Chapter 102 The Unlucky Guys Around the Chosen One - The Unlucky Brother is Heavy...
Si Qi has been to many worlds, and the original identities he inherited were basically those of pitiful people who suffered great injustices in their lives and wished after death that the transmigrators could avenge them.
The original owner of this body, however, was the opposite; he was the "chosen one" of this world. Not only was he incredibly capable, but he was also extremely helpful, assisting many great figures who could influence the course of the world throughout his life. Because of this, he was especially favored by the world's consciousness.
Logically speaking, such a person would have no regrets after death, and even if they made a wish, the wish would not be for themselves.
And that is indeed the case. The other party was speaking out for her deceased brother, hoping that this brother, who had suffered too many grievances since birth, could live a good life after being reborn, and no longer be ignored by his parents or ostracized by the world.
The story begins with the brothers' families.
Their parents were a typical husband-and-wife team. After getting married, they went to the big city together from a small rural village and spent their lives striving for the careers they loved. Inevitably, they neglected to discipline their children.
When their eldest son, Siping, was born, the couple was in the most difficult initial stage of starting their business. They didn't have the energy to take care of the child, so they paid to leave him with his grandparents. They could only see each other briefly during the Chinese New Year.
The second son, Siqi, became pregnant unexpectedly a few years later. Because the woman was unable to have an abortion due to health reasons, she gave birth to him.
The couple initially planned to continue spending money to send their child back to their hometown to be cared for by their grandparents. However, the original owner of this child was a child of destiny, born with good fortune for various reasons. By chance, this good fortune earned the couple the favor of their business partners, who frequently invited them and their child to their home. As a result, the couple decided to keep the original owner and hired a nanny to take care of her.
The couple had discussed bringing their eldest son from their hometown to live with a caregiver. However, the amount of child support they were sending back home was too high, which tempted the elderly couple. Unwilling to accept a reduction in their monthly income, they lied and told their son that he couldn't bear to leave his grandparents and didn't want to go with them. The young son, unaware of the situation, nodded when asked by his parents if he wanted to continue living with his grandparents. His parents, not going against his wishes, left him in their hometown.
That's probably why the two children live in two different places, and their differences in their relationships with their parents and their personalities are huge.
The eldest son was ignored by others from a young age, and was insecure and timid, while the younger son was bold and popular, and everyone liked him.
The starkly different circumstances led to the couple's unexpected death in a car accident. Their will stipulated that the company should be handed over to their younger son, who was more astute and better connected with various partners. The elder son, a quiet and reserved individual focused solely on research, only possessed some fixed assets.
Although the couple's actions were based on rational considerations, seeking the most suitable successor for their beloved company, the whole affair seemed biased no matter how you looked at it. The upright original owner couldn't accept this arrangement and, using the excuse of needing to focus on her studies and prepare for the college entrance exam, handed the company over entirely to her older brother. After the exam, she went to a friend's house and spent the entire summer vacation there.
He actually wanted to give his brother a chance, to give him a stable position at the company, purely out of good intentions. But things just didn't go as planned. The original owner, who was only thinking that "Mom and Dad are mistreating my brother" and wanted to prove that his brother was also capable, didn't consider the pressure that would be put on his brother by the company after their parents passed away, nor did he think that relatives would repeatedly harass and cause trouble for his brother because of the huge fortune.
The already somewhat clumsy older brother had to bite the bullet and negotiate business with partners, doing things he wasn't good at, and also had to engage in power struggles with various parties, leaving him exhausted.
So, due to overwork, he unexpectedly died during that summer vacation.
Before the accident, the older brother, missing his younger brother who had been away on vacation for a long time, suddenly had the idea to call the original owner at 2 a.m. As a result, the original owner mistakenly thought that his brother was urging him to come home and take over the company again, so he deliberately did not answer, thus missing the last call with his brother.
After the family members found out about this, they deliberately used it to attack the original owner, saying that the original owner's brother had actually made a distress call, but the original owner had a fight with her brother and deliberately did not answer the phone, which indirectly caused her brother's death.
This caused the original owner, who had lost family members one after another, to have a severe emotional breakdown and be unable to forgive herself.
