As dawn was about to break.
"Why haven't they launched an offensive yet?! What time is it?!"
In the rear of the Golt army, Saski was no longer as calm as before. At this moment, his eyebrows were raised, and his face was full of anger as he sternly reprimanded the communications soldier.
Almost an hour has passed since the start of the assault, but the artillery units have only advanced a few hundred meters, resulting in the complete destruction of dozens of tanks.
Faced with Saski's reprimand, the communications soldier, who had just returned from the front lines, was drenched in sweat. Without even wiping it away, he panted and said:
"Sir, the enemy's shells are extremely powerful. Even if they don't hit our tanks, just the explosions nearby will injure the horses with shrapnel, causing them to scatter and flee."
"However, we have already discovered their weak points during this round of enemy artillery fire, and we are currently advancing towards them. Soon we will be able to establish a line of fire to launch a counterattack."
"Hurry! We've deployed so many chariots, yet we can't break through the Yan Kingdom's defenses in a short time. It's utterly shameful!" Saski roared.
"Yes...yes, sir!"
"Go, go tell them immediately that if they don't want the casualties to continue, they should charge straight in. Only by firing artillery shells can we suppress the firepower of the Yan Kingdom and reduce casualties!"
"Yes, sir, I'll go right away!" The communications soldier hurriedly left.
After he left, Leo, who was still furious, said to Saski, "Sir, the casualties are rising rapidly. Should we...?"
Before he could finish speaking, Saski interrupted him angrily:
“Philip and Halson’s troops are putting pressure on the Yan people on the flank. I believe the Yan people will soon have to redeploy their forces from the front line to defend.”
"We just need to keep launching a fierce attack. Once we break through the front, the Yan people won't be able to defend themselves anywhere. They'll be thrown into chaos and we'll surround them in Pariston and annihilate them all!"
At this point, Saski held up three fingers and said loudly to the apprehensive Leo:
Three hours!
"This battle can be over in three hours! I guarantee it!"
"Yes, sir," Leo replied in a low voice.
An hour later.
"Sir! General Phil has sent an urgent report!" The communications soldier, sweating profusely and looking flustered, rushed over with the new battle report.
Saski, who had been anxiously awaiting news from the flanks, immediately pressed for answers:
"How's it going? Have you made it into Pariston yet?!"
"No, sir!"
The communications soldier had barely finished speaking when Saski grabbed him by the collar, followed by a furious roar:
"What? They haven't even breached Pariston yet?!"
The communications soldier hurriedly reported, "The enemy's artillery bombardment is fierce, making it difficult for our troops to break through. General Phil ordered the attacking forces to strike from multiple directions, but the enemy's dense firepower has prevented us from advancing smoothly, resulting in heavy casualties."
"General Phil believes that continuing the attack will cause irreparable damage and that it is very likely that a breakthrough will not be achieved until the very end. He has asked you whether a withdrawal is necessary."
"What?!" Saski stared at his single eye, fine red blood vessels gradually filling the eyeball.
The failure to break through the enemy's flank within the agreed time had already angered Saski, but the request for withdrawal almost made him explode with rage.
"What nonsense is he spouting?! What do you mean he can't complete the breakthrough and wants to retreat?!"
"Then all the casualties we suffered before were for nothing to the Yan Kingdom?! Bastard! How dare he say such a thing!" Saski shouted angrily, spittle flying everywhere.
Leo, his brow furrowed, realized that the pressure on the flank forces had exceeded expectations, and he immediately advised:
"Sir, General Phil has assessed the flank battle, and he said..."
"Shut up!" Saski shouted without turning his head, still glaring at the communications soldier, and then angrily said:
"Take my orders with you!"
"Let him continue his assault. If he really can't break through, then he has to put pressure on the Yan people from the flank!"
"Yes, sir!" the communications soldier nodded quickly.
"Hurry up and go!" Saski kicked the communications soldier, who scrambled out of the room.
Not long after, a communications soldier returning from the front lines brought a message.
"Sir! Our troops have achieved suppression of the enemy's positions!" The communications soldier exclaimed excitedly. Saski, who had already assessed the situation by observing the battle, relaxed considerably after confirming that the frontline battle report matched his assessment.
Twenty minutes ago, the artillery units had already begun deploying counter-fire lines. Although this exceeded the time he requested, it was still accomplished. Now that the artillery units were able to suppress the enemy, the complete capture of that position was not far off.
"It has to be from the front, and I have to personally direct it, for a breakthrough to be achieved," Saski said with a sigh.
Leo remained tense, because this breakthrough had already cost the artillery corps a heavy price. Although they had a large force, if they continued to suffer such casualties, even more troops would be exhausted.
Now he only hoped that Halson's army, which had yet to send back any news, would bring good news.
Just a few minutes later, the belated battle report from the northern troops finally arrived.
"Sir! Our troops are about to make a breakthrough! We expect to enter Pariston within an hour and shatter the Yan Kingdom's defenses from within!" the communications soldier who rushed back reported.
