"ah!"
"careful!"
"Damn it! These guys are tough opponents!!"
Just then, several panicked shouts came from ahead, followed by a series of clanging sounds of metal clashing, and then the screams and thuds of several people falling to the ground.
"wrong!"
Qian Shouyi's eyes widened suddenly, and he sprang up from the ground with a somersault.
He drew the knife from his waist, pushed aside the tall weeds in front of him, and leaped out.
After running for several dozen steps, Qian Shouyi's eyes narrowed, and a layer of cold sweat broke out on his back.
What I saw were several men in black robes dressed in cold clothes, holding curved knives or bows and arrows. They wore masks and covered their heads with black turbans, revealing only a pair of sharp eyes.
At this moment, at least dozens of corpses lay on the ground, and without exception, they were all his own people!
"Oh, a big rat has popped out."
Just then, a man with a scimitar chuckled. He was on horseback, blood dripping from the crescent-shaped blade of his sword, and in his left hand, he held a human head.
As soon as those words were spoken, Qian Shouyi felt a chill run through his body, and he immediately got goosebumps.
The next moment.
With a "thud," the head was thrown towards Qian Shouyi!
Qian Shouyi felt a chill run down his spine and quickly dodged. The man's head slammed heavily beside him, but the blood from the severed neck splattered onto his face.
"Guys, let's finish this quickly!"
"Aside from this matter, I must return to report!"
A sharp whistle rang out, and "whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!" Several sharp arrows flew in!
Qian Shouyi lunged forward, shouting as he dodged:
"Kill them! Kill them!"
The soldiers roared and charged at the group of men, but although they outnumbered the men, they were like children in front of them. No one could withstand a single blow from the arrows or the scimitars!
Qian Shouyi felt remorseful, realizing he shouldn't have come. After exchanging blows, he could tell these men were highly skilled and definitely not ordinary scouts!
Damn it, are all the people under Qin Ze's command this strong?!
Qian Shouyi cursed under his breath, dared not linger any longer, and turned to leave.
"Where to? Back to the nest?"
A cold shout came from behind Qian Shouyi.
Qian Shouyi glanced sideways and saw a man holding a curved sword riding towards him on horseback. His heart tightened, and he took bigger strides and ran even faster!
With the woods just ahead, a whooshing sound came from behind!
With a thud, Qian Shouyi slashed backward with his sword!
With a "clang" sound!
The two sharp weapons clashed together. Qian Shouyi gasped as a gash appeared on the back of his hand, from which blood gushed out.
Before he could react, the scimitar suddenly flipped, and the gleaming, curved tip sliced into the back of his hand!
"ah!"
A sharp pain shot through him, and Qian Shouyi fell backward, his severed hand falling to the ground with a "crack" as the knife struck.
"Hero! Spare my life!"
The pain of his severed hand made Qian Shouyi sweat profusely, but even so, he still managed to utter a plea for mercy through his clenched teeth.
But what answered him was the black robe billowing in the air.
The man on horseback leaped down, his blood-stained crescent blade arcing through the air, revealing a pair of eyes that gleamed with a chilling light.
"Gagaga".
The crow perched on the branch cawed a few times in a hoarse voice, then flapped its dark wings and took flight, heading into the deep forest.
Peach Leopard removed his mask, exhaled a breath of stale air, and looked up at the dim sky.
But soon, he turned around, mounted his horse, and charged towards the remaining soldiers.
——
Night falls.
Above the dim sky, the moon was obscured by thick clouds, and not a single ray of light fell to the ground.
A night breeze swirled around, and compared to the daytime, the wind was noticeably stronger after nightfall.
The campfire in the military camp roared in the wind, and stray sparks would occasionally drift into the air, while the candlelight in the tents burned straight and unwavering.
Qin Ze sat upright on the ground, arms crossed over his chest, eyes tightly closed.
"call--"
A gust of wind blew into the tent, causing the candlelight to flicker slightly, and Qin Ze opened his eyes.
The visitor was Qi Jiguang, whose face was somber.
"Your Majesty, starting in the afternoon, there were faint sounds of thunder in the sky."
"At this time of year, the sky is displaying unusual phenomena. In my humble opinion, a heavy rain is about to fall."
Qin Ze hummed in agreement.
Qi Jiguang continued:
"With the rain getting heavier, the army's firearms will probably be of little use."
"Now that we are on our way, I think we should put these firearms away for the time being, cover them with a curtain, and wait until the rain stops so they can be put to good use."
As soon as he finished speaking, Qin Ze said:
"Can."
"However, if it really rains, we'll have to keep fighting."
“These days, we have recovered a lot of lost territory. The Japanese pirates will not give up so easily. They may be planning a counterattack.”
He paused for a moment, then continued:
"If I were them, I might launch a counterattack while it's raining, but..."
"I just don't know if they have the guts."
As soon as he finished speaking, Qi Jiguang said in a deep voice:
"If they really come, there's nothing to fear."
Qin Ze nodded slightly and said calmly:
"If that's the case, then it'll save us a lot of trouble."
Just then, someone else walked in from outside the tent.
It was a scout sent out earlier who reported to Qin Ze what he had found at the front.
After finishing his speech, Qin Ze pursed his lips slightly, a meaningful expression appearing in his eyes.
