The carriages and horses moved forward, with Qin Ze leading the way at the front of the procession, and they soon arrived at the city gate.
After handing over the exit documents, Qin Ze led his caravan out of the capital. As he was leaving, he looked back towards the capital.
"The day you return to the capital will be the day you step down from the throne!"
With a cold expression, Qin Ze left the city gate after muttering a sentence to himself.
A procession of a thousand people marched out of the city gates in a grand procession. Qin Ze rode his horse at the front, and as he looked around, he saw groups of commoners gathered along the way.
These people, though simply dressed, had resolute expressions. They followed closely by running or riding horses.
Qin Ze's gaze sharpened, clearly noticing that these people were all carrying weapons.
These are not civilians, but soldiers!
Just then, a man rode up on horseback and bowed to Qin Ze from afar.
Qin Ze's eyes narrowed, and he hurriedly rode his horse towards him.
Riding on the horse was a seven-foot-tall man. Upon seeing Qin Ze, he immediately jumped off the horse and knelt on one knee to pay his respects.
He was dressed in tattered clothes, his temples were slightly gray, and his square face was covered with several scars, but his eyes were full of tears.
This is a veteran who has seen many battles!
"General! We...we've come to see you off!"
Qin Ze hurriedly dismounted and helped him up.
"General Zhao, please rise!"
This seven-foot-tall man was none other than my father's old subordinate, Lieutenant General Zhao Zhennan.
Seeing this former veteran now standing before him in tattered clothes, Qin Ze could no longer suppress his emotions; it felt as if a stone was stuck in his throat.
He took a deep breath before speaking:
General Zhao, what are you doing here?
Zhao Zhennan, his eyes filled with tears, looked at Qin Ze and said in a trembling voice:
"The imperial court felt that we were too old and were former members of the Chiyan Army, so they expelled us from the army, and that's why we became refugees."
“General, the journey to Beiliang is a thousand miles away. You only have eight hundred personal guards. How can they possibly protect you?”
"Although my Crimson Flame Army has dwindled in number, we old guys still have a breath left!"
"Let us escort you all the way to the territory of Beiliang! Once you enter Beiliang, we will return by the same route. If we follow you into Beiliang, the court will surely become suspicious."
After speaking, Qin Ze was filled with emotion. He looked around at the veterans on the roadside. They were all standing straight, looking at Qin Ze from afar. Although they were not young, they all had a resolute look on their faces.
Seeing these veterans now, he understood that this was their heartfelt gesture.
For them, this was the last bit of effort they could muster.
"Alright! Then I'll have to trouble General Zhao!"
Zhao Zhennan straightened his chest, nodded heavily, and rode away.
Qin Ze mounted his horse and set off on his journey once more.
Qin Ze knew that once he set foot in Beiliang territory, it would be the best time to use his points to train his troops, so he dared not delay and marched at full speed every day.
Ten days passed before the group finally arrived at the Beiliang Pass.
Looking out, yellow sand covered the land, and a fierce wind swept across the area. A pass stood before us.
Qin Ze withdrew his gaze, a thought flickered in his mind, and looked at the system screen in his mind.
Over ten days, I accumulated points every day, and now I have accumulated more than 800,000 points.
Although 1 point can be exchanged for 1 person, having people alone is not enough. You also need corresponding weapons, armor, and martial arts skills to form an army.
But over 800,000 points are enough to build an army of 10,000!
This boosted Qin Ze's confidence; all he needed to do next was make good use of these points.
With troops at our disposal, things became much simpler once we arrived at our post.
Upon reaching the pass, Zhao Zhennan rode up from afar.
Upon reaching Qin Ze, he dismounted and bowed, saying:
"General, once we pass this checkpoint, we will be in the territory of Northern Liang. We can only escort you this far."
After ten days of travel, the veteran looked increasingly haggard, and he also had some wounds on his body.
Along the way, Qin Ze did not encounter any bandits, but he knew it was because these veterans had wiped them out long ago.
Looking up at the Beiliang Pass, Qin Ze thought to himself, "Beiliang, I, Qin Ze, have finally arrived!"
Turning to look at Zhao Zhennan, Qin Ze was moved and bowed to him, saying:
"General Zhao, thank you so much for your help along the way!"
Zhao Zhennan rushed forward to help Qin Ze.
"General, you may go in. We... we should also begin our journey home," Zhao Zhennan said reluctantly.
Seeing the old soldier's grief-stricken expression, Qin Ze stepped forward, whispered something in his ear, then mounted his horse and led his men through the pass.
A strong wind swept through, blowing Zhao Zhennan's white hair into the air. He stood there, stunned, pondering Qin Ze's words, until he saw Qin Ze enter the pass, at which point he finally came to his senses.
He mounted his horse, his previous sorrowful expression replaced by excitement and exhilaration.
"But when the clouds part and the moon shines bright, listen to the thunderous roar of the tiger!"
Zhao Zhennan laughed loudly and spurred his horse on the journey home...
........
Qin Ze spurred his horse and led his men to the city gate.
At the city gate, a group of men were already waiting, led by Commander Zhao Yuan.
Upon seeing Qin Ze, he narrowed his eyes slightly, pondering:
The imperial court disliked the Qin family, and their enfeoffment in Beiliang was tantamount to exile. The General of Zhenguo sent a secret order, which stated that Qin Ze should be eliminated in Beiliang.
If I were to do it myself, even if I killed him, I would probably become cannon fodder for the imperial court. However... there are other ways to get rid of him.
He pursed his lips and led a group of soldiers forward.
"This humble general, Zhao Yuan, respectfully welcomes the Prince of Zhenbei to Beiliang!"
