The wind howled, and a few raindrops drifted down. Hong Lun's square face was already covered with rainwater, but he didn't have time to wipe it off.
The sound of horns, like the howl of wolves, echoed in my ears.
They had been on the mountain for some time now, and Hong Lun kept a close eye on the movements there, also instructing his soldiers to keep a close watch on the situation and prepare for any enemy attacks.
Sure enough, the soldiers ahead spotted the enemy forces.
Hong Lun made a decisive decision and immediately ordered the entire army to charge forward, determined to crush the enemy forces ahead!
The enormous casualties suffered at the foot of the mountain must be repaid by them now!
"kill!"
At that moment, accompanied by shouts of charging into battle, Hong Lun, carrying a long sword, galloped away on horseback!
"Kill them!!"
With a roar, he kicked the horse's belly, increasing its speed.
The soldiers around him turned red in the face, veins bulging on their necks, and roared as they charged forward!
On the opposite side, an army had been waiting for some time. Now that the two armies met, the general, his face grim, let out a loud shout:
"kill!"
At a command.
The earth trembled, and the earth-shattering shouts of battle seemed to carry an echoing tide of rage, rolling in and terrifying everyone!
"Rustling!"
Warhorses galloped, and the soldiers on horseback held bows and crossbows, pulling the strings. In the next instant, a dense barrage of crossbow bolts shot forward!
Arrows rained down, striking the barbarian army in the blink of an eye!
But this did not stop their offensive momentum. Those with shields raised them, and those without shields swung their weapons, doing their best to block the crossbow bolts!
Even more fearless barbarian soldiers galloped forward on their horses, roaring with ferocious expressions!
Barbarians are fearless on the battlefield; on the contrary, it is the bloody battlefield that ignites their fighting spirit.
But that doesn't change anything.
A hail of arrows flew through the air, piercing through armor and uniforms, splattering blood and dirt in the air, as soldiers tumbled to the ground, letting out heart-wrenching screams.
But even heavy casualties could not stop the offensive momentum!
Moments later, as the distance closed, the head-on battle began!
Pairs of bloodshot eyes flashed with hatred on their ferocious faces as weapons clashed, flesh and blood flew everywhere, and heads rolled to the ground.
The leading rider, his crimson battle robe fluttering behind him, wielded a silver spear like a bolt of lightning, his sweeping motion snapping the weapons of several barbarian soldiers who charged at him with swords!
The broken blade flew out, cracking the tiger's mouth, while the remaining force of the spear struck them heavily in the waist and chest, knocking down a group of them!
In a short while, that rider had killed several people!
The general's bravery astonished everyone, and the timid ones showed signs of panic, daring not to engage him in battle.
Hong Lun's expression was solemn. Holding his long sword, he roared forward:
"State your name, you who come here! I, Hong Lun, do not kill nameless ghosts!"
The general's face was resolute. He spurred his horse and galloped away, letting out a loud shout:
"I am Wang Ping!"
Wang Ping, like Zhang Yi, was a commander of the Wudang Flying Army!
However, he was the first commander of the Wudang Flying Army when it was first established, while Zhang Yi was the last.
The Wudang Flying Army that Wang Ping was leading was a master of mountain warfare, and was especially adept at defensive operations.
The barbarian army has already suffered heavy casualties from the bombardment at the foot of the mountain. The remaining troops are all remnants, and it would be easy to deal with them even if we launched a proactive attack.
Upon seeing Wang Ping's ferocity, Hong Lun roared and spurred his horse forward to engage in battle with him.
"Prepare to die!"
With a roar, Hong Lun's face contorted with rage as he swung his longsword at Wang Ping!
Wang Ping's expression darkened, and without backing down, he fired a shot straight at the blade!
With a "clang" sound!
The weapons clashed, and a loud explosion rang out. The two men faced off, neither giving an inch.
Hong Lun gritted his teeth, let out a loud shout, and pressed the blade downwards.
Wang Ping snorted coldly, raised his gun and thrust it down, then swiftly thrust out several more shots.
The long sword in Hong Lun's hand was heavy. The previous force had pushed him forward, but Wang Ping suddenly released the force, and caught off guard, he lost half a breath.
Just as he was about to change his move, he saw several cold glints shooting towards him. His heart tightened, and he quickly turned around.
"Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!"
But to everyone's surprise, the spear thrusts faster and faster!
Whether up or down, left or right, the sound of wind breaking rang out, and the cold light was already in front of him.
These sharp spear tips were all aimed at the face or throat, and they came incredibly fast!
The rain was still falling sporadically, but the spear was faster than the raindrops. It thrust out repeatedly, and the swirling rainwater scattered and splashed all over Hong Lun's head and face.
At this moment, Hong Lun's hair and beard were already soaked.
His disheveled black hair was close to his forehead, but it quickly bounced back up as Hong Lun dodged left and right. Under this onslaught, Hong Lun couldn't even lift his sword.
Knowing that he would be shot in the throat if things continued like this, Hong Lun thrust his knees forward, and the warhorse, in pain, immediately buckled and was about to kneel down.
This sudden turn of events caused Hong Lun to lower his body, and taking advantage of the opportunity, he rolled to the ground. At the same time, the long blade swung fiercely towards Wang Ping's warhorse!
"hiss--"
The warhorse let out a mournful cry, its two front hooves were swept off by a sharp blade, and it fell to the ground with a "thud".
Wang Ping, on horseback, was furious. He stomped one foot on the wet ground and thrust his spear at Hong Lun, who was not yet fully standing up.