When the original owner was sorting through her brother's belongings, she saw his notes and learned even more about the grievances her brother had suffered over the years.
The notes say that the older brother was abandoned by his parents at his grandparents' house when he was a child, bullied by his uncle's two children, lived in the worst room and ate the leftovers of his family, while his younger brother stayed with his parents from a young age, lived in a mansion and ate delicacies.
The notes said that the older and younger brothers learned to draw together. During the competition, the older brother won first place and was praised by the teacher, while the younger brother was disappointed because he didn't win. So the next day, someone splashed ink on the older brother's painting, which was displayed on the wall, and replaced it with the younger brother's painting.
The notes say that the older brother was bullied at school because of his rural accent, and his parents were angry that he was not assertive enough and said that he had a problem with his personality and told him to find a solution himself; the younger brother got into a conflict with someone, and even though the classmate who was hit by the younger brother had already forgiven him, the parents rushed to the school in a hurry, worried that the younger brother was being wronged.
Even after his parents passed away, the family company and investments were all given to his younger brother, while he only had a small amount of fixed assets and nothing else.
The seemingly casual tone of his words, each stroke like a sharp knife, pierced the original owner's heart, causing him unbearable pain. The guilt he felt towards his brother became a lifelong psychological shadow, making him feel like a sinner even in death.
He regretted countless times why he hadn't answered the phone and wanted to apologize to his brother, but he could even imagine how his brother would respond when he apologized.
"It's okay, it's not your fault. Your brother did it voluntarily, and the fact that he had too much work was due to his lack of ability. You've never forced your brother to do anything, and you've always felt sorry for him, haven't you? You've never been the one in the wrong."
"It's normal for your parents to favor you. You have a good personality, are quick-witted, and have a close relationship with the children of our business partners, having grown up together. I've never done anything for my family, so it's only right that your parents entrust the company to you. The company can only reach greater heights under your leadership..."
"Although I didn't get much, it's still worth hundreds of millions. There's nothing to be ungrateful for. It originally belonged to my parents, and they can give it to whomever they want. It's not your fault."
"What do you mean by saying that because you shirked your responsibilities, I had to face all those terrible things alone? I deliberately didn't tell you so you could focus on the college entrance exam and relax for a while... Isn't protecting your younger brother what an older brother should do? I wanted to keep Mom and Dad's company from being taken away by others, which is why I'm so busy, not because of you."
The more she could imagine her brother's reaction, the more she couldn't stop crying. Burdened by a guilt that was almost suffocating her, she took over the company's affairs with ease, just as her parents had expected. She quickly suppressed the shareholders and relatives, and for the next few decades, her career developed incredibly smoothly, and she encountered almost no setbacks in her life.
Only his brother's death remained the deepest scar in his heart.
He knew that his older brother had lived in the countryside as a child and was a left-behind child who had a difficult life, so he kept doing charity work, building primary schools in rural areas, and caring about the physical and mental health of left-behind children.
Knowing that his brother was bullied and mistreated by malicious classmates during his school years, he paid special attention to this situation and established a special anti-bullying organization to spread relevant knowledge at all costs.
Whenever a victimized student calls him for help, no matter what time it is in the early morning, he will answer the call immediately and send someone to handle the situation.
Because his brother loved learning and studied a research-related major in college, he also tried to help many people who shared the same dream as his brother realize their dreams. He donated money to various research institutes without expecting anything in return, indirectly leading to the birth of countless influential studies.
Thus, the "Child of the World," favored by the world's consciousness, was born. Throughout his life, he saved countless people, except for his brother, most of whom were great figures who would make enormous contributions to the world.
Even though he was praised as a saint by the whole world, the original owner still felt guilty and indebted to his brother until his death...
And in this situation, the older brother was reborn. Having been unexpectedly reborn, the older brother just happened to run right into the clutches of the world's consciousness.
Generally speaking, people who die under such circumstances are likely to feel resentful and have their personalities changed after being reborn.
If the older brother targets the original owner after his rebirth and tries to seize everything from the original owner, the world's consciousness will naturally have a reason to take action against the older brother and cut off his chance of rebirth.
