Chapter 379 Waiting for a Rabbit to Run into a Tree Stump

The setting sun was like blood.

The breakwater rocks, covered with oysters and barnacles, were crawling with green seaweed. Miura sat pale-faced on a stone pier on the shore, staring blankly as the seawater churned and crashed against the coast time and time again.

The waves were held back by the breakwater, leaving only the white foam that accumulated and gradually dissipated.

"call--"

The sea breeze was blowing hard, and the fishy smell wafted straight into Miura's nose.

He wrinkled his nose and finally turned his head. What came into view was a pile of corpses, the ground stained crimson with blood.

Despite being prepared and knowing that this scene was bound to happen today, Miura's eyes still darted away when he saw it again.

From the day he was captured, Miura knew this would be the outcome.

But soon, his expression changed, and he stood up abruptly and ran towards the battlefield.

A mighty army is slowly approaching.

Miura stepped over the corpses and jogged to the front of the army. He quickly bowed and said with a smile:

"Your Majesty, as you instructed, we have captured Shawan Port at minimal cost!"

As he spoke, Miura turned around and pointed to the warships moored by the harbor:

"The ship is perfectly preserved and is right here!"

After he finished speaking, he waited nervously and anxiously for a reply.

Qin Ze narrowed his eyes and glanced at Miura's face. Sensing his gaze, Miura quickly lowered his head, terrified.

"Hmm, you've done what I asked you to do. Well done." Qin Ze nodded slightly and walked past him, with the generals following closely behind as they headed towards the port.

Miura remained silent, cautiously following at the very back, but he breathed a sigh of relief, and even felt a surge of joy upon hearing the words "Well done."

Upon reaching the port, Qin Ze looked around and saw more than ten warships orderly moored there.

“Miura, you told me before that Huang Tianwei went back to Japan. How many troops will they bring with them?” he asked, turning his head.

Miura's expression tightened, and he cautiously slipped out from behind the generals:

"This... I can't say for sure."

"How many troops to allocate depends on the arrangements from above."

Qin Ze pursed his lips slightly, a faint smile appearing on his face as he watched the constantly rising and falling sea.

A few days ago, after defeating Ito Sumiyoshi's army, more than a thousand soldiers were captured. During the interrogation, Qin Ze whipped Ito Sumiyoshi to death in front of Miura, which terrified Miura.

After that, Miura told him all the information he had gathered, begging only to spare his life.

Qin Ze understood that some people would give up everything in the face of life and death, just to find a way to survive. Those who are greedy for life and afraid of death exist both in the past Da Gan and now in Fusang.

From Miura, he finally learned why Japan had been able to reach the East China Sea so smoothly and win battle after battle. Before he arrived with his army, they had almost conquered the entire East China Sea.

All of this was due not only to Japan's military expansion and preparations for war over the past two years, but also to the assistance of Huang Tianwei, the son of the former General of the State.

When Qin Ze heard Huang Tianwei, a name that was both familiar and somewhat unfamiliar, uttered by Miura, he felt a slight sense of surprise.

Before being placed under house arrest in the capital by Jin Fengluan, he had heard of Huang Tianwei's reputation on the battlefield. Unlike his stupid, arrogant, and conceited father Huang Long, Huang Tianwei was hardly like his son.

Without a doubt, Huang Tianwei is an extremely intelligent person.

The Huang family was completely wiped out by Jin Fengluan. None of his sons, who were living in other places, escaped. Huang Tianwei not only escaped death, but also went to Fusang in just a few months. He was highly valued by the Fusang people and made the vanguard of the invasion of Yan Kingdom.

"What a talent! Such a person... so capable, yet he became a traitor, and the evil deeds he committed are far beyond those of ordinary people. If he is not executed soon, the consequences will be endless." Qin Ze sighed with a cold smile.

Upon hearing the word "traitor," Miura blushed slightly and quickly lowered his head.

Qin Ze glanced at Miura, then smiled and said:

"Miura, don't misunderstand."

“I’m not talking about you. You’re a pragmatic person who can recognize the situation, which is really rare.”

"If you're like that ungrateful Ito Jun'yoshi, ha."

Dian Wei added viciously, "I would have whipped you into rags long ago!"

Miura nodded hurriedly, "Yes, yes, yes."

"Your Majesty, I only wish that you would accept me as a citizen of Yan. Even if I do not return to Fusang, I will be willing."

Upon hearing this, Qin Ze burst into laughter:

“That won’t do, Miura.”

"I'm going to Japan, and it will be much more convenient with you leading the way."

Miura looked distressed, his head bowed, unsure of what to say.

Qin Ze then slapped him on the shoulder, squinting his eyes and smiling:

"What? You're afraid to go back?"

"With me here, what are you afraid of?"

"Follow me, is there any place you dare not go?"

"Now that I've conquered Fusang, it still needs someone to govern it. How about I appoint you as Emperor? You can be the Emperor of Fusang, second only to me. What do you say?"

Miura was startled. He looked up and saw Qin Ze looking at him with a half-smile.

"No, no, I... I am not worthy to be... the Emperor," Miura said hesitantly, his face flushed.

"Why not? I'm asking you to be the one, and you can't? Are you afraid? Or are you unwilling to listen to me?" Qin Ze still smiled as he looked at him.
