Chapter 226 Exploring the Island

As night fell and the island grew quiet, only the sea breeze howled tirelessly.

The biting cold felt like countless fine needles, seeping into the very bones.

Lu Fan and An Lan nestled together, trying to draw warmth from each other's body heat.

Lu Fan's heart was pounding like a rapid war drum, his chest thumping incessantly, and his body involuntarily stiffened slightly, as if he had been frozen in place.

An Lan keenly noticed his unusual behavior, and a playful smile appeared on her lips as she teased him softly, "Don't overthink it. We're just trying to keep warm. Don't get any weird ideas out of your head."

Lu Fan smiled awkwardly, a hint of embarrassment in his smile, as if his little secret had been exposed.

He slapped his forehead and said with feigned annoyance, "If only I had brought my beloved Kun down jacket, I wouldn't be shivering in the cold here. Sure enough, in this desolate place, only my Kun brother can keep me warm."

An Lan rolled her eyes at him and replied irritably, "Give me a break. With your Aikun down jacket, who knows what kind of mess it will get in the trees in this desolate wilderness. It won't be a down jacket anymore, it'll be a 'beggar's outfit'."

In this relaxed atmosphere of half-joking and half-playing, the tension between the two quietly dissipated, and drowsiness gradually crept into their hearts, and they unknowingly drifted into a sweet dream.

The next day, as dawn broke and soft light gently fell on the island, Lu Fan and An Lan woke up early.

The morning air was damp and chilly, and the temperature was still so low that it made people shiver.

Looking out, the sea seemed to be gently shrouded in a light veil, with a hazy mist swirling around it. Clearly, such weather conditions were not suitable for swimming.

"Judging from the situation, we can't leave anytime soon. We have to wait for the temperature to rise a bit, otherwise, it will be unbearable to go into the sea in this cold," Lu Fan said with a frown and a helpless expression.

After listening, An Lan nodded in agreement, her hair swaying gently with the movement.

Since they couldn't leave for the time being, the two decided to explore the island, hoping to find something unexpected.

They chatted and laughed all the way, their warm words echoing in the sea breeze, as they embarked on this adventure full of unknowns.

Before they knew it, they had arrived at the center of the island.

The terrain here gradually rises, and the slope becomes more and more obvious.

Just as they were about to look around carefully, a huge rift suddenly appeared in front of them.

Its appearance resembled a hideous scar, baring its fangs and claws to tell of the violent upheavals that had once struck the earth.

Upon closer inspection, the crack appears to have been forcibly opened from underground by a powerful force.

The ground split open on both sides, leaving a mysterious space that extends diagonally downwards in the middle.

The two were immediately drawn in and curiously approached to observe.

"It must have been caused by the crustal movement triggered by the previous earthquake," An Lan said, staring intently at the crack.

Lu Fan just smiled and said nonchalantly, "Who cares? Let's just take a detour and be careful not to fall. Let's go look around somewhere else."

As he spoke, he pulled Anlan along, preparing to leave.

Just then, a notification from the Heavenly Dao suddenly sounded in Lu Fan's mind.

Aircraft wreckage found beneath the crevice

In an instant, Lu Fan's curiosity was ignited, like a firecracker being lit, bursting into flames.

The wreckage of an airplane is a symbol of civilization; it might even hold unknown secrets and treasures. He was determined to go down and find out.

His eyes darted around, and feigning composure, he changed the subject: "But then again, what if there's some treasure down there? I'd better go down and take a look."

An Lan looked at Lu Fan's eyes suddenly lighting up, his excitement like he'd discovered a treasure, and sighed helplessly, "You, your curiosity is stronger than a cat's. What if there's danger down there?"

"Don't worry, you can see right to the bottom of this crevice. What danger could there be? I'm just going down to take a look."

As Lu Fan spoke, he stared at the crack, rubbing his hands together, eager to try, wishing he could jump down immediately.

Seeing his expression, An Lan knew that if she didn't go along with him today, he would definitely not give up.

Left with no other choice, she gave up trying to persuade her and said, "Fine, fine, but I'm going down with you."

Lu Fan was about to refuse when An Lan raised her hand to stop him: "If you don't agree, then you're not allowed to go down either."

Seeing An Lan's resolute expression, Lu Fan knew he couldn't persuade her otherwise, so he could only reluctantly agree: "Alright then, remember to stay close to me and be careful."

So, Lu Fan, holding an axe, carefully led the way, while An Lan followed closely behind him, climbing down the crevice step by step.

During the climb, Lu Fan would occasionally reach out and steadily support An Lan, afraid that she might accidentally fall and get hurt.

The crevice looked intimidating, but it was actually only two or three stories deep. The two of them reached the bottom without much effort.

Upon reaching the bottom, they discovered that the space was much more spacious than they had imagined, like a secret hall carefully hidden by nature.

The surrounding stone walls were damp, with water droplets falling from time to time. The "drip-drip" sound echoed in the silent space, as if playing a mysterious melody.

The two began to carefully observe their surroundings, while Lu Fan quietly began his exploration according to the instructions given by the Heavenly Dao.

[Aircraft wreckage found six meters ahead behind a layer of soil]

Following the directions, Lu Fan arrived at the rock formation, reached out, and gently tapped it, but could only hear a dull sound and nothing else.

He couldn't help but mutter, "As expected, what you see on TV is all lies. I knocked for ages and there was no response."

An Lan noticed Lu Fan's actions, walked over curiously, and asked, "What's wrong? Did you find something?"

Lu Fan smiled confidently, his eyes gleaming with excitement: "There's something hidden behind this. Just wait and see, I'll dig it out."

Lu Fan simply turned the axe upside down and used it like a hammer, smashing it violently against the soil as if the soil had some deep-seated grudge against him.

Each strike sent up a small cloud of dust, accompanied by a dull thud that echoed in the cramped space.

An Lan stood to the side, her face full of worry, and couldn't help but say, "Take it easy, I'm afraid you'll collapse this place, and then we'll both be buried alive here!"

Lu Fan didn't turn his head, but his hands didn't stop moving. He muttered, "Don't worry, don't worry, I know what I'm doing. This rock layer is solid. Besides, how can you dig up treasure without putting in some effort?"

As he spoke, he slammed the object down a few more times.

After Lu Fan's tireless efforts, a large opening was finally smashed into the rock strata.

Just then, a shiny, silvery-white hard object appeared before their eyes, like a wall.

An Lan stared in shock, her eyes wide and her mouth agape, as if she could fit an egg inside.

She looked at Lu Fan in disbelief and said, "You were right! There really is something down there!"

Looking at his discovery, Lu Fan wore a smug smile, as if to say, "I knew this would happen."

He continued digging, and as he dug deeper, more and more of the silver parts were exposed.