However, after his rebirth, his brother's relationship with the original owner remained harmonious. He even stepped in to save their parents, who were supposed to die in a car accident, and protected the safety of his family with his actions.
Because her family was safe and her brother did not suffer from school bullying, the original owner, who would have worked extra hard in related areas, shifted her attention to helping a different group of people instead of the great people who would influence the world in the future, even though she still loved charity, causing the timeline to completely shift.
The world consciousness naturally cannot accept such a change.
Even though his brother saved their parents' lives, sparing the original owner the pain of losing his entire family in his previous life, allowing him to live a carefree and happy life, and ensuring the whole family had a good life, he himself did not die young in his twenties.
But the whole world suffered greatly as a result.
Regardless, the original owner's dedication to charity stemmed from his brother's death. Now, his brother's rebirth has altered the original trajectory of fate, indirectly causing the world, which should have been thriving, to miss its chance to take off due to this butterfly effect.
This drives the world consciousness crazy.
His first instinct was to prevent his brother's rebirth and to make him die on that day when he was young.
But... even the world's consciousness has to make some sense.
It's not unusual for a world to have reborn individuals. The vast majority of people in this world are ordinary, and if an ordinary person is reborn, they will most likely remain an ordinary person. This has nothing to do with the overall direction of the world, and the world's consciousness won't pay special attention to it.
However, she never paid attention to the world consciousness of the reborn, but she became obsessed with her brother who was extremely fond of the chosen one. She wanted to erase her brother's chance to be reborn, so that her brother would live in the neglect of his parents and grandparents from childhood, just like in the original timeline, and die suddenly in his twenties.
...This behavior is truly unethical.
In the original timeline, the world consciousness benefited greatly because of the original owner.
The greatest pain in the original owner's life, the part he could never forgive himself for even in death, was that his brother suffered too much injustice because of him, and ultimately died young.
Even the original owner's later enthusiasm for charity was influenced by his brother. Strictly speaking, his brother could also be considered a "benefactor" of the world consciousness, or rather, half a "child of the world".
However, the world's consciousness, ignoring the numerous reborn individuals, specifically targeted only the older brother. Not only did it extinguish his chance to save himself, but it also used his death and the lifelong shadow in the original owner's mind to achieve its own goals.
If the original owner knew that because he was too capable and had helped too many people, the world would not allow his brother to live peacefully and that his brother was destined to suffer so much pain so that he would take the initiative to do good deeds after being greatly affected—would he go crazy? Would he harbor resentment?
Even though the existence of the world consciousness is for the purpose of making the world develop better, and everything should prioritize the development of the entire world, it is clear that its action of erasing its brother's rebirth was wrong.
But if we don't erase them, what about those great people whose fates should have been changed, and those hundreds of millions of people who should have had a better life?
Just as the world consciousness was hesitating about its choice, the Quick Transmigration Bureau notified it that a quick transmigrator wanted to enter its world. It could choose one person to make a deal with the Bureau, granting them one wish in exchange for the right to use their body. In return, the quick transmigrator would use that body to help the world develop better while the body was still alive.
This was a once-in-a-millennium opportunity, and the world's consciousness immediately thought of its chosen one, entrusting this precious opportunity to him.
The chosen one, who had died of old age and was now just a soul, chose to make the deal without hesitation after understanding the whole story.
He couldn't wait to make a wish: "I want to apologize to my brother! I want my brother to be happy for the rest of his life, and for my family to be healthy and safe!"
He lived a long life, helping countless people. He accomplished everything he could and wanted to do while he was alive, relying on his own strength. Apart from his family members who died prematurely, he had no regrets.
The world consciousness was not at all surprised by this answer. It briefly explained the situation of its brother's rebirth to the chosen one and asked, "When do you want to apologize to your brother?"
Is it the older brother who lived with him for over ten years before their parents' car accident but doesn't remember making a "call for help" before his death; or the older brother who retains memories of death and is "disheartened" after being reborn; or the older brother who knows nothing and is still an innocent boy who has not suffered any hardships—this is a matter of world consciousness deciding whether or not to let the older brother be reborn.
