, which she had nowhere to put, and asked, "Are there any other plans? Can we go home now?"

He pronounced the word "go home" clearly and distinctly, obviously speaking to Zhang Jiale.

Zhang Jiale immediately waved the movie tickets in his hand, "Excuse me, Mr. Chen, my senior and I have another movie to watch next."

Chen Jingshu licked his cheek and snatched the two movie tickets. "Childish, let's watch cartoons."

“President Chen, this is a domestic animation, a movie produced with the help of my senior’s mentor.” Zhang Jiale said calmly, then immediately looked at Lin Yujing with a complaining expression, “Senior, President Chen and we really can’t talk to each other.”

The two chatted back and forth, while Lin Yujing crossed her arms, wishing she could just disappear and let them fight it out on their own.

This time, Chen Jingshu deliberately ignored Zhang Jiale and went straight to the ticket counter with the two movie tickets, saying, "Hello, please help me choose a ticket for these two seats."

The ticket seller opened the ballot box and replied, "I'm sorry, sir, the seats on both sides have already been purchased."

Chen Jingshu turned around and saw Zhang Jiale looking at the seat selection window on his phone. He noticed that all the seats around him were marked as red, and waved to him with a smug look on his face. "Mr. Chen, you can go home and rest by yourself."

Chen Jingshu frowned and pointed to the last seat in the corner. "I want this one."

After getting the tickets, Chen Jingshu returned to the two of them and directly handed the private seat to Zhang Jiale, saying, "Little boy, be good and see for yourself."

"How can you be so unreasonable?" Zhang Jiale was so angry that his face turned ashen.

"Little kid, I'm standing right here. If we're not going to talk about reason or morality, this is home intrigue, you understand?" Chen Jingshu replied coldly, expressionless.

“First of all, you two have to be boyfriend and girlfriend for me to be considered a third party,” Zhang Jiale said, reaching for the movie tickets he had booked. “Right now, we’re just competitors.”

Chen Jingshu, who was a full head taller than Zhang Jiale, raised his arm as if deliberately teasing a child, "Alright, kid. If you know us, you'll say we're classmates out having fun together; if you don't, you'll think you're celebrating the holiday with your parents."

You're annoying!

"The same to you!"

Lin Yujing was completely exasperated by the two of them. She frowned, pulled Chen Jingshu's arm, snatched the three tickets, picked out the single seat, and gave the two adjacent seats to the two of them.

"Alright, it's decided then. If you keep making a fuss, I won't watch anymore." Lin Yujing said coldly, finally calming this childish argument.

It was just time to check tickets, and she joined the queue without looking back.

When Chen Jingshu and Zhang Jiale tried to take their place behind her, they were stopped by other girls who said, "You two handsome guys, please line up."

And so, Lin Yujing didn't glance at the two of them again until she was seated.

The animated comedy films released during the Spring Festival holiday season had an exceptionally cheerful tone, filling the entire screening room with bursts of laughter.

Watching the two protagonists, one in red and one in blue, outwit and outmaneuver each other, Lin Yujing's excitement was ignited. She even unconsciously followed the crowd to find the two who had just been arguing in front of her.

Sure enough, even when she wasn't around, the two of them were still fighting over the same bucket of popcorn.

He showed absolutely none of the shrewdness he displayed in the business world or the genius prodigy in the scientific research field.

Lin Yujing looked away and focused her attention back on the movie.

The core of comedy has always been tragedy, and as the plot is gradually pushed to its climax, the tragic side is also revealed to the audience.

Lin Yujing's nose tingled with a soreness, and her tear ducts burst open at the same time.

"Here you go." Just as Lin Yujing was crying her eyes out, a gentle male voice came from inside.

She looked over and saw a stranger kindly handing her a tissue.

Lin Yujing sniffed, took the tissue, gave a slight smile, and said, "Thank you."

After that, the boy didn't talk to her again until the movie ended and the lights in the theater came on. Then he handed her another tissue, saying, "Wipe it again, your eyelashes are smudged."

No girl wants to hear that her makeup is ruined, so she immediately grabbed a tissue and wiped off the mascara from her lower eyelid in front of her phone camera. "Thank you so much."

The boy scratched his head. "It's okay, no need to be so formal."

Lin Yujing first glanced at the empty seats where Chen Jingshu and Zhang Jiale were sitting before walking out of the screening room with the boy.

"Are you spending the holiday alone too?" the boy asked her as they walked out of the hall. "Let's add each other on WeChat and meet up next time."

Before Lin Yujing could politely decline, Chen Jingshu and Zhang Jiale appeared out of nowhere.

The two women stood on either side of her, separating the boy to the other side.

The two, who were just at odds, have now become comrades-in-arms in the fight against foreign enemies.

Chen Jingshu: "Handsome, I'm afraid that won't work. She never spends holidays alone."

Zhang Jiale: "There are too many people who want to be with her. Even if you get a number in line, you still won't get a spot."

Lin Yujing was speechless. She pushed the two of them aside and then politely said to the boy, "I'm sorry, my friend was just joking with you. But we won't add each other on WeChat. Thank you for the tissue."

The boy scratched his head. "Okay then, bye-bye, beautiful."

Then he rolled his eyes at Chen Jingshu and Zhang Jiale before leaving.

