Chapter 923 The Final Judgment

“The sinner Hadra X. von Paron.”

"Death confirmed."

As if shot in the heart, Wolfgang's pale face turned deathly white. He staggered, his body tilted, and he was about to fall to the ground when the officials around him rushed over to help him up.

Wolfgang, however, forcefully stomped his foot on the floor and stood up straight.

"I'm fine." He said this without turning around, his gaze unfocused and fixed straight ahead.

"It's good that you're alright."

“The prisoners have all been executed; it’s time to end this gathering,” an official said with a sigh, looking at Wolfgang’s pale face.

Wolfgang didn't answer, and another person whispered, "The Yan people have already returned to the Royal Castle..."

Upon hearing this, Wolfgang, who was in a daze, turned around and looked behind him. The Yan Emperor and his entourage, who were supposed to be there supervising the execution, had all left at some point.

Seemingly noticing the confusion in Wolfgang's eyes, the official then explained, "They went down when the bell rang... and they are now on their way back to the Royal Castle, preparing to leave Salibia tomorrow."

Wolfgang ignored him, his lips pressed tightly together, and he staggered down the stairs toward the execution platform.

Seeing him leave without paying any attention, the officials looked at each other in bewilderment and had no choice but to announce on his behalf that the execution was over and everyone must leave the square immediately.

In front of the execution platform, the guards were already collecting the bodies of the prisoners. However, below the platform, although the assembly had been announced to be dispersed, only a small number of people left, while the majority did not.

At this moment, some agitated people were trying to rush onto the execution platform and snatch Feng Palen's body. The guard force composed of Yan people had begun to withdraw in an orderly manner after their emperor left, so the remaining Golte guards did not even have time to stop these people rushing over.

In fact, they didn't really care what would happen to the corpses.

But Wolfgang cares.

As he staggered into the execution platform, his gaze immediately fell upon the corpse of Von Palen. Since the purpose of this execution was to serve as a warning, none of the prisoners wore masks, which exposed their gruesome deaths to the public.

Upon seeing that distorted face, Wolfgang shuddered and cried out in a trembling voice:

"What are you standing there for? Hurry up and move the prisoner's body away!"

The guards hurriedly stuffed the bodies into the prepared body bags, but the crowd rushing up from below the stage began to roar in fury:

"This cold-blooded beast never showed even the slightest remorse for his actions until his death!"

"Killing him like this is too easy on him!"

"Put down his body! Hand over his body!"

Without a doubt, those at the forefront were the ones most affected by the war and the ones who hated von Palen the most. Among them were Goths, and of course, Kosovois who had changed their names. So when they saw von Palen die, their intense anger nearly drove them out of control.

"Back off! Back off immediately! We'll handle the prisoners' bodies!"

The guards tried to stop them, shouting loudly.

However, it had no effect whatsoever. The enraged crowd had already broken through the police line and was running towards the execution platform, roaring incessantly.

"Do you need to deal with a dead person? Just put him down!"

"Leave him to us!"

Seeing that the situation was getting out of control, a guard captain immediately jogged over to Wolfgang and said, "Sir, the Yan Kingdom's troops have withdrawn. We can't control them. If this continues, there might be bloodshed like last time."

"These corpses... it wouldn't make much difference if we left them to them..."

Before he could finish speaking, Wolfgang grabbed him by the collar, glared at him, and gritted his teeth, saying, "I said, we'll handle the body!"

The captain of the guards had no choice but to quickly have his men carry the body, which had already been stuffed into a cloth bag, down to the execution platform and into the carriage.

However, just as the soldiers were frantically loading the bodies into the carriage, the enraged crowd broke through the cordon and rushed towards the carriage like madmen.

Wolfgang, who had already followed the guards down to the execution platform, immediately called in more guards to control the situation. However, the place was already packed with people, and angry questions could be heard everywhere.

Some people have already said some extremely harsh things:

"Why are these corpses still here?! Are you secretly plotting something?!"

"Was it really that cold-blooded tyrant who died?!"

"Put down his body!"

These questions filled Wolfgang with sorrow. Why did people still doubt him when he had died in front of everyone? And since he was already dead, why bother to seize his body to vent their anger?

Do these people have no gratitude whatsoever for the contributions that Von Palen made to the nation and the country?

He then shouted angrily, "Enough! All of you, get out of here!"

“Von Palen has been hanged, right in front of all of you!”

"We will dispose of all the prisoners' bodies in a unified manner!"

"The execution is over! Go back now!"

However, his words had lost their persuasive power at this moment. In the crowd, a disheveled woman, her hair unkempt and clothes tattered, frantically pushed and shoved the guards blocking her way, screaming shrilly at Wolfgang:

"Go back to where?! Look what you've done!"

"My family, because of him!"

The madwoman pointed at the corpse in the carriage, then at Wolfgang behind the guards:

"That includes you!"

"All of you! You are all murderers!"

The woman's shrill wails were no longer human, but she was both crying and laughing, completely like someone who had gone mad. This even startled the others around her. The guards, seeing her terrifying face, felt their hearts race and unconsciously took two steps back.

However, this madwoman continued her accusations, laughing and crying at the same time:

"Look what you've done!"

“My husband, my brother, they both died in this war! Don’t try to fool me with that ‘dying in battle is glorious’ nonsense! They could have lived!”

"Oh, alive, alive... My sister can live too... Hahaha."

"She's only thirteen years old. What mistake has she made? Did she go to war? No! She did nothing wrong!"

"But she still died. She died right here, under the feet of you murderers!"

"You are all murderers, you all deserve to be hanged!"