If you want to apologize and make someone happy, choosing the older brother who was just a child before being reborn is the easiest option, since the other person hasn't experienced too much hardship and has no grudges against the younger brother related to death.
But the chosen one of destiny is clearly not someone who would seek convenience.
“Rebirth is my brother’s opportunity, and I don’t want to cause him to lose this opportunity.” The original owner said directly, “Even if I personally feel that that period of life was very painful for my brother, it may not be his opinion. I have no right to unilaterally erase something important to him without his permission.”
Even though the notebook recorded much of his brother's pain, the notebook doesn't represent a person's entire life. In his memory, his brother was always gentle and beautiful, like moonlight, silent yet bright and pure. They would laugh and high-five in the kitchen over a delicious dessert they made together, chase each other playfully in the amusement park, and diligently write at their desks, studying late into the night for exams, jumping and skipping with their dream university acceptance letters... These were all his brother's past experiences, the life he had carefully cultivated and personally lived.
If all of this is erased, what's the difference between that and directly killing the brother who lived with him for many years? Wouldn't they both just disappear into the river of time?
"Can I apologize to my reborn brother?" the original owner said. "The brother who lived with me for over ten years, the one I hung up on..."
This way, he could not only apologize to his brother in person, but also give his brother enough opportunities to make up for past regrets and give his brother a completely different childhood.
World Consciousness: "Okay, but we need to discuss this with the transmigrator."
A personal apology would inevitably require using the body for a period of time, infringing on the rights of a transmigrator. Many transmigrators are impatient with such hassles; their work efficiency is extremely high, and they'll immediately feign death and leave the small world after finishing their business. If the original owner of the body's wish is too troublesome, they'll simply switch to another owner to fulfill that wish.
Thus, Si Qi had the rare opportunity to come before the world consciousness and the original owner, and to meet the original owner face to face.
After hearing the details, Si Qi readily agreed: "No problem!"
After saying that, he suggested, "You are a child of the world and have made great contributions to this world. It would be a pity to exchange this opportunity for an apology. You can also wish to be reborn as a family with your parents and siblings in the next life. Isn't that what you want most?"
The original owner was overjoyed at the unexpected opportunity and thanked them profusely. She then traveled through time and space with Si Qi, arriving at the point in time when her brother, Si Ping, had just been reborn.
At this time, the original owner was just in elementary school, and his older brother had not yet been taken back by his family and was still in junior high school in his hometown.
Si Qi dropped his schoolbag and took out his phone to call his parents.
This action made his heart race, his blood flow rapidly, and a surge of tension, excitement, and intense longing welled up inside him, almost to the point of tears.
Seeing this, Si Qi simply handed over the right to use the body to the original owner temporarily, fulfilling his wish.
"Hello? Mom? Mom, where are you now? I want to see you and Dad." The child's hoarse, sobbing voice broke out uncontrollably. A gentle female voice came from the other end of the phone, "What's wrong, baby? Are you in a bad mood? Do you miss Mom?"
After speaking, her gentle voice changed, as if she were instructing someone next to her, using concise and efficient words to give instructions on company affairs, sounding very busy.
Original owner: "Um, there are some things I need to discuss. Can you come back now?"
In his childhood memories, his parents rarely came home, and even when they did, it was after they had already gone to bed. The family rarely had a chance to reunite.
But since he brought it up, his mother wouldn't refuse. Without even thinking, she agreed: "Of course, baby. Mommy and Daddy will be back soon. Can you wait at home for a while, baby?"
Original owner: "Okay, I'll wait for you at home."
After saying that, he hung up the phone, took a deep breath, wiped away the tears that had fallen without his noticing, and sat obediently on the sofa in the living room.
Si Qi took the opportunity to look up information about the original owner's family, wanting to know what the family members were like. If the parents were particularly biased towards the younger son, should they try to make up for it by letting the older brother feel the love of the family?
It turns out, well... no wonder the older brother still chose to save their parents and maintain a harmonious relationship with his younger brother even after being reborn... these parents are a complicated story. They're not particularly good, but they're not particularly bad either.
For example, right now, after the original owner made the phone call, he waited for more than five hours before his parents, who said they were "coming home soon," arrived—which was indeed more than two hours earlier than his usual workday.
