"Your Majesty, all enemy troops have been annihilated."
As dusk fell, the Yan army, having finished their battle, returned to their main camp and brought Qin Ze news that the campaign was over.
Qin Ze nodded slightly, without saying much. The battle ended a little late, two or three hours later than expected. The last remaining soldiers fled in all directions, some of them still trying to fight back, which is why it took until now to eliminate all the enemy soldiers.
Overall, this battle was not only a complete victory, but the Chinese side also suffered very few casualties. The superiority of their weapons was clearly demonstrated, as was the advantage brought by the mobility of the cavalry. Based on this, Qin Ze planned to make the cavalry the main force in the next march.
However, there is still one problem to be solved, namely the massive Macedonian military factory in front of us.
The tactic of besieging the point and attacking the reinforcements was a great success. However, the military factory, one of the targets, was not captured. Since they did not come out, the only option was to launch a strong attack. However, it was definitely not possible to attack today. But that was not a problem. After defeating this reinforcement of the Golgar army, the enemy forces in this area would inevitably be left vulnerable for a short period of time.
With this in mind, Qin Ze ordered, "Set up sentry posts on every road, and expand outwards from here to gain control of more routes."
"Tonight, all troops surrounding the military factory in the east, south, north, and south directions will be withdrawn and gathered here. Tomorrow at noon, we will launch a single-point breakthrough from here, using artillery shells to clear the way, blasting open a breach, and storming in."
"Yes, Your Majesty!"
"But that might cause enemy soldiers inside the military factory to flee after realizing they are outmatched."
Qin Ze pursed his lips and said:
"Their reinforcements are fighting so fiercely with us, these cowards won't come out. They dare not take any risks because they are determined to hold onto this military factory."
"If we launch a strong attack, will they easily choose to flee and give up?"
"But if they really want to escape, there's no need to chase them. Let them escape. They're like a defeated army, they're not worth worrying about. We can just take over this factory."
——
That night, at the Macedonian military factory.
"Sir, apart from the troops still stationed to our west, the enemy has withdrawn from all other locations." In the operations command room, Tacino received the message from the sentries and immediately reported it to Davis.
“Where were they removed?” Davis turned to look at the clock on the wall; it was just past nine o’clock.
"From a distance, it seems the enemy has concentrated their forces at the western camp," Tacino said uncertainly. After all, during this period, they dared not easily send troops out to scout, and therefore could not obtain specific intelligence.
As soon as Tacino finished speaking, an officer frowned and said:
"By 3 p.m., the shelling had stopped, and now they've withdrawn their troops... This..."
Before he could finish speaking, a man leaning against the door of the command room interjected:
"This means that while we were here doing nothing, the Yan people's battle with our reinforcements has ended and the result is in."
The speaker's tone was icy, sharp as a gleaming knife, and his words immediately drew the attention of everyone in the command room.
Harris, leaning against the doorway, had a bandage wrapped around his forehead. His face was gloomy, and he crossed his arms, his cold gaze fixed on Davis's profile.
He continued, "Half a night, plus a day, more than ten hours of fierce fighting. The fighting outside was intense. Our army has been fighting the Yan people for so long. Now the Yan people have withdrawn their troops from outside the military factory."
"Lieutenant General, do you think our army won, or the Yan people won?"
This is a question that doesn't require thinking, because the answer is already obvious.
Davis remained silent, while Tacino, standing beside him, stammered:
"Perhaps it's a temporary truce. I think it might be because the Yan people suffered heavy casualties this time and need more troops to replenish their forces."
"We had no choice but to withdraw the troops outside the factory."
Upon hearing this, Harris raised an eyebrow and said coldly, "According to you, the Yan people suffered heavy casualties, so our army should at least have broken through to the enemy's position by now, right?"
Tacino hesitated for a moment, unsure how to answer.
Harris lowered his arms and looked at the silent Davis, saying, "I apologize, Lieutenant General Davis, I disobeyed your orders two hours ago."
Davis remained silent, while Harris continued:
"Two hours ago, I took a few soldiers out of the factory area and, within the limits you don't allow, explored as much of the enemy's position as possible."
As soon as he finished speaking, Tacino frowned and said, "This is too dangerous! If we are caught and tortured by the Yan people, we might..."
Before he could finish speaking, Harris interrupted him coldly:
"They didn't get caught, did they?"
"Perhaps it's because I brought very few people, didn't ride horses, and were very careful in my reconnaissance that I wasn't seen by the Yan people."
"But even if you are caught by the Yan people, you don't need to worry. Before we left, we were prepared to commit suicide if we were caught. We will never let the Yan people pry out even a single piece of information about the military factory."
Tacino's expression froze, and he turned to look at Davis.
"It's good that you're alright. Did you find anything?" Davis finally asked.
Upon hearing his question, Harris's previously indifferent face instantly turned angry. He unconsciously clenched his teeth, his chest heaving violently, but he forcibly suppressed his anger and tried his best to speak calmly:
