Vampires exist in books, shows, and movies… BUT IN NEW ERIDU?!
Ellen Joe discovers her quiet classmate Phaga isn’t just reserved—he’s a vampire looking for a job!
Between school...
That night, Pompey and his party did not return to their city. With the Hellfire Riders just around the corner, they decided to set up camp nearby.
But Fagga and Ellen didn't have such a need. After thinking it over, they decided to return to the city of the Triumphs and stay overnight, and then go to the Hellfire Riding Ceremony the next day.
So, it's time to part ways.
Pompey was busy, so it was Lucius, the second-in-command of the Triumphs, who came to say goodbye.
He extended his hand, attempting to shake hands with Fagga: "I'm sorry, Director, we've been very busy and haven't been able to provide adequate hospitality."
"It's okay, I understand."
Even though Lucius's hand had been hovering in front of him for a long time, Fagar hesitated for a long time, and finally took out his right hand, which was tucked into his suit, after a long pause.
It was as if they looked down on Lucius for being a country bumpkin from the outer ring.
Lucius raised an eyebrow, but showed no sign of anger.
[As expected of a worldly businessman from the city, completely unconcerned about the opinions of outsiders; it's blatant prejudice... I'm so envious...]
As Lucius was thinking this, he suddenly felt someone tapping his shoulder, so he looked up.
"Hey, wake up, what are you thinking about?"
Lucius snapped back to reality and looked up to see Fagga's furrowed brows and an extremely impatient pat on his shoulder.
Lucius was startled, his face immediately changed, and he said in a fawning tone, "Oh, sorry, I was a little distracted... Director, you know, tomorrow is the Hellfire Ride, I'm a little excited."
"Really? I thought you had something on your mind."
After finishing speaking, Fagar ignored Lucius, turned around to get into the car, and casually said, "Eileen, let's go."
"Oh, here it comes."
When Ellen heard Fagar's call, she immediately followed. As she brushed past Lucius, she accidentally flicked her tail and hit Lucius's calf.
A collective gasp of astonishment suddenly filled the open field.
“Sorry, I didn’t notice you just now.” Eileen turned around indifferently, staring coldly back at Lucius. “Do you need me to take you to see a doctor?”
"No, no need."
Lucius waved his hands repeatedly. Although the shark tail lashed out with considerable force, causing Lucius to grimace in pain, he forced himself to remain calm and pretend it didn't hurt.
As if the sweat on his forehead didn't exist, Lucius waved goodbye to Fagga and Eleanor.
Soon, the off-road vehicle sped off, kicking up three feet of yellow sand, and disappeared into the boundless wilderness.
A hazy wind gradually blew by, smoothing out the tire tracks along the way, turning the azure sky yellow, and the setting sun shone into the twilight, slumbering in the sea of sand.
Night fell quietly.
"Haven't the class monitor and Ruby gotten in touch yet?"
In the hotel room, Fagga lowered his eyes, inhaling the delicate fragrance of oncidium in Ailian's hair. Due to the day's journey, there were occasional pebbles, but as the night cooled, the air was filled with the scent of moonlight.
"No, it keeps showing they're not in the signal area. Did they enter the void?"
Leaning on Fagga's shoulder, Ellen's face reflected the faint glow of her phone, her cute little nose wrinkling with worry.
With the black and white dolls around, Eileen was actually more afraid of them going to remote places in search of thrills than of emptiness.
It's important to know that it's not just empty spaces that are unreachable; this is the outer ring road, and there are countless places without signal.
"Ask the Triumphs again, see if Ruby and the squad leader have told them where they went?"
Fagar gently hugged Ellen to reassure her and offered suggestions.
“I’ll give it a try… Wow, the Triumphs came back so fast. They said Ruby and the class monitor went to play in the nearby cave.”
Eileen was impressed by the efficiency of the victors, and at the same time felt much more at ease.
With the black and white dolls around, as long as the hole isn't some ridiculously large one, Ruby and the class monitor won't be in danger.
"Okay, now you can relax."
"Hmm, I feel much more at ease. By the way, Fagga, who do you think Lucius's partner in the city might be?"
“I don’t know, but I had already planted a listening device on him before we parted ways.”
"Wow, you're so quick? I thought you didn't keep any, so I kept one too."
"Is that so? Then the eavesdropping work is yours. I'm going back to sleep... Ah! Let go! Let go! I'll stay with you, just let go!"
"snort!"
...
At the other end of the outer ring, the Triumph Camp.
“Brother, this is the new route allocation table. I have already assigned the three extra routes to Kaludon as you instructed... but was it really necessary for us to do this?”
Beside the roaring campfire, Lucius stared at the three routes assigned to him on the allocation sheet, feeling extremely resentful, his fists clenching tighter and tighter.
“If it weren’t for the son of Calydon’s repeated bad luck, I wouldn’t have had to go through all this trouble.”