Because it was a reunion after decades, as soon as the couple appeared at the living room door, the original owner could not control her emotions, ran out, and threw herself into her parents' arms, bursting into tears.
From the original owner's perspective, this was a miracle that was finally fulfilled only after transcending life and death.
The parents, unaware of what was happening, instinctively picked him up and comforted him.
"What's wrong, baby? Why are you crying all of a sudden?"
The original owner buried his head in his parents' arms. The sudden death in his previous life had left him unable to let go: "Mom, Dad, I miss you so much... I love you so much."
"Silly child..." His parents carried him to the sofa and gently wiped away the tears from the corners of his eyes: "Mom and Dad love you the most too."
"Waaah..."
The original owner hugged his parents tightly. The word "most" brought him back to his senses from his reverie of the long-awaited reunion. He choked out, "Brother... I need to find my brother..."
In his memory, it was around this time that he asked his parents to bring his older brother, who lived in their hometown, back to live with them.
And as long as he brings it up, his parents won't disagree—it's just that the results might be less than ideal occasionally.
"Mom and Dad, I want to see my brother! I want to see him right now!"
"Now?" Not knowing why their son suddenly brought up his older brother who lived far away in their hometown, Mr. and Mrs. Si hesitated and said, "It's not convenient right now. How about later, when you have a vacation?"
"No... I want to see my brother now," the original owner sobbed, "please."
The word "beg" was hardly used here. Si's parents, who had never been pleaded with like this by their child, immediately softened.
"Okay, let's go now."
"Don't call Grandpa and Grandma, we'll do it secretly," Si Qi added as he ran out at the right moment.
“No problem,” the parents agreed without hesitation.
Meanwhile, in Si Qi's hometown.
Si Ping, who was packing his schoolbag in the classroom, suddenly stopped breathing, as if he were the last breath of a dying person. His chest heaved violently, and his eyes were filled with fear.
The sudden noise startled the students next to him. The people around him stared at him as if he were crazy. Seeing that he was pale and looked like he was about to die, they sneered and winked at him with their friends, making disgusted faces.
Si Ping ignored his classmates' reactions, looking around at the familiar yet unfamiliar environment with a blank expression. Looking at his still tender and thin palms, he couldn't help but touch his face.
What's wrong with him?
I was just at home in Jiang Province... Was I asleep and dreaming?
After packing his schoolbag in a daze, Si Ping walked out of the classroom as if in a dream and onto the wide, flat cement road.
In his memory, this road was built by his parents after they became wealthy, with money donated to the village. Not only that, they also donated about two or three million yuan to build the village ancestral hall, senior center, fitness square, and other similar facilities.
As a child, he knew nothing of these things, and no one around him told him. He only knew that his family suddenly became rich one day, and many people came to congratulate his grandparents. His uncle and aunt also gained great prestige in the village and enjoyed good food and drink every day.
All this excitement had nothing to do with him, who was still in elementary school at the time. He was still the parasite his grandparents called an unwanted child. It was only thanks to the kindness of his grandparents and uncle that he was able to live in the village and avoid starving to death.
To him, who was already an adult, these words had many flaws, but to him, who grew up in the countryside and was exposed to this kind of brainwashing education, they were undoubtedly the truth.
Even after his parents took him home, he believed this for a long time, feeling that he was an unwanted child, inferior to his clever and quick-witted younger brother, and out of place among the rich and powerful children around him.
Why would I suddenly dream about these things?
Si Ping thought, he is already an adult and has the ability to support himself, so why should he care about these things?
I walked home with my schoolbag on my back. My grandparents were there, sitting in the yard basking in the sun.
When he pushed the door open and walked in, the two elderly people acted as if they saw air, without any reaction.
He paused for a moment, unsure whether he should greet the person in his dream, and then hesitated before going to his "room".
A familiar voice of discontent rang out behind him: "Where are your eyes?"
"He didn't even say hello when he got home. He has no manners at all."
Si Ping: "..." The details of this dream are quite realistic.
"Dad, Mom, dinner's ready!" Aunt's voice rang out from the kitchen as she called out to the two children upstairs, "Come down and eat!"
