It was already the hour of You (5-7 PM).
Although it was already mid-May, the sun would not set completely until close to 7 PM, so the sunlight was still bright, the sky was even bluer, and it was difficult to even see any clouds in the azure sky.
The warm sunshine shone on the sparkling sea, and it didn't feel too hot. In fact, this temperature was the most pleasant time of early summer.
If the arrival of the fleet hadn't caused the seagulls to leave early, this would have been an exceptionally tranquil and beautiful scene.
But at that moment, Lucate felt a chill run down his spine, and a cold sweat broke out on his face. The magnificent naval port in front of him stood tall and awe-inspiring, but Lucate sensed an endless killing intent within it, like a hellish underworld.
Yes, murderous intent!
The twitching of my eyelids signaled danger, and goosebumps rose on my skin in an instant. These people had moved their warships away, leaving this military port undefended. With such arrogance, it was no longer necessary to guess what they wanted to do.
This naval port must be equipped with deadly weapons capable of killing thousands of people!
While it was a deadly weapon, it was also an extremely tempting bait. Because of this bait, the fleet lowered its guard and rushed towards it without conducting any investigation.
But since the naval port was both bait and a weapon, the role that the vanished large fleet played is self-evident.
Lucate, ignoring the cold sweat on his face, hurriedly turned and ran towards the upper deck. His lieutenant, Leto, still chasing after him, shouting, "Marshal! What are you doing?"
Lucat ran two steps at a time, shouting to the sailors positioned near the top of the mainmast:
"Quick! Climb up!"
"Get up there quickly! Check our rear! Hurry!"
Although puzzled, the sailors still used their hands and feet to grab the ropes and climb to the top.
Leto finally caught up with Lucate and shouted urgently, "What's wrong, Marshal?"
Lucate abruptly turned his head, but his gaze swept past Leto's head and looked further into the distance.
What they could see were warships rushing forward like a raging tide, one after another. These were the heavy warships of the Sunfire Fleet and the Federation Fleet. The Sea Lion Fleet on the far right was slightly slower, but their warships were also sailing forward.
It's already very close to the naval port, probably less than eight nautical miles away. At this distance, artillery cannot fire, but at a distance of about five nautical miles, large-caliber long-range artillery is sufficient to fire shells.
This means that the naval confrontation will officially begin in a short time.
“It’s too late…it’s too late…” Lucate muttered nervously, his face pale.
"What do you mean 'too late'? Marshal!" Leto was puzzled when he saw Lucate looking like he had lost his soul. The South Port dock was right in front of them, and if nothing unexpected happened, they would be able to reach the dock in less than half an hour, and most likely, all the soldiers from various countries who had come to fight would be able to set foot on land in two hours.
But what is the marshal thinking about that makes him look so flustered?
Lucate did not answer his question; after all, it was too late to say anything now. They would only realize the Gan people's plot when the battle began.
And at this moment—
Lucate looked up at the sailor who had climbed to the top of the mainmast and was looking out at the naval port.
Lucat was furious. He slammed his hand on the mainmast and yelled angrily, "Idiot! I told you to look back! Not forward!"
"Look behind us! Look at the sea behind us! See if there are any enemy ships!!"
The sailor looked bewildered, but still replied, "No, Marshal."
"When I climbed up, I kept looking back, but there was nothing on the sea!"
Listening to their conversation, Leto realized where Lucat's panic came from.
It turns out he was worried that the large fleet would circle around to the rear of the main fleet and attack.
Leto looked helpless, and his eyes showed even more disappointment.
At a time like this, the Marshal is actually worried that the vanished Great Gan Fleet will reappear from behind? That's utter nonsense!
It's like a pack of hunting wolves leaping out of the forest and fiercely attacking an undefended sheepfold at the foot of the mountain. But you say that the sheepdogs didn't protect the flock because they went around into the forest to attack from behind when the wolves entered the sheepfold, launching a counter-attack.
Is this even possible? Absolutely not!
This means that the sheepfold must be sturdy enough to withstand the intrusion of wolves, and the guard dogs must be stronger than the wolves in order to implement a counter-encirclement tactic.
But how could such conditions be met for a major undertaking?
At that moment, Lucat's furious roar interrupted Leto's thoughts. Lucat yelled at the sailors on the mast:
"Don't come down!"
"Stay right there! Keep your eyes on the sea behind us!"
At the same time, he whirled around, grabbed Leto by the collar, and shouted urgently, "Send the order! Turn around immediately, away from the naval port! Towards..."
He nervously scanned the vast sea behind him, when suddenly a flash of inspiration struck him. He immediately realized what was happening and shouted, "Sail due east!"
Due east is the direction that is both far from the sea area where the previous fleet was located and far from the islands in the near sea.
Faced with Lucart's sudden order, Leto felt that he seemed to be making a fuss over nothing, but before he could even offer any advice, Lucart had already roared through gritted teeth: "Hurry up!"
"Anyone who doesn't listen, get off the ship right now!"
