Japan is not too far from Yan. After Emperor Akihito ordered the dispatch of additional troops to Yan, the assembled troops embarked on their journey to Yan by warship.
This expedition involved dozens of ships, each fully loaded with soldiers.
Knowing the urgency of the war, the fleet sailed day and night from the day it set sail, braving the wind and waves, heading west, and was finally about to arrive at Shawan Port a few days later.
This was the route Huang Tianwei had previously suggested; compared to other ports, this port was the most suitable for landing.
The coastal defenses here are old and the troops are weak. In the first landing operation, they had already annihilated all the local troops. Therefore, as before, this time, they still chose to land here.
On the deck, Saigo Ryo, the twenty-two-year-old son of Saigo Jun, one of the three leading figures of the reformist faction, held a telescope and gazed at the coastline.
When he saw the flag flying high on the watchtower, a smile appeared on his lips.
"The port of Yan Kingdom is actually quite decent, not the dilapidated place I imagined."
This was his first time visiting Yan Kingdom, and he was extremely excited. However, as soon as he finished speaking, Yamanakajima frowned.
Unlike Saigo, who had only been in the army for a few years, Yamanaka Terashima, the son of the conservative Yamanaka Takuma, was already over thirty years old. Two and a half years ago, he had participated in the naval battle against the Red Flame Army with his father.
At this moment, he also held the binoculars in his hand and said in a deep voice:
"The previous landing operation should have destroyed most of the coastal defenses here, so why are there signs of repair now?"
"There are so many holes in this row of walls; these are the muzzles of cannons."
As soon as he finished speaking, Saigo laughed and said:
"Is there even a question? It must have been repaired by General Ito."
"It won't be long before this place becomes our territory, no... it's already our territory. What's wrong with repairing our coastal defenses?"
"General Ito is very thoughtful. Haha."
Yamanakajima continued to gaze at the coastline, and said coldly, "Impossible!"
"The war is not over yet, why do this now? We should use this time to commit our troops to the next battle!"
"We should at least wait until Yan Kingdom has completely conquered it before talking about this! How incredibly foolish!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Saigo flew into a rage and immediately shouted:
"Baka! How dare you slander General Ito behind his back!"
"This is insubordination! Watch your words!"
Yamanaka Terashima snorted coldly: "I said it's possible that General Ito didn't do this!"
"Perhaps the people in the port right now aren't ours! The port has already been taken over by the Yan Kingdom!"
"Nonsense!" Saigo Ryo immediately retorted, picking up the binoculars again and continuing:
"See that?! See that flag signal? Only our people would use such flag signals!"
"They are welcoming us!"
After saying these two sentences, Saigo put down his binoculars and glared angrily at Yamanakajima: "Get your facts straight!"
"If Murata and his army hadn't been wiped out, why would General Ito and we have rushed here in such a hurry? General Ito led the new army, and Miura's musketeer unit was far more powerful than Murata's troops!"
"This is something you can't compare to!"
"Ha! From what you're saying, it sounds like you're implying that General Ito and his men have been defeated, and even the port has been captured. Don't you find that ridiculous?!"
Yamanaka Terashima lowered his binoculars and coldly stared at Saigo:
How many battles have you fought?
"Do you think you're invincible just because you have new weapons?"
"War is started by people, battles are fought by people, and weapons are used by people. Anything can happen on the battlefield. With your confident demeanor, you would have died eight hundred times over on the battlefield."
Saigo's face turned red with rage; he was furious.
"Shut up! In this battle, you are still the commander-in-chief! His Majesty the Emperor appointed me as the commander-in-chief!"
Yamanakajima fell silent.
After Murata and his troops were wiped out, the old-school generals, led by his father, could no longer be trusted in the country. In the past, he would have been appointed as the commander because of his greater battlefield experience.
But now, everything has changed.
"Land!!" Saigo shouted.
Yamanakajima couldn't help but speak up:
"It would be more appropriate to send a ship to take a look first."
"It's better to be safe than sorry."
Saigo looked at the harbor through binoculars, a smile appearing on his face.
He tossed the binoculars into Yamanakajima's hands, scoffed, and said, "See for yourself."
“Miura is standing on the port with our men.”
"If I'm not mistaken, it seems that the situation on the battlefield changed after General Ito landed."
At this point, Saigo became even more disdainful and continued:
"It seems that the Yan Kingdom army that defeated Murata has been defeated by General Ito. This is the fighting strength of our new army, which Murata and his men cannot match."
Yamanakajima picked up his binoculars and saw Miura standing on the harbor, followed by a number of soldiers.
Upon seeing these people, Yamanaka lowered his binoculars and walked toward the cabin with a cold expression.
Saigo, seeing him leave, grew even more smug and laughed loudly, "Yamago! Now that we've landed, we'll be coming down!"
"You're my lieutenant, you can't hide in the cabin and be afraid to come out and face people!"
He remained silent in the mountains and went into the cabin.
