Chapter 929 The Moon Has its Phases 4

Huffman flicked his wrist, and the ash fell to the ground. He suddenly realized something.

Dingle slowly rose and continued:

“Apart from the battlefields where we fought, their army did not carry out killings in any of the towns they passed through.”

"As for the towns they didn't pass through, they didn't even send troops there. The Yan Emperor even showed me the route map he planned after entering the country."

“I don’t think he would lie to me at this time. In fact, I even feel that he is a very honest person. As for the military discipline of the Yan Kingdom, we have already seen it without me having to say anything.”

At this point, Dingle took a drag of his cigarette and looked at Huffman, whose head was still bowed:

"Colomso is not on their marching route. I think your family must be waiting for you to come back."

"I'm leaving the city with them tomorrow. If you'd like, you can come with me."

"On my way home."

After saying that, he turned to look at Pokel, and was about to speak when Pokel said, "Colonel, I went to the military headquarters two days ago. There is unrest in the eastern region, and I have requested to be transferred there. My home is there, and I will be leaving the day after tomorrow."

Dingle nodded slowly: "Okay."

As he spoke, he looked down at Huffman again: "Have you thought it through? Are you going back alone, or with me?"

Huffman, who was sitting in the chair, began to tremble all over. He didn't even notice that the cigarette in his hand had fallen to the ground. He bent over, covered his face with his hands, and curled up. Then, a series of sobs and whimpers came out, and tears spilled from between his fingers and dripped to the ground.

"Thanks...."

"Thank you for telling me this news."

“You’re welcome, I’m just relaying the message.” Dingle patted Huffman on the shoulder, then added:

"As I always say, stay optimistic; even bad things can have a good outcome."

"If you're coming with me tomorrow, wait for me at the city gate before nine o'clock."

He said no more, stubbed out his cigarette, turned and walked towards the carriage that had been waiting by the roadside, saying without turning his head:

"It's getting late, let's stop here."

"If you ever come to Salibia to find me, just bring my family crest with you; it's in the cigarette pack."

As soon as he finished speaking, Pokel quickly stood up, and Huffman also stood up shakily, wiping away tears incessantly.

Dingle had already boarded the carriage: "Back to the Royal Castle."

"Alright!" the driver replied happily; it was not yet nine o'clock in the evening.

The coachman cracked his whip, and before the horse had even landed, he shouted and started to move.

Standing by the roadside, Pokel waved at the departing carriage, a smile on his face, and shouted:

Goodbye, Colonel.

May your journey be smooth and successful!

Wiping away tears, Huffman offered the same blessing as before:

"May the goddess Saint Marlene protect the colonel and our nation..."

The carriage moved slowly, and from the lifted curtains, the sounds of it receding into the distance could be heard:

"I look forward to the day we meet again; it will surely be better than it is now."