"They're here!" My older cousins ran downstairs, their voices brimming with excitement: "Are there lobsters today?"
"Yes!" Auntie's cheerful voice was particularly loud: "It was just flown in from Australia, it's very fresh, you should eat more later!"
Grandparents: "Where's Qingshan's dad? Call him and tell him to come home for dinner."
"I've hit the horn, I'm almost home."
The family went to the restaurant in a lively atmosphere, but no one invited Si Ping to eat there as well.
Si Ping was used to all of this, so he went back to his room and sat blankly on the bed.
"...This dream feels so real," he thought, touching the rough, cheap bed sheet.
When his stomach started growling, it felt even more real.
"Could this not be a dream?" Si Ping hesitated for a moment, then pinched his thigh hard. The next second, he jumped up with a yelp, clutching his thigh and contorting his face: "Ouch!"
Wait, wait a minute, it really isn't a dream!!
"I...I've been reborn?" His eyes widened in disbelief, his heart filled with the joy of winning the grand prize: "I can be reborn too?"
Si Ping, who had been unlucky his whole life, couldn't help but mutter to himself, "How could I be reborn? Did I die? How did I die? I don't feel anything at all. What time is it? Am I still in junior high school? Am I not home yet?"
He muttered to himself, trying to check the time, but realized he didn't have a phone. So he rummaged through his schoolbag to see his grade in his textbook and figure out what year he was in.
"So, when the semester ends, Xiao Qi will miss me and want to go back?" Si Ping smiled brightly: "Xiao Qi is only a few years old, it's been so long since I've seen him."
His stomach was still rumbling. Si Ping put down his textbook, in a good mood, and skipped to the restaurant to greet his uncle and aunt.
"Why are you here now?" Auntie said unhappily, "We haven't finished eating yet!"
Cousin Si Qingshan glanced at Si Ping, then took the last piece of lobster meat and began to eat it, saying, "Mom, this lobster tastes pretty good. Call Uncle (Si Ping's father) and ask him to send some more over."
"Oh, okay, as long as you like it," Auntie said with a smile. "As long as you like it, we'll have as many lobsters as you want!"
As Si Ping listened to their conversation, long-buried memories were awakened. Things that he had taken for granted as a child now seemed unbearable.
"Why didn't you invite me to eat with you!" Si Ping said angrily, belatedly realizing what was happening. "And this is lobster that my parents brought for me!"
"What are you yelling about? Are you trying to get yourself killed!" Uncle slammed his fist on the table in displeasure, yelling at the skinny Si Ping, "Do you think we need a bite to eat?"
"Exactly! You should be grateful if you get a leftover!" The cousin licked his greasy lips and smashed a lobster shell at Si Ping's head. "Don't you even know who's feeding you!"
"You're so shameless," my cousin chuckled. "With skin this thick, why don't you cut it off and use it as a city wall?"
The grandparents watched coldly without saying a word, but their eyes were full of disgust as they looked at Si Ping.
Si Ping's chest heaved as he looked at his childhood self through adult eyes, feeling that every detail was filled with grievance: "You've gone too far! What do you mean you raised me? My parents have been sending you child support all along, 200,000 yuan a month! And all the food you eat is provided by my parents—"
"Who told you that!" Aunt's face instantly turned extremely ugly. She and her husband had never told any outsiders about these things, so there was no way the villagers could know. Where did Si Ping hear it from?
Si Ping: "My parents have always—"
"Shut up!" Auntie stood up and slapped Si Ping across the face. "That money was given by your parents to support your grandparents. What does it have to do with you? You're just something your parents threw away!"
When the family saw their aunt get up, they also got up from their seats and surrounded the thin and frail Si Ping.
"Don't force me to kill you!" My tall, burly cousin waved his thick arm, as if he could kill several Si Pings with one punch.
Si Ping shrank back, dodging his aunt's slap. He was both angry and anxious as he watched the whole family gang up on him.
But he couldn't reason with this group of people. Seeing that his cousin was about to hit him, he turned around and ran away.
"...I don't know where he heard that from," Auntie said, standing there with a frown. "Could it be that someone told him something?"
