When will the world be at peace?
Qin Haotian, once a wandering knight, climbed towering mountains, crossed boundless desert plains, visited the prosperous capital of Nanze, and also the dilapidated mountain city of the northern desert.
But no matter where you are, there will always be injustices. The northern deserts are full of bandits who bully men and women. In addition to them, there is a group of foreign tribes who burn, kill, rob, and abuse, committing all sorts of evil deeds. Is the capital city much better? It doesn’t seem to be. Although there are no great evils, even small evils are still evils.
The most widespread evil is war.
As a wandering knight, he could wield his sword to kill villains and infiltrate bandits alone, but he was unable to save the millions of people who were displaced by war and suffering from hunger and cold.
Unable to bear it any longer, he abandoned his sword, took up his spear, and joined the army, determined to end the war with war.
This led to the later emergence of the Crimson-Eyed General. Because his soldiers were all brave and daring, all of Qin Haotian's generals and soldiers were later called the "Crimson Flame Army".
This is a homophone for "red eyes," and the character "flame" is even more fitting. The soldiers of the Crimson Flame Army are like scalding fire, always able to unleash unparalleled power on the battlefield. On the road to defending their homeland, and when overcoming difficulties, they rely on unimaginable willpower. They use knives, guns, and hard fists, using their lives as fuel, burning like flames until the last drop of hot blood is shed.
Do you think that losing your life will extinguish this blazing fire? No! Like a prairie fire, those who come forward one after another will rise to the challenge, making the fire not only not extinguished, but even more intense. This is why the Chiyan Army was able to sweep away the enemy and let the fire sweep across thousands of miles of mountains and rivers.
Within the blazing flames, decayed bones were replaced with new flesh, and only under the embers of the raging fire could one be reborn from the ashes.
As the commander of the Crimson Flame Army, the dramatic change from a wandering knight to a general did not alter Qin Haotian's character; he remained the same.
Back then, it was merely the courage of one man, but now, "In my prime, I command ten thousand men under my banners, and my cavalry, clad in brocade robes, charge across the river." (Note 1)
Despite his continuous military achievements and repeated suppression by the imperial court, Qin Haotian and the Chiyan Army's influence continued to grow. Therefore, even though his rank was not high, Qin Haotian commanded a large following within Daqian. Everyone knew that this Crimson-Eyed General was a true hero, and every battle he fought was for the sake of the people of Daqian.
Therefore, to be able to follow such a true hero and fight alongside him, even if it means burning one's life out, is an honor!
Therefore, the Crimson Flame Army was able to thrive and become the most powerful and formidable force in the Great Expedition.
And tonight, at this moment.
When those fiery eyes came into view, Xiao Changge was terrified, knowing that she had finally met the great hero she had long admired.
Qin Haotian strode in with his hands behind his back, head held high, but his face was stern, exuding an aura of authority without anger.
"Uncle Qin." Several voices rang out in unison, and the Zhang family's two sons and one daughter walked towards Qin Haotian as if by prior arrangement.
Xiao Changge stood frozen in place, transforming from a fierce little tiger into a docile kitten. She timidly clutched the hem of her clothes, her gaze shifting uncertainly.
Jin Jiande, who had been smiling, suddenly tensed up. He stood up straight, abruptly lowered his arms, and stood stiffly on the ground without uttering a word.
Qin Ze rubbed his cheek and complained to Qin Haotian, "Can't you see there's a martial arts competition? What are you yelling about?"
"You made me take that hit for nothing."
As he spoke, he turned to look at Xiao Changge. Seeing her like this, Qin Ze smiled and said, "What's wrong? Little Princess? You've become quite reserved."
Xiao Changge slightly raised her head, her thin eyebrows furrowed, and glared fiercely at Qin Ze.
It wasn't that Xiao Changge was angry at his teasing remarks, but rather that he felt Xiao Changge had no respect for his elders, speaking to his father in such a way. Even if they were father and son, they shouldn't say such things.
Just then, laughter and shouts came from afar, growing louder as they approached:
"You brat, you've only learned a smattering of kung fu, and you're trying to show off in front of the little princess? You're shameless, not like me at all!"
"Ha ha ha ha."
Xiao Changge turned her head and saw that the great hero she had long admired was already close by. He was all smiles, showing a mouthful of white teeth, but his big, round eyes were still red, and there were fine lines around his eyes.
"I'm so sorry, I drank a bit too much with some of my good buddies at noon, and I've been sleeping ever since I got back."
“If the young princess has anything to instruct me on, just say the word, and I will go to the Prince’s residence. There’s no need for you to come in person,” Qin Haotian said, bowing as he walked to Xiao Changge’s side.
Xiao Changge blushed instantly. She hurriedly raised her head, waving her hands and saying incoherently:
"It's...it's okay."
"Is that so? I'm glad the young princess isn't angry." Qin Haotian blinked, took a half step forward, and chuckled softly, "The young princess is quite skilled."
"But my son is a scoundrel. He has a lot of tricks up his sleeve, and you can't gain an advantage by competing with him."
"That punch was good, but it was off target. If it had hit his chin, he would have slept like a log tonight."
"Next time you want to beat your opponent quickly, remember to aim for their chin, hehe."
As these words fell, the imposing figure standing before him, along with those fiery eyes that dared not be looked at directly, lost all its sharpness and edge.
Xiao Changge stared, bewildered that this great hero, who was renowned throughout the land and struck fear into the hearts of the enemy, was so approachable.
His tone of voice was just like that of Song Ma's deceased husband. Whenever he delivered fresh vegetables to the mansion, he would always speak gently and humorously, like a spring breeze. And the Tiger General in front of him seemed to be the same.
