Chapter 558 In the Twilight of Life

The pain gradually spread from his face. Yan Cheng's vision went black, his ears were ringing, and he couldn't smell anything. He couldn't even feel his body or the passage of time.

'This guy is too strong, I can't kill him.'

'This is the only way we can go...'

In the darkness, Yan Cheng lay on the ground sighing.

Darkness gradually enveloped his body like a thick fog. Yan Cheng's expression was calm as he slowly closed his eyes, wanting only to get a good night's sleep; he was too tired.

Until a certain moment, a voice, both real and illusory, rang out:

"Uncle Yan, didn't you say you weren't going to fight?"

"Yes, there will be no more war."

"But...you're all wearing armor and carrying swords...they went out like this last year, aren't you going to war?"

"This is not war."

"Uncle Yan...you're lying to me. What is this if not a war? It's no different from last year."

"Silly girl, there's a big difference."

"What's the difference? I don't know."

"You're too young to know, of course I'll tell you the difference."

"We are here for..."

With a loud bang, followed by a jolt through his body, Yan Cheng suddenly opened his eyes and saw the bright moon above the bamboo forest.

Then, all the sensations permeated my body in an instant.

The first sensation was intense pain on the face, followed by a sweet, metallic taste in the mouth, then a strong smell of blood in the nose, and finally the clanging of metal from the intense clash of weapons.

The shouts of men and the howls of wolves all rushed into my ears at this moment.

"Huff—" Yan Cheng gasped for breath, and when his gaze fell, he saw the wolf king climbing up from his body.

The wolf fur, which should have been silver under the moonlight, was now covered in bloodstains, and the knife wound on its left foreleg was shocking.

Seemingly sensing Yan Cheng's gaze, the wolf king turned its head and glanced at him, then let out a low growl and leaped out.

Yan Cheng followed the figure that leaped out and saw a figure covered in blood wielding a spiked club, fighting with an enemy named Xiao Yiming.

"Bai Hanzi is here... I was just knocked unconscious..." Yan Cheng hissed softly from the pain, but he slowly sat up from the ground and grabbed the fallen knife.

Then, he gritted his teeth, stood up from the ground, and charged forward with his knife.

But when his gaze fell forward again, his pupils suddenly contracted.

The enemy's knife was being pulled from Bai Hanzi's right shoulder, and the burly figure visibly swayed.

Yan Cheng felt as if his heart was on fire, and roared, "Kill him together!"

Enraged, Yan Cheng rushed over, and when he got close, he slashed at Xiao Yiming's neck with his knife!

At this moment, Xiao Yiming was facing the wolf king's attack. Seeing how fierce the knife was coming, he quickly raised his aching right hand to parry.

With a "clang" sound!

The knife was blocked, but the back of his own blade struck his right cheek. Xiao Yiming's legs went weak, and the wolf king pounced from the left. He had no choice but to press one hand down on the wolf's head.

But the next instant, the wolf that had been pressed down bit into his left leg, its sharp teeth piercing into flesh and blood. Xiao Yiming shuddered, but he used his left hand to draw the dagger from his waist and plunged it into the wolf king's mouth!

In pain, the wolf king immediately released its grip and rolled to the side.

Xiao Yiming quickly retreated, dodging Yan Cheng's follow-up slash. Yan Cheng did not pursue him further, as the dizziness in his head had not yet allowed him to fully recover.

The scarred barbarian was currently leaning on a bamboo pole, his face covered in blood, and his body riddled with countless large and small knife wounds. Clearly, he had been slashed several times by Xiao Yiming during the recent battle.

Now, Yan Cheng stood with the scarred barbarian general, while the Wolf King leaned to the left, his face covered in blood. Xiao Yiming stood among a group of bamboo stakes, holding a knife in his right hand and a dagger in his left.

All three men and the wolf were covered in wounds and panting heavily, and none of them dared to launch another attack.

Amidst heavy breathing, the scarred barbarian suddenly laughed:

"Brother, I thought you were dead, hahaha!"

Yan Cheng couldn't laugh.

He didn't even dare to look at Bai Hanzi again; he had suffered too many injuries and lost too much blood. An ordinary person would have collapsed long ago.

Even with his imposing physique, this terrible injury would likely cost him his life in a few moments.

The scarred barbarian's voice still echoed: "This bastard's skills are incredible. I couldn't even hit him with one blow. He's faster than my brother, damn it." He spat out a mouthful of blood.

Yes, this enemy's skills are simply outrageous. Perhaps only the Barbarian King can surpass him in fighting ability. Yet, such a powerful person chooses to follow that old scoundrel who is on the verge of defeat!

Yan Cheng was furious and glared fiercely at Xiao Yiming.

Fortunately, after a fierce battle, the enemy was also heavily wounded, and he wouldn't last much longer.

Seemingly sensing Yan Cheng's thoughts, Xiao Yiming said breathlessly:

"If you don't leave, I'll have no choice but to fight you to the bitter end."

"The prince has already lost everything. Letting him go won't bother you at all."

Why bother pursuing it to the end?

No sooner had the words left his mouth than a furious curse rang out:

"Fuck you!!"

"What kind of bullshit prince is he! He's just an old thief who ran away with his head in his hands! A cowardly bastard!"

"He can't escape!" The scarred barbarian gripped his spiked club tightly and slowly walked forward.

Xiao Yiming narrowed his eyes, raised his right hand to wield the knife, and held a dagger in his left hand, getting into a fighting stance. He said coldly:

"You don't understand the prince; he's just old."

"Back then, Your Highness..."

Before he could finish speaking, Yan Cheng roared, "Attack together!"

The wolf king leaped out, the scarred barbarian general sprinted forward, Yan Cheng followed with his knife, and Xiao Yiming took a deep breath.

In the blink of an eye.

A fierce wind raged, and Xiao Yiming nimbly dodged the first spiked club that was swung at him. He then used his knife to slash at the wolf king's claws, but could only parry Yan Cheng's knife aimed at his abdomen with a dagger.

The dagger blocked the knife, but the narrow tip of the blade still grazed his chest, and blood spurted out.

Just as Xiao Yiming was about to throw his dagger at Yan Cheng's bloodied face, the scarred barbarian kicked him in the chest.

"call--"

As his body flew backward, Xiao Yiming exhaled a breath of stale air.

But in her heart she thought, "The prince must have already gone far away."

I... probably can't go back.

"I'm sorry, Your Highness."
