Meanwhile, somewhere in the East China Sea.
In the simple thatched cottage, the candlelight flickered slightly.
A group of teenagers were eating cornbread. Although it was New Year's Eve and the reunion dinner was rather simple, the children ate with great relish.
Beside them were some men and women of different ages, some standing and some squatting, all silently eating their cornbread.
In the middle of the thatched cottage, a man is writing with a brush.
He was a man under thirty, thin, with a beard that had clearly not been groomed for many days, and his eyes were bloodshot.
He looks like a down-on-his-luck scholar.
But no one regarded him as a scholar. His sword lay to the side, wide and large, and almost everyone present had seen him behead an enemy with a single stroke.
The knife is sharp and effective!
This scholar-like man seemed to possess boundless strength within him; besides being brave, he was also very learned.
In recent days, he has led his fellow villagers in organizing numerous battles, killing many enemies.
only--
There are too many enemies, and many people have defected to the enemy. After these recent battles, there are fewer and fewer people left.
By then, the man had finished writing.
He picked up the hemp paper, held it high, and faced everyone in the thatched cottage.
His gaze was exceptionally solemn. After surveying the crowd, he finally spoke:
"Look carefully, what character is this?"
Most people shook their heads blankly, while one or two younger men gritted their teeth and spoke up:
"This is the character '倭' (Wa)!"
The scholar nodded and said in a deep voice:
“That’s right, it’s the character ‘倭’ (Wa).
"These are the villains who are currently invading our territory!"
Upon hearing this, everyone's expressions gradually turned solemn, and the faces of the older people were filled with resentment.
The scholar pointed to the hemp paper with one finger and continued:
"Look, doesn't this '倭' (Wō) look like the character '矮' (ǎi)?"
"Yes!" someone answered.
“That’s right, those Japanese are just a bunch of dwarfs!” someone else shouted.
"Even when they jump, they're not as tall as me, hahaha! Last time I kicked one of them flying!"
"A bunch of shorty!" a tall, middle-aged man laughed.
"Hahahaha." The younger children were amused by this and chuckled softly.
The scholar's solemn expression eased slightly, and he continued:
"That's right. The characters created by our ancestors were initially based on 'form'."
“The character ‘倭’ is quite fitting in terms of its form.”
He pointed to the right half of the character "倭" and then said:
"In the past, this character was pronounced 'wei'."
“Look at its right half, that’s the character ‘委’.”
"What is the meaning of 'commission'? It means to obey and follow."
He then pointed to the left radical of the character "倭" and continued:
"Combined with the 'person' radical, this means to obey and follow others."
"This is the principle behind 'submitting oneself to others'."
Everyone looked on with sudden realization, and one of them said:
"These Japanese, they used to always be beholden to us!"
The scholar nodded, his expression turning serious again:
"That's right. Our territory is several times larger than that of Japan, and we have far more people than them. Japan is inferior to us in every way."
"Therefore, as a country that is relatively close to us, they are naturally afraid, and this fear leads them to submit to others."
"That is why Japan has always been subservient to us."
"But--"
His voice grew increasingly heavy.
"But this tiny Japan has never truly considered submitting to anyone; their wolfish ambitions permeate their entire nation!"
"Fusang is a country at sea, but it is just an island, and its size is not even one-tenth of the land of our Dagan."
"The Japanese people occupied this place, surrounded by the vast sea. They suffered from wind disasters, sea disasters, and all sorts of natural disasters. They lived in fear, afraid that one day they would be displaced."
“If we are stronger than them, they will obey us and befriend us. But if they think we are weaker than them, then these Japanese will have wicked ideas.”
"But regardless of whether we are strong or weak, our Daqian is such a beautiful land, how can the Japanese not covet it? They are always thinking about taking over our Daqian."
At this point, everyone present clenched their fists. Even the younger children sensed the tense atmosphere and their little faces tightened. They didn't even dare to eat the cornbread in their hands.
The scholar put away the hemp paper and placed it on the table, then continued:
"Whether it's today's great struggle or the past, throughout history, these Japanese have never stopped."
“They have never given up the idea of taking advantage of me.”
“Every now and then, they reach out and try to see if they can shake us.”
He carefully placed the hemp paper, glanced around at everyone, and said in a loud voice:
"We're going big, big enough, and we have enough people. Just like our totem, we're a giant dragon. And what is Japan compared to us? It's nothing."
"If we stomp our feet, he'll tremble!"
“If we wage war against them, they will lose their land in an instant.”
"So, they are afraid of us too, it's a fear that comes from the bottom of their bones!"
No sooner had he finished speaking than a child whispered:
"Then...if they're afraid of us, why did they still dare to attack us?"
