Chapter 205 The Night Before the Hellfire Ride (2/2)

Pompey, who was organizing documents, suddenly turned his head and looked back at him intently. He said in a deep voice, "Lucius, what do you think about the fact that Calydon's son has had bad luck over the years?"

"What opinion... what opinion could I possibly have, brother? It was just an accident. It can only be said that the son of Calydon was unlucky."

Lucius suddenly broke out in a cold sweat, feeling as if a mountain was pressing down on him, and his chest felt so heavy that he could hardly breathe.

Fortunately, Pompey quickly looked away.

"Is that so? That's good. Wanting to win isn't a bad thing, but since we're in the position of the dominant force, we should at least have some sense of honor... Lucius, what do you think?"

Pompey continued organizing the materials, and his words seemed to be both a warning to Lucius and a self-admonition:

"Yes, I always keep my elder brother's words in mind."

Lucius nodded repeatedly. In front of Pompey, he was as humble as a chick, not daring to utter a single complaint.

Sure enough, Lucius had just finished scolding Pompey and poured him a glass of water from the kettle.

With his palm down and his fingers pinching the rim of the cup, he placed it on Pompey's table: "Brother, have a glass of water first."

"Um."

Pompey nodded slightly, without the slightest suspicion. He took the cup and drank half of it in one gulp, then, as if suddenly remembering something, turned his head to look at Lucius:

"And I remember you said you came back from the city and found a new business partner?"

"I remember telling you that in business, any businessman in the city could easily bring us down. So we must be extremely careful and cautious. We must not let our guard down until we are sure of the other party's character."

Upon hearing this, Lucius immediately burst into laughter, spreading his hands and saying:

"Don't worry, Brother Pompeo, I have fully confirmed their sincerity. They have never made any excessive demands and are aiming for a win-win cooperation."

"After all, the people in the city aren't stupid. We've kept the outer ring road a secret. Even if they realize this is a blue ocean market, they can only watch helplessly. In the end, they'll still have to cooperate with us for mutual benefit."

"...I hope so."

Pang Pei pinched the bridge of his nose, then turned and walked into the tent.

"I need to rest. We have the Hellfire Ride tomorrow, so you should get some rest too."

"Understood, Brother Pompey."

Lucius chuckled and agreed, then turned and walked away with a cold expression.

The patrolling henchman noticed Lucius's unusual behavior and asked, "Second Boss, where are you going so late at night?"

"Find a secluded spot to use the restroom."

Lucius waved and continued walking outside.

Only the patrolling underlings remained in the wind, completely baffled.

"That's strange, aren't there toilets in the camp?"

The patrolman scratched his head, somewhat at a loss, unsure whether he should report the matter to Brother Pompey.

Suddenly, a shadow enveloped him.

The patrolman immediately felt a chill run down his spine, his heart skipped a beat, and he numbly turned his head away.

In the next instant, a tuft of gray hair suddenly came into view, and the bloodthirsty edge unique to the Wolf-Shallows burst forth from their eyes, captivating the soul.

"What are you doing here slacking off instead of patrolling? Hmm?"

Morse had somehow appeared behind the patrolling underling. Unlike his usual calm demeanor, he was now menacing, as if he wanted to devour him.

Seeing Morse's reaction, the patrolman immediately protested, "No, I saw the second-in-command, he..."

"Um?"

"I'm...I'm sorry, I'll go on patrol right away."

Another cold, nasal sound rang out, carrying with it boundless rage. The patrolman nearly collapsed in fear and quickly ran off to continue his patrol.

"snort!"

Seeing this, Morse snorted coldly and turned back to his tent.

He's also going to be part of the Hellfire Ride, so he needs to get some rest.

Meanwhile, Lucius had reached the desolate countryside and saw two figures, one tall and one short, in front of him. He couldn't help but smile.

"I've missed you both terribly in just one day, Mr. Perlman, and..."

"Mr. Kovi Kunmutu."
