A gust of wind rises, and the horse's hooves gallop—
With a neighing warhorse and a heart full of rage, Cha Yuanzhen smashed through the crowd. His long spear swung with fierce force, and with each swing, a soldier fell from his horse.
Cha Yuanzhen is forty-eight years old this year. He has fought on the battlefield for decades, but back then he was just an unknown tribesman on this vast grassland.
Through years of fighting, from east to west and from south to north, they established the reputation of the strongest Hu horse army on the Beiku Grassland.
Three of his four sons died on the grasslands during these years of fighting, and another son died in a battle with Da Gan.
Even though he was all alone, it did not diminish his ambition to dominate the grasslands and seize great power.
During the two years after the Chiyan Army was disbanded, he worked tirelessly to recruit soldiers and train them, resulting in an unprecedented increase in his military strength, which fueled his growing ambition.
A month ago, he led his army into Julu Pass, and then massacred the city for three days, killing all the men, women and children.
Those soldiers who were fighting were nothing more than ants in his eyes, not even worth a single blow.
But now, this ambition, or rather, this dream, is gradually being shattered under the iron heel of the enemy.
The opposing army was sweeping across the battlefield with overwhelming force, and the Hu cavalry fell one after another.
The sounds of fighting, wailing, painful groans, and desperate sighs flooded Cha Yuanzhen's ears like a tide.
He could not pretend not to hear, so he roared and swung his spear at the general opposite him.
"Bang!"
The sounds of clashing weapons interrupted the cacophony of noises, and sparks flew through the air.
Yue Fei's somber face came into Cha Yuanzhen's view.
This enemy is skilled in martial arts and has excellent marksmanship; he is a formidable warrior.
After the first strike, Cha Yuanzhen gritted his teeth and, taking advantage of his height, thrust out another spear from above. This spear was as fast as lightning, leaving only a blur.
Yue Fei's face was ashen. He kicked the horse's belly with his right foot and pulled the reins with his left hand. The warhorse, in pain, bolted to the left. Yue Fei dodged the spear, but the spear still pierced the horse.
The warhorse let out a painful neigh, its forelegs buckling as Yue Fei suddenly straightened up and thrust his spear out with a backhand motion.
The shot came just as fast. Cha Yuanzhen realized the danger and hurriedly pulled on the reins, but unexpectedly the shot spun around and pierced the face of the horse he was riding.
"hiss."
The spear tip pierced the horse's eye, pulverizing its brain.
Almost simultaneously, with a loud "bang," both warhorses collapsed.
Neither of them spoke, but after standing still, they thrust out several spears in succession, like needles clashing against wheat awns, the clash of their spears producing a series of metallic sounds.
His breathing became heavy, and Cha Yuanzhen's eyes, as sharp as a falcon's, were filled with solemnity. He dared not underestimate his opponent.
The next instant, Cha Yuanzhen stepped forward, straightened his upper body, and then flicked his spear, performing a flourish as he thrust it toward Yue Fei.
Yue Fei raised an eyebrow and used the same move, and for a moment it was difficult to determine who was better.
In the midst of the fierce battle, a scream suddenly came from the surrounding area.
However, the Hu general who fought against Huo Qubing was stabbed off his horse by a spear. He clutched his neck, blood gushing from it, and his face was deathly pale.
Cha Yuanzhen's eyes widened suddenly, and anger surged within him.
But in that moment of distraction, Yue Fei seized the opportunity and thrust his spear into his arm.
With a "thud," the spear moved like lightning, instantly piercing through Cha Yuanzhen's arm!
Cha Yuanzhen grunted and quickly jumped back to create some distance.
At that moment, two more screams rang out.
It was Wei Qing, Qin Ze, and Huo Qubing who joined forces to kill the two remaining Hu generals.
At this point, all the Northern Hu generals had been executed, leaving only Cha Yuanzhen alive.
A strong wind howled past, and Cha Yuanzhen watched Qin Ze lead several generals in, but his face remained expressionless.
The biting wind blew his hair, his beard and hair on his forehead were disheveled, and a few white hairs fell in front of his eyes. Cha Yuanzhen opened his mouth and exhaled.
A faint white mist dissipated in the cold air.
He looked around and saw fewer and fewer Hu soldiers; they had all lay down and were now sleeping forever in the wilderness.
Cha Yuanzhen shook his head, his reddish-brown face displaying a complex expression. Then, he laughed heartily:
"Right and wrong, success and failure, all vanish in the blink of an eye; the green hills remain as before!"
Cha Yuanzhen, carrying a long spear, rushed forward towards Qin Ze.
Before Qin Ze, three generals with cold eyes charged towards Cha Yuanzhen together...
——
Sunset on the plains, with only the last glimmer of light remaining on the endless horizon.
Under the gloomy sky, carnivorous birds circled in the air, emitting hoarse cries that sent chills down one's spine.
Countless corpses lay on the red grass, the thick stench of blood attracting their hungry stomachs, but the flock of birds dared not land.
The imposing iron cavalry advanced slowly, crushing flesh and blood on the ground as they made their way towards the Northern Hu army camp.
There was no one there anymore.
After the army had passed, the birds finally had a chance to circle and land.
A bird landed next to a human head, pecking at it with its hard beak. It tilted its head and then identified a good target to peck at.
With a "plop," the bird's beak pierced the man's eye socket, pulling out a bloody eyeball.
The large bird pecked the eyeballs to pieces, slowly devouring the flesh and blood, before hopping around to peck at the other eyeball.
Soon, the face that once aspired to dominate the grasslands and establish a nation was left with only a dark, empty void.
