“Impossible.” But his words were interrupted by Harris, who was pale-faced.
He wiped the drool from the corner of his mouth and continued in a hoarse voice, "From the beginning, there was no plan to evacuate. General Dylan's orders made it very clear that this battle will continue."
"But... sir, as you can see, if we keep fighting like this, the pass will be breached sooner or later, and we won't be able to hold it." The soldier said with a long face.
"So what? This is our mission, and I believe General Dylan understands that, which is why he gave the order to hold the pass at all costs." Harris straightened up and expressionlessly brushed the snow off the brim of his hat.
The soldiers fell silent, but Harris continued, "In a way, we're lucky."
"Lucky?" a soldier murmured with a bitter laugh.

Before Harris could finish speaking, an urgent shout came from afar, carried on the howling wind:
"Sir, something terrible has happened! The Yan Kingdom troops have cut in from behind our pass and are attacking our camp!!"
Upon hearing this, Harris almost thought he was hallucinating. However, when he turned to look south and saw the soldiers rushing towards him, he realized it was real.
"What are you saying? How is this possible?!" he shouted urgently, and together with several soldiers beside him, he ran towards the lookout point to the south.