"Who would tell him these things?" the uncle pondered, thinking about Si Ping's unusual behavior today: "Nobody in the village knows anything about it."
"No matter who said it, we can't let outsiders hear it," Auntie shouted. "Otherwise, what would we be?"
The cousins looked at each other, not understanding the inside story, but intuitively feeling that the culprit must be Si Ping.
Grandpa and Grandma rolled their eyes and muttered, "They can't even let us eat in peace! Just like his parents!"
The uncle was still worried: "I'll go out and ask him later to see who told him these things."
"Is he his teacher or classmate?" the aunt wondered.
“No, he’s so annoying, nobody at school wants to talk to him,” said his cousin, who attends the same school as Si Ping, without hesitation.
Children without parents are easily bullied in their hometowns. Si Ping, who was not cared for by his grandparents, dressed like a beggar when he was young. He was dirty and smelly and was not liked by anyone. No child wanted to be his friend.
Later, Si Ping's parents became wealthy, and the child support they sent home increased dramatically. His grandparents couldn't possibly spend the money on Si Ping; instead, they used it all to subsidize their more favored eldest son for household expenses. Si Ping's life didn't change, and his living environment didn't improve either.
But because Si Ping was the only one living in the countryside, his grandparents and uncle's family could send him so much good food and drink every few days, and receive such high amounts of child support payments regularly. Therefore, his grandparents always told Si Ping's parents that Si Ping disliked them, resented his younger brother who was favored by his parents, and refused to move to the city to live with his family. They also brainwashed Si Ping by saying, "Your parents don't want you; they had a younger son in the city and raised him there," making the timid and cowardly Si Ping never even consider going to the city to reunite with his parents.
The family of six had managed to keep Si Ping under control for so many years, but today Si Ping suddenly went crazy and said such things. The family was understandably nervous and wanted to find out what happened.
"I'll go down and check things out with the uncle next door, and then I'll talk to the village chief and the others," the uncle said, "so that the little brat won't complain to his parents that we've mistreated him."
“He doesn’t have that kind of brain,” Auntie knew Si Ping’s situation very well. “How could he know to ask his parents for help without being taught? He doesn’t even know his parents’ phone number.”
When the couple returned and left their number with Si Ping, his aunt secretly took the number slip and tore it up.
"Just in case," the uncle said.
Seeing their eldest son's family like this, the grandparents were in a bad mood, muttering under their breath, "They're such a troublemaker. When Siping had a high fever, why didn't they just burn him into a fool? They're always causing us trouble."
My cousin chimed in, "That's right, everyone was having a great time eating."
"Eating?" Auntie's thoughts drifted from "eating" to the lobsters she had promised to get for her son, and then to the phone call she had planned to make to her younger brother and sister-in-law. Suddenly, she asked, "Does Siping want to go home?"
"Go back to what home?" Before anyone could react, someone said, "His home is right here."
“Go back to his own home!” Auntie said. “Didn’t he just mention eating? Could it be that he’s unhappy because we’re eating and drinking well while he’s been eating leftovers?”
Although the couple and the elderly couple had kept it a secret from Si Ping—that his parents had been sending him child support money to spend as they pleased, and that they were keeping it all for themselves—the two children would occasionally let slip that many things in the house were actually sent back by Si Ping's parents.
Si Ping, who is already in junior high school, must have realized something was wrong when his parents sent him food that he couldn't eat, but his older cousins could. This led to his sudden outburst today.
The uncle frowned: "So that's why?"
This kid is getting older, and he's getting harder and harder to fool.
The aunt was more concerned: "Does he think his parents are well-off and want to move in with them? We can't let that kid actually do that, otherwise, once he gets along well with his parents, he might accidentally let it slip—"
"I understand," the uncle said. "I'll have my parents call my brother later and say a few words. They definitely won't let Siping go back and cause trouble at home."
Uncle Si, so certain of his thoughts, was clearly unaware that his nephew Si Qi was sitting in a car, speeding towards them with his parents.

Si Ping (muttering): I can't remember my parents' numbers, but I can recite my brother's number backwards...QAQ But it's so embarrassing to ask my little brother for help right after I was reborn.
