Chapter 62 The Sixty-Second Day of the Beginning [First Update] "I won't for now"
Day 62 of the story [First Update]
"What would you do?" A voice broke the silence in the ward, and He Lianzhou turned to look at Yin Yu.
To be honest, He Lianzhou was surprised by the trust Yin Yu had gained in Guanshan.
Just because of Yin Yu's guarantee, those people tacitly accepted his existence and entry, which was completely inconsistent with Guan Shan's rigorous investigation and the entire large and highly controlled organizational structure.
But this just happened right under his nose.
That's strange.
If He Lianzhou hadn't witnessed firsthand how Guan Shan's system operated, he would have thought it was a huge makeshift operation.
Yin Yu closed his eyes and said, "I told you I need time to think about it."
He Lianzhou shrugged, then his gaze suddenly fell on the back of Yin Yu's hand. He tugged at the corner of his mouth and asked, "Were you nervous just now?"
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Yin Yu opened his eyes impatiently.
Then He Lianzhou raised his arm again, and under his gaze, pressed the bed bell.
The man grinned at him, giving him a smile that seemed somewhat expectant.
Upon seeing this, Yin Yu paused for a moment, then looked down at the back of his right hand.
Sure enough, another bruise appeared.
Perhaps the previous conversation had unconsciously tensed his muscles, causing the needle to roll out again.
He pinched the bridge of his nose and then simply pulled out the needle.
He had barely finished doing that when he heard the nurse's hurried footsteps and soft exclamation as she rushed in: "Captain Yin! What have you done now!?"
He Lianzhou interjected with a smile, adding fuel to the fire: "It seems that Captain Yin is really an uncooperative patient."
Yin Yu: ""
The nurse carefully examined the backs of Yin Yu's two hands and found that they were indeed completely ruined. Heaven knows how Yin Yu did it. In the end, the nurse decided to stick the needle into Yin Yu's left wrist.
It hurts a lot to get acupuncture in this spot, and the needle can easily roll off, but it's better than having it stuck on the instep and making it difficult to move around. That's what Yin Yu insisted on.
The nurse gave Yin Yu a final warning look: "You only have one chance left for your wrist. Please don't make me have to put a pediatric splint on you."
He Lianzhou chuckled softly, "Please give it to him. Lest he use up his last chance too quickly."
Yin Yu: ""
Upon hearing this, the nurse looked at Yin Yu and was surprised to find that Yin Yu did not object or refute. So she tied Yin Yu with a bandage to secure him.
She shook her head and returned to the nurses' station. This was definitely the first person she had encountered in Guanshan who needed a splint for an IV drip, and it was even Captain Yin. No one would believe it if she told them.
After this brief, chaotic interlude passed, Yin Yu closed his eyes to rest, looking utterly exhausted.
He Lianzhou, meanwhile, leisurely rested his chin on his hand, looking at Yin Yu's tightly bound left wrist, idly fiddling with the uneven edges of the washi tape.
Yin Yu could even feel He Lianzhou's restless fingers fidgeting on his board. His eyelids twitched slightly, and between opening his eyes to see the other person and simply turning a blind eye, he chose the latter.
Let He Lianzhou do whatever he wants to him; the amount of information he had to process that afternoon had already exhausted him.
Should he agree? He's someone whose life is constantly on a countdown; is he worthy of shouldering such a heavy responsibility?
He even travels between two different spatial worlds. What if the city in this world needs him, but he is not here?
He couldn't possibly be the best choice.
He left Guanshan, voluntarily leaving everything behind. He had once had a responsibility to Guanshan, but he decided to abandon it and leave. From that moment on, he was no longer worthy of being entrusted with important tasks by Guanshan.
Yin Yu took a deep breath, thinking to himself, his thoughts sinking heavily into the darkness.
A week later, Yin Yu was granted permission to be discharged from the hospital and returned to his residence.
Cui Lu and his group originally wanted to visit Yin Yu, but none of them knew Yin Yu's address, so they had to ask Yin Yu again.
“I’m not in Yanjing for the time being,” Yin Yu said after receiving Cui Lu’s call. His gaze softened as he looked at Yin Rong in front of him, and his voice lowered as well. “You don’t need to come looking for me. We’ll meet at the fire station once I’m able to return.”
His mother sat in a rocking chair in the small courtyard, carefully arranging flowers in a vase.
She looked much healthier than the last time I saw her; her cheeks were no longer sunken and thin, and her eyes were much clearer and brighter.
The bracelet is working.
On the other end of the phone, Cui Lu was still trying to persuade Yin Yu to have a get-together before leaving Yanjing, but Yin Yu refused and hung up.
"How should we put it?" Jiang Ping and the others asked Cui Lu.
Cui Lu touched the tip of his nose: "He hung up on me. Your Captain Yin won't be in Yanjing for the time being, so don't even think about it. Let's have a celebration when he gets back to the bureau. But I don't think he's the type to like that, so don't make a fuss."