Seeing the boy leave, Chen Jingshu and Zhang Jiale immediately formed their own group again.

"Jingjing, the movie's over, let's go home now."

"I made an appointment with my senior today. Mr. Chen, don't you think it's very rude of you to try and steal her away like this?"

Chen Jingshu shrugged and held up his wristwatch to the boy's face. "Little kid, look at the time. Didn't your parents set a curfew for you?"

Zhang Jiale gritted his teeth, "I'm an adult!"

“I thought you were only 16 years old.” Chen Jingshu patted his shoulder with a loving smile. “But your senior has a curfew.”

"The senior is an adult."

“But she lives with me, so I have oversight.”

Lin Yujing looked up at the sky and said, "You two are really something else."

"Senior, school starts the day after tomorrow. You're not going to keep living at his house, are you?" Zhang Jiale's chubby little face scrunched up in grievance. "It's so far away, it's so inconvenient!"

Lin Yujing then remembered that Qi Woxue had sent her a message while she was eating, saying that she would be returning to school tomorrow.

She was thinking that she should move away from Wanxiang and return to the place that truly belonged to her.

"I should be going back to school tomorrow," Lin Yujing said. "My senior's flight is at noon tomorrow."

Zhang Jiale then perked up and stared straight at Chen Jingshu, saying, "Okay, then I'll wait for you to go back to school, and then I'll accompany you to class, have meals, and draw. Anyway, I'm just a young kid, I have plenty of time compared to Uncle Chen."

After saying that, Zhang Jiale turned and left, seeing Chen Jingshu's angry expression.

Feeling pent up with nowhere to vent, Chen Jingshu simply pressed the tip of his tongue against his cheek and unbuttoned two buttons on his shirt.

Are you going back to school tomorrow?

"School starts the day after tomorrow, so it's not appropriate for me to stay at your place indefinitely."

Chen Jingshu sighed, put his arm around her shoulder and walked towards the underground parking lot. "Jingjing, what you said is really disheartening. I wish you could settle down there."

Lin Yujing pursed her lips. How could she not know that the land belonged to the Huaren Group, and only secondarily to Chen Jingshu? "Don't joke around."

"Who's joking with you?" Chen Jingshu said seriously, "If you're worried about the distance to school, I'll arrange a car and driver for you, so you won't miss any classes."

Lin Yujing nodded slightly, "I'll definitely be very busy when school starts again. I've signed a lot of commercial works, and I also have paintings to prepare for the National Art Exhibition and the JING Art Museum. I'm going to Hoh Xil next month, and I'm even planning to live in the studio."

"..." Chen Jingshu remained silent, his expression not very pleasant.

Lin Yujing looked up and quickly coaxed, "I am very grateful for Mr. Chen's hospitality during this time. I am really happy."

Chen Jingshu rolled her eyes at her. "Fine, so you're going to start being polite with me now, huh?"

"Do you think I'm treating you for free? Do you know how much a night at the Wanxiang Hotel costs? Since you're staying at my place, you should at least be charged the same rate as a presidential suite during the Spring Festival."

"You stayed for half a month, and even with our 'friendship price' for you, it still costs..."

Lin Yujing chuckled silently, then suddenly pulled Chen Jingshu close, stood on tiptoe, and planted a kiss on his lips. "Mr. Chen, calculate how much I owe you for the room, and don't forget to add the special service fee. You've made me very satisfied."

Chen Jingshu's seriousness crumbled in an instant, and a smug smile couldn't be hidden from his lips.

He glanced around the parking lot to make sure no one was watching, then picked her up in his arms. "You can stay at the school during the week, and stay at my place on weekends and holidays."

"This isn't a good idea."

"Then give me a proper status."

Lin Yujing was amused by him. "I've never seen a grown man who chases after a girl every day asking for a title."

"Jingjing, I really feel insecure." Chen Jingshu walked along, then nodded and gave her a light kiss on the lips. "Even going to see a movie by yourself can attract a flirtatious woman."

Lin Yujing avoided his gaze, only wrapping her arms around his neck, and said calmly, "That won't work either."

Chen Jingshu stopped, looked into her eyes, and sighed, "Fine, then you wait. Sooner or later I'll make you willingly and actively pursue me."

Lin Yujing looked back into his eyes, her heart trembling slightly, and replied, "Okay! I look forward to the day when I take the initiative to pursue you."

Chen Jingshu was amused by her serious expression. He quickly walked to the car, placed her in the passenger seat, cupped her cheeks, and gave her a breathtaking, tender kiss.

After a long while, he buried his head in her chest, his breath hot as he spoke, "Let's go home."

"Are we going back now? Lele said there's a performance in the square today."

Chen Jingshu pulled down her collar and kissed Lin Yujing so hard that her breathing became disordered. "You're going back to school tomorrow, so I have to make the most of every minute."

"What's in your head..." A sudden, sharp pain from a pecking motion against her chest made Lin Yujing finish her sentence before she grabbed his hair tightly. "It hurts."

“You’re all I can think about, Jingjing.” Chen Jingshu’s chest heaved violently as well. “What kind of performance do you want to see? I’ll put one on for you in bed.”

A note from the author:

Samoyed Lele: As long as I'm here, I will never make President Chen happy!

Tibetan Mastiff Chen Ashu: I guarantee you won't be laughing for long!