"Okay." Qian Yingduo pouted, somewhat disappointed.
She had thought that after what happened underground and in Guanshan, Captain Yin and the others would no longer feel so distant, but it turned out that they had reverted to their original state.
She even felt that Captain Yin was further away from them, not just geographically.
"Where did he go if he's not in Yanjing?" Jiang Ping asked, puzzled. "Is Captain Yin going back to Guanshan?"
"Huh?" Qian Yingduo's eyes widened suddenly, then she looked at Cui Lu as if seeking confirmation, "No way?!"
"Don't make wild guesses. Your Captain Yin is just on vacation and recuperating during this period. He might find a beautiful place to settle down for a month or two to adjust." Lawyer Cui rolled his eyes. "He clearly told me that when he can return to the fire station, we'll meet there."
Qian Yingduo breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this, while Kang Xin nudged Jiang Ping with her elbow: "It's you again, spouting nonsense and disrupting morale!"
Jiang Ping chuckled and scratched his head, "It's good that Captain Yin is back."

Yin Yu hadn't felt this tranquility around Yin Rong for a long time, so much so that he wanted to stay longer.
Yin Yu only walked away from Yin Rong when her attending physician appeared.
“Mr. Yin.” The attending physician smiled and nodded to Yin Yu. “Your mother is doing very well. It’s like a miracle. I have never seen any patient with a condition like your mother’s who has shown signs of reversal and improvement. We will do our best to help your mother maintain her current good condition.”
Yin Yu unconsciously smiled and nodded, "Okay, thank you."
He turned his gaze to his mother, where he saw He Lianzhou squatting listlessly beside her, casually handing her a flower with a slender stem. His mother calmly accepted it, even nodding slightly.
This was a scene Yin Yu had never hoped for. Since entering the hospital, Yin Rong's mental state has been such that she rarely interacts with others. Any touch from a stranger would cause Yin Rong to panic and become hysterical.
But today, she accepted the flower branch from He Lianzhou and nodded in greeting like a normal person.
Yin Yu's breathing became heavy.
“She looks like she’s recovered really well,” Yin Yu said softly.
“Yes, your mother is a miracle and a warrior. I believe she has been fighting against what she fears,” the attending physician said. “Now she has the upper hand, and we will make sure she maintains it.”
"Thanks."
Yin Yu responded and walked towards Yin Rong. He stood on the other side of Yin Rong, half-squatted down, looked up at Yin Rong and said softly, "I have to go now, Mom. I will come to see you again in a few days. You will be safe here, don't worry, okay?"
"Okay, Yuyu." Yin Rong gently agreed, raising her hand to softly brush away Yin Yu's hair from her forehead, her gaze focused and tender. "Promise Mommy you'll be careful and stay away from the mountains, okay?"
Yin Yu blinked, suppressing the urge to cry out in his eyes. He nodded, even though he didn't understand why his mother always had a strange resistance and wariness towards "mountains," but he readily agreed.
He was content with his mother's current situation and did not want to force her to say or think anything that might upset her.
He Lianzhou tilted his head to look at Yin Rong. After Yin Rong finished speaking with Yin Yu, she looked away and focused on the flowers in her hands.
"He Lianzhou, let's go." Yin Yu said.
He Lianzhou stood up upon hearing this: "Okay."
Yin Rong raised her face to look at Yin Yu, then at He Lianzhou, nodded to the man again, smiled slightly, and suddenly handed the vase in her hand to He Lianzhou.
"You're the first friend Yuyu brought with her, you must be very nice," Yin Rong said gently.
Yin Yu was slightly taken aback: "Mom? You remember?"
"Hmm." Yin Rong tilted her head, then her gaze fell on Yin Yu's forehead, a flicker of pain crossing her eyes. She said softly, "Remember that Yu Yu was injured, remember that something was about to come out."
Yin Rong's breathing became slightly rapid. Seeing this, Yin Yu immediately interrupted her, saying, "That's enough. Let's take it slow. Breathe, breathe slowly."
Yin Yu observed Yin Rong until her breathing returned to normal, and only then did he feel relieved.
He Lianzhou then handed the vase of flowers back to Yin Rong. He ran his fingers over the budding flowers, and saw the originally closed petals tremble and open slightly, shaking pleasingly.
He bent down and handed it to Yin Rong, a smile playing on his lips: "This is a return gift."
Yin Rong blinked, then smiled, looking delighted.
"Then we're leaving, Mom," Yin Yu said softly.
Yin Rong nodded.
Yin Yu and He Lianzhou turned and walked away, their figures gradually disappearing into the distance.
Yin Yu glanced at He Lianzhou subtly, then after a moment, pursed his lips and lowered his voice, "Thank you."
He Lianzhou raised an eyebrow: "What? What did you say? I can't hear you."
"Get out." Yin Yu regretted saying that last word.
